"Speaking of pathetic injuries to black athletes...last night, LeSean McCoy dropped to the ground during a routine tackle and immediately shed his helmet, screamed in pain (he actually appeared to be crying), signaled for the trainer while grasping his shin as though he has just suffered a fractured tibia bone. Mike Mayock, who was appalling last night alongside the palatable Brad Nessler, yelled out: “Oh God, no! That doesn’t look good for Eagles fans. I feel so badly for this kid.†McCoy returned to the game several minutes later and showed no lingering effects from whatever “injury†he sustained…"
There is a whole world out there of sports truisms that only about 1% of people are aware of. The "room brightening smile" said to be had by every single black athlete and zero non-blacks. The "lots of upside" comment being applied exclusively to unproven or underperforming blacks. The "Joe Sixpack" or "good hands receiver" or "gym rat" moniker being applied to every white athlete. The "deceptive speed" comment being applied to every white receiver (even if he runs a 4.5 and is the fastest receiver on the team).
But the black player writhing and screaming in agony on the field or on the court only to be back fine - with no limp - four plays later is the funniest. And it has never even been mentioned in the press.
