Hall of Famer
Last night was surely a championship quality victory for the NFL’s whitest franchise. It took a boatload of fortitude to battle back from 0-24 the way they did, to hold Denver in the second half, to take the lead, to lose the lead, and to grind through nearly 15 full minutes of overtime. It seemed as though the moment in which the game “turned” in their favor was LB Dane Fletcher’s forced fumble, which set up New England’s second touchdown. Fletcher was fantastic, as even Christine Collinsworthless stated many times.
Hopefully the obvious boost Dane provided the defense will afford him additional playing time moving forward. The last white inside linebacker to receive any significant playing time for the Patriots was Monty Beisel back in 2006. Tedy Bruschi started up to 2009, but he had some non-white ancestry…
CAPTION: Fletcher Shines Ahead of Hightower and Collins
It really is amazing just how many white players contribute on offense and defense for New England. I counted the following white players (not all of whom are starters) that played a role…
OFFENSE (11): Brady, Edelman, Amendola, Gronkowski, Mulligan, Develin, Solder, Mankins, Wendell, Connolly, and Svitek. Sumo RT, Marcus Cannon, was injured early in the game, giving the Pats a 5/5 white OL.
DEFENSE (4): Ninkovich, Vellano, Fletcher, and the very white-looking Chris Jones (who we determined is 1/8[SUP]th[/SUP] black). Starting safety, Steve Gregory, would have played but missed the game due to the thumb injury.
Edelman was fantastic, of course, tallying 9 catches, 110 yards and 2 ultra-important TD grabs…
CAPTION: TD #1
CAPTION: TD #2
Gronkowski was great (7 catches, 90 yards, TD), but woefully underutilized, as always. He clearly has the potential to be the greatest, most dominant offensive weapon in NFL history. His extroverted personality is annoying off the field (where he dates pornstars, poses nude, gambles, parties, etc), but his on field persona is brash and quite refreshing for a white athlete...
CAPTION: Gronkowski Thunderspikes in the Face of Negroes
Various black players stepped up for New England as well. Aquib Talib, Chandler Jones, Shane Vereen, Kembrell Thompkins, and Logan Ryan all made critical plays in the contest. The team has a diverse mixture and one can only imagine how the quality of play would increase if all NFL teams permitted more whites to play, as they do in New England.
For Denver, aside from a few catches by Welker and the criminally-ignored Jacob Tamme (who languishes behind their “Superstar Tight End” – which is Al Michaels exclusively calls him -- Julius Thomas), it was an utter “blackstravaganza.” Manning barely threw the ball, making almost all of their offensive possessions into a boring, monotonous series of inside hand-offs to one of the slowest running backs to ever play the position. Decker had a 5-yard catch. Beadles was their lone white offensive lineman. Wolfe and Unrein barely played at DT/DE, registering a single tackle between them. For these reasons, I generally don’t enjoy watching this Casteon team. Actually, one could make the argument that San Diego is more “white friendly” than Denver, but the two squads are close.
It’s quite remarkable that, once again, despite massive personnel changes, offseason controversies (Welker’s contract, the Hernandez murders), significant injuries to key players (Wilfork, Vollmer, Mayo, Kelly, Vereen, Gronkowski, Amendola, etc), countless games of struggling to score, and bizare losses due to penalties (pushing on the field goal, pass interference against the Panthers), Brady and Belichick once again have this squad in position to contend for a championship. Should New England win the remainder of their games (a mild schedule that consists of: Texans, Browns, Dolphins, Ravens, and Bills), finish 13-3, and have success in the playoffs, it was last night’s intrepid triumph that surely sparked the fire.
