Looks like Bubba is upping his wuss level to join Dick Vermeil, Bill Cowher and Jim Leyland and others as a reliable instant weeper.

I usually root for defending champions to repeat as it's particularly difficult to accomplish in golf, but won't for this tournament. Watson hasn't been playing well and is unlikely to contend.

Rory McIlroy snapped out of his 2013 funk the past two tournaments and is a solid contender this week and Phil the Thrill can never be counted out at Augusta. Lots of other possible winners besides You Know Who. I love The Masters, can't wait for it to begin tomorrow. opcorn:

In any event, The Masters has become one of my favoite sporting events. Now that I've been watching it on HD for the last few years, it's an unbelievable viewing experience. It helps that Jim Nantz, one of the best in the business, is the primary host and runs the highlight show. However, Woods worshipper Nick Faldo is the lead analyst, so that's unfortunate.

We know the entire sports media is hungry for Woods to win and the coverage will be nauseating, but here's hoping any of the several other contenders can come thru.

Don, maybe you can grant Bigunreal a temporary 4-day pass to post here. It seems that we need his negative energy more than ever. :icon_lol:

I'm fairly new to golf - just started watching over last 7 or 8 years - so I don't know much about Jack Nicklaus. In the last couple of days he's said without any obvious concern that Tiger will break his record and the Chinese are going to be all over the leaderboard over the next decade, so I'm getting a bad feeling about Jack.

I don't want to jinx it, but I've been following the Masters via the website, and I don't think I've heard You-Know-Who mentioned in over an hour. It actually seemed too pleasant, so I knew something was missing.

Yes about half a dozen legitimate challengers are ahead of Woods and a few dark horses too. Woods will have to earn a 5th green jacket the days of players wilting to a Saturday charge are probably over.

Raining really heavily there so I wouldn't expect many good rounds today. I like seeing Dustin Johnson amongst the leaders. Also, Brandt Snedeker is in the hunt at 2 under. Those are the guys I'll be watching closely.

Anyway, I agree with Freethinker that it is important for someone like Dustin Johnson Phil Mickelson to win.

Phil is -2, and headed for a part of the course he generally plays quite well. Dustin Johnson now at -6. Shaping up to be a fun weekend. Expect the Tigermania to be at the highest possible setting this afternoon.

Who else could go five years without winning a major and still always be considered the prohibitive favorite to win another one? Has any great golfer gone this long without a major win at his age? Woods just hit the flag on a par 5 and had a snake bitten bounce into the water. Over the years shots like that have holed out or bounced perfectly. Woods didn't even curse to the golf gods. I shudder to think what kinky sexual practices have him in the zone.....

Just when it looked like Woods was going to jump out to a 2 or 3 stroke lead, he faltered on the back nine, shooting 2 over and is in the middle of the leaders at -3. He had a bad break on 15 when his shot hit the pin and went in the water, but he also had some nice breaks, like on the 8th when his second shot ended up giving him a chance at eagle when it could have easily been well off the green, and another hole where his tee-shot hit a tree and bounced into the middle of the fairway. Come to think of it, it seems like a helluva lot of the shots the pros hit off the trees end up in the fairway or at least with a decent lie, whereas 90% of the time I hit one off a tree it only goes deeper into the trees. :noidea:

Excellent leader board, hopefully lots of drama per usual this weekend and a deserving winner not named Tiger.

I was just watching the Golf Channel, and Brandon Chamblee stated that the 14 year old kid from China being assessed a one stroke penalty during his round today dwarfed anything else in importance that happened in the second round. What a bonehead statement. How about 53 year old Fred Couples being one shot out of the lead? One can only imagine the media frenzy if a 53 year old Magical Negro was in the same position as Couples. Does anyone think Woods will be challenging for a Masters title when he's 53, much less any other black?

Woods was penalized 2 strokes for a drop that was too favorable for Woods. On the broadcast Nick Faldo was aghast at the faux pas and watchers called into officials about the rules violation. Burly, cigarette smoking Angel Cabrera, who won the U.S. Open in 2007 and The Masters in '09, was ranked 269th in the world coming into the tournament but is right in the mix.

The leader board is very tight halfway through the third round, looks like it's gonna be another great final round tomorrow.

One of the many great things about The Masters is that the club mandates that commercials are strictly limited, to I believe just 4 minutes per hour, or about 1/5 of the normal bombardment on TV. And thankfully so, as the ones being shown alternate between ultra-globalist themes by IBM featuring predominantly Asians ("let's build a smarter planet"), and Nanny State scoldings from AT&T ("don't text and drive").
