Young Sophie Papps down to 7.22 today in Britain. Papps, Prandini, Cunliffe, Schippers, and Sant. Some amazing young female talent in the sprints!
Also a PB from Schippers in LJ.

In the final Daphne Schippers runs a 7.17 and Sophie Papps 7.23.

Just watching that pole vault by Renauld sends chills up my spine. That bar was all the way at the very top. He is so much better than any other pole vaulter on earth. It's still stunning to think that he didn't win the gold medal at the last major championships. How is that possible? Regardless, congrats to the greatest pole vauter on earth. Incredible performance.

Now if we can just get the record back in the high jump and with Menkov maybe someday the long jump! The long jump would be alot more difficult but it is possible.

I feel bad for Christophe. I know how badly he wants so excel indoors like he did around 3 years ago. He seems to get nervous still like a school kid as his reaction time had him glued to the starting blocks even worse than I've ever seen him. That is why I prefer outdoors becuse even with a poor or average start a guy like Lemaitre can still run down most sprinters the way Carl Lewis used to. Lewis was always a very poor starter his whole career. I think even Kilty was a little nervous today.

I'm very happy for the female sprinters around the globe. The best of the current bunch the last decade in overall success though has been Verena Sailer of Germany. She is 29 now but she still runs fast as hell. The weird thing about her is that she has terrible form. I have often wondered how much faster she could have been with better technique and coaching. She still won the European Championship over 100 meters, has countless national titles and a lifetime p.b. of 11.02 outdoors and 7.14 indoors! Bad form or not. Verena can fly!:icon_eek:

So happy for Renauld to get the world record. Aside from pole vault, he's still a remarkable athlete. For someone who is only 5'9" he put up some very respectable numbers when he competed at the Decastar decathlon last year.

Pavel Maslak, who's been red hot in the 400m this indoor season,
showed his short sprint speed in winning the 60m at the Czech Championships.
His time 6.67 and 6.65 in the heats. That's faster than Lemaitre was today -twice!

Marek Niit the Estonian all around sprinter formerly with Arkansas, had a very good meet in Arkansas this wkend.
46.10 and 20.63. Both very good times.
Marek was an outstanding sprinter for Arkansas from the 100m to 400m.
For some reason his times fell off his last season at Arkansas, but by the looks of things today, he is back!
Looking forward to a good season from him.

Darius Kuc of Poland, who's been on the scene for awhile, ran 6.65 60m yesterday, beating the black Norwegian Ndure, who also ran 6.65.
But over 100m Ndure beat Kuc 10.19 to 10.32.
It just shows that a 60m time is not indicative of 100m times. Some guys fade over the last 40m and some guys (Lemaitre for example) pick it up.

Kseniya Ryzhova of Russia ran a world leading time of 51.06 in the 400m at the Russian Championships today.
The ladies are doing a great job this year.

Pavel Maslak followed up his 60m win with a 20.52 in the 200m! A new National Record, and the fastest European time this season.
I hope this is going to be a big year for him. We need somebody to step it up. :)

Maslak is an absolute stud. At a variety of distances. I don't think he should go anything above the 400 due to his height but I love his versatility. How many 5'9 sprinters can run at so many distances and win most meets he enters. He is so young too. The future is very bright for this kid. He should be a major threat at the European Championships this summer.

I'm really happy for Blum and Jakubczyk. They both beat Reus who was a heavy favorite despite not racing all season. Jakubzyk hadn't raced until yesterday too. Both of these guys now have the A Standard for the World Indoor along with Schaff. Germany could send 3 male spinters if they want to but I'm guessing they will only send too. Christian Blum has been the most consistant white sprinter indoors worldwide outside of Kilty this year. I'm very happy for him. He is as steady as they come. Hope he can turn that into some outdoor success if he stays healthy.

Verena Sailer is amazing. A 7.14 will win you just about any indoor title in most countries. She is absolutely flying.

Darius Kuc won another indoor 60 meter indoor national championship today. He ran a blistering 6.60! He looks better than he has in years so far in 2014. Poland really has alot of young sprinters chasing him. Remigiusz Olszewski was 2nd and he is only 21 years of age with Ziemenewicz in 3rd place. I love what is going on in Poland, England and Germany with the number of young sprinters rising up. Even Australia has some very good young guys to keep an eye on.

Rytis Saukalauskas also ran a descent 6.67 today. That is good for him as he is usually a very slow starter.

I believe next weekend is the italian champs. Maybe Tumi will finally race.

Richard Kilty went 6.53 for the 2nd time this season to tie his personal best. He only finished 3rd however to two old men who I know are cheating. Kim Collins won in a time of 6.49 at 38 years of age and Dwain Chambers was 2nd in 6.52! Explain to me how these two old guys keep getting faster the close they get to 40? Yeah tell me that's normal. If only we could all do that. Magic in a pill or bottle. It's only obvious. Still happy Kilty has found that next gear and he is consistant. He will be a threat to medal at the world indoor champs.

Ukhov also went huge again today. The guy is on a tear and hopefully it will end with a world record.

I think Kilty has a very good chance of breaking the 10 flat mark this year. He ran his fastest 100 of last year on a cold day, his last outdoor race and no wind. Watching him accelerate in his 60 meters suggests, to me that this kid could easlily crack 10 flat 2 or 3 times this year. Michael Tumi was great over 60 last year but he did not have that late acceleration as Kilty and Lemaitre do. Its going to be a very good year for our guys I believe.
