Young Belgian decathlete Thomas Van der Plaesten opened his season with PRs in the 60m hurdles and the pole vault...one to keep an eye on.

Adam Kszczot finished in a very close second in the 600m with a time of 1:15.75 at the IAAF Russian Winter meet jacknyc mentioned earlier.

Anyone know where Barrett Nugent is?

From Poland, a name I don't recognize/remember, Grzegorz Zimniewicz with a good 60m time of 6.66.
Nice to add some new names to the watch list.

Pavel Maslak is hot right now. Just ran a blistering 45.66 indoors.
At the same meet Verena Sailer of Germany beat some top flight competition and ran a fast 7.22.

Maslak's height is listed at 5'9, which is very impressive for a 400 guy. Also he looks to be in phenomenal shape. This could be the guy to watch this summer for the 400. His personal best indoor for the 200 is 21.33, which I'm sure he could break easily right now. Maybe he'll run a few of those as well.

There are alot of track meets going on this weekend. I will try my best to post a live link feed to the British National Indoor Champs. We have Robertson, Kilty, Cackett and many others competing with the best in the U.K. Should be some fireworks.

Does anyone know why Michael Tumi hasn't raced yet? My only guess it they are focusing on outdoors but I would still like to see him get
a few indoor races before the season is over.

Don't forget guys. Christophe Lemaitre also races tommorow in his final tuneup before the French Indoor Champs.

Tumi suffered a hamstring injury in early January. He is supposed to run next week in some obscure meet in Austria somewhere. I don't think he will be his old self in time for the Worlds in March. I like Tumi. He is ****y as hell. His 10.19 could have been much better last year in the 100 meters if he was not so oft injured.

Don't forget that his 10.19 was also run on a very wet track on a rainy day. If he can remain healthy he will increase his p.b. in the 100 this year. I think his biggest problem other than health is speed endurance. He should run some 200's to help with that. The times don't matter. He just needs to get his aerobic capibllity to a higher level to help him finish those 100 meters races stronger.

6.53 from Richard Kilty in Britain.
Very impressive!
He also ran 6.58 in the semis.

Yes that is approaching ten flat to shading a sub 10 time in the outdoor season if the second half of his race holds up. He could be the next non Black sub ten member. :thumbsup:

Richard Kilty is looking deadly. He is out for blood this year. The "Teaside Tornoado" is on a mission. Incredible pair of races by the
kid. I'm very happy for him. Talbot ran a new p.b. of 6.62 in the semi finals. England has alot of young white male and female sprinters. In the womens final, they had 3 or 4 white sprinters make it and that was with Sophie Papps getting a dq in the heats. Why is it that England can find young white talent in the sprints and America never can? I will tell you why. They don't want white talent in the U.S.

What happened to Andrew Robertson and Greg Cackett? I didn't see either of them running. I'm guessing injuries or disqualifications maybe.

Great news from Alex Schaf. Thanks for the update.

One more time I want to touch on Richard Kilty. This kid ran 10.10. last year and he is an excellent 200 meters sprinter. So what does this say about his chances outdoors? I will predict that barring an injury, Kilty goes at least sub 10.05 this summer and probably right around 10.00 seconds flat. He is one to watch for sure! I'm so happy for him as UK Athletics left him off the 200 team at the 2012 Olympics when he was one of the top two sprinters in the trials. It was complete b.s. Then the lies about him attacking someone which was also just more lies. He is a great kid on and off the track. He deserves this. He tied for the silver and yet they gave the medal to cheater Chambers. What a joke. Give him the bronze. I hope he can continue his fine form at the world indoors.


Does anyone know when Julien Reus will have his first race?

This is not an indoor result but outdoors from Australia today. I still thought I would post it. In a hurry but it should go into the future sprinters watch list.


In Sydney, 18yo Josh Clarke (dob 19 May 95) put together a 10.36 (o.5), 10.20w (3.3) combo, making him the fastest Aussie junior sprinter since back in the days of Shirvington.:biggrin:


I wanted to add some other Aussie News. In the heats of the womens 100 meters, Melissa Breen broke the Aussie National Record running a very fast
time of 11.11 (1.9) wind legal. I'm so happy for her. The finals will be coming up later and she will face Sally Pearson among others. I hope she can go even faster and lower the national record even more.

She went on to win the finals in another scorching time. Sally Pearson was 2nd. Melissa Breen is now the fastest Aussie women ever!

Sebastian Ernst significantly below 21 seconds
Sebastian Ernst took advantage of an indoor sports festival in Leipzig on Saturday for a successful test in the 200 meters. The Wattenscheider, who ran a German indoor record in the arena with 20.42 seconds three years ago, stayed with 20.73 seconds under the threshold of 21 seconds.

For the 29-year-olds, it was the fastest 200-meter time at all since June 2012. He was faster than the Leverkusen Aleixo Platini Menga (21.15 sec), which won a further time course, and the Berlin Maximilian Kessler (21.22 sec).

He also met his own expectations. For the race on for him, "fastest train in Germany," he had made a time under 20.90 seconds.

It will be shown both days live on Eurosport.com I will try to get a link for those of us here who want to watch it. We should see some fireworks on the track.

I know this is a pro white athlete web site but I root for any sprinter of non-Western African descent. So 18 year old Japanese sprinter , Yoshihide Kiryu just ran a 6.59 60 meters recently. The Japanese don't run the 60 a lot but the previous record was from Ryota Yamagata who is only 22 and has a pb 0f 10.08 in the 100 meters. Yamagata's best over 60 was a paltry 6.72. Expect to see Kiryu run around 9.95 for the 100 at some point this Summer. I guarantee it.

I wouldn't mind seeing an asian go sub 10 as it helps to break down stereotypes. I'm still puzzled that we haven't seen a few more whites crack the barrier yet outside of Lemaitre. I think we are very close to seeing more white sprinters in the near future and very possible this summer. Why do you ask? Just look at three sprinters who are on the verge as the start of a mini tidal wave. Reus and Keller went 10.07 and 10.08 while Kilty went 10.10 last year. Two of these sprinters are very good 200 meters guys too so they have the speed endurance. I can see it happening this summer on a hot day with a good max allowable wind. Maybe even without the wind. Reus and Kilty and both almost a lock in my opinion. They both are great starters who have speed endurance. Keller is more of an outside shot but he is capable. My dark horse would be Tumi if he can improve his speed endurance. He hasn't even run this year yet though due to an injury. You also have to consider both Rytis Sakalauskas and Ramil Guliyev if they are both healthy. So that is a total of 6 potential guys that are capable if everything goes right. If only 2 of them did it I would be very happy. Lemaitre need some company. I also want to see the white youth realise that it is a barrier met to be broken by anyone with good genetics combined with hard work!

I disagree with both of you.

Kiryu might get there soon, but I think the first sub 10 Asian will be Peimeng Zhang from China.
His times at the World Championships last year were 10.04 in the heats and 10.00 in the semi finals. If he had leaned at the tape, he might have already gone sub 10.

Meanwhile on the European side, I think Adam Gemili will be the next sub-10.
He is young, new to the sport, and improving every yr. He ran 10.05 at the World Jr Championships in 2012, and then 10.11 and 10.06 at the Olympics. His best time last year was also 10.06. He's only 20 yrs old, so I think it's coming very soon for him.
I don't the German duo are capable of sub 10. At least not on a normal track.
Kilty is improving a lot. We'll see how close he can get this year.
Guliyev is the only other guy that i see as having sub 10 capability.

No, this weekend are the German Youth Indoor Championchips (U20), the German Indoor Championships are next week.

Perhaps we have to look for Chantal Butzek (born February 1997), she ran 7,49 Sec. the 60m. She's also a hurdler.
