Kaiser Soze, thanks for starting this thread and creating that stat sheet from the opening weekend. hopefully we'll add a lot more info and impressive performances in the coming weeks. since you did such a good job compiling that information, i thought i'd contribute a bit of info of my own, albeit from a different perspective.

as the season goes on, i'd like to share a slightly more in-depth profile of some of our guys who i take notice of as having terrific talent.

to start off, i'd like to mention Indiana's sophomore speedster, Nick Stoner.

Stoner was a 3-time State Champion sprinter at Center Grove High in Indiana, with personal bests of 10.66 in the 100-meters and 21.57 in the 200-meters. he's continued his sprinting excellence at the collegiate level, where he is an All-American sprinter for the Hoosiers (and helped IU to its first Big Ten track title since 1992). with blazing speed, good size (6-foot-1, 173-pounds), and sure hands (he's the starting punt returner for the Hoosiers), he has all the necessary ingredients to become a big-time playmaker at wide receiver (he started his career at IU as a cornerback).

that is, of course, if ... wait for it ... if the coaches are convinced he has enough football speed. :doh:

in the Hoosiers' season opener, he only had 2 receptions for 16 yards, but he was also wide open (by about ten yards) on a long touchdown bomb (alas, his black quarterback somehow still overthrew him), running away from a cone-uh-back down the sidelines and was again overthrown (yay black quarterbacks!), and drew a pass interference on another would-have-been touchdown when he was tackled in the endzone by a desperately beaten cone-uh-back.

Nick Stoner is definitely a youngster to keep an eye on.

Chase Cochran

the state of Ohio is a hotbed for football talent, so one wonders why an elite sprinter who is also 6-foot-2 and a first-team All State wide receiver isn't highly recruited ... until, of course, one considers the possibility that said player might be a White kid. then it all makes sense. under the operating guidelines of the Caste System, programs only recruit White kids as a last resort ... no matter how physically gifted they are.

the interesting case of Chase Cochran, a sophomore wideout/kick returner for the Ohio Bobcats, is just one of many that illustrates this phenomeon.

Ohio was one of only 4 Division One programs (along with Navy, Air Force, and Buffalo) to offer him a scholarship to play football. which is "weird," really, when you consider that at 6-foot-2, with a 34-inch vertical, and dominant stats (caught 39 passes for 1,070 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior), Cochran allegedly possesses every physical trait that "talent" "evaluators" and collegiate coaches allegedly covet. except for the black skin, of course.

and then there's the speed.

Cochran is a burner.

boasting personal bests of 10.68 in the 100-meters and 21.52 in the 200-meters, Cochran was one of Ohio's top sprinters. and he took pride in being a White cat who could outrun all those blacks who were in disbelief.

DAYTON — Chase Cochran has heard the banter and witnessed the looks of disbelief.

And it always makes him beam inside.

At this point in his standout track and field career, “White Lightning†is his tag of honor.

“I get it here a lot,†the Lebanon High School senior sprint sensation said recently at Welcome Stadium. “Usually at district or regional.

“You always have a few people that’ll come up to you and they’re like, we saw your times, but we didn’t know you were white. At this point I’m kind of used to it. It’s kind of humorous, but I take it as a compliment.â€

The 6-foot-2 senior is headed to Ohio University on a football scholarship to play wide receiver/returner. But before he lands in Athens, he’ll likely add his name to several more Lebanon records.

And that won’t be easy: He already owns eight school T&F; records and five in football.

Cochran was fourth in the Division I 200 meters last season. This spring he’s an open threat in the 100 (10.68), 200 (21.63) and 400 (48.66) and the 1,600 relay.

Those are some heady times for a program mostly known for everything but sprinters.

“We’ve had some decent sprinters in the past,†Cochran said, “but we’re probably known more for distance.â€

Cochran is a cousin of former Springboro speedster Brad Lamb, best known for being a wideout on the Buffalo Bills’ four Super Bowl losing teams.

“That’s usually where we like to say I got (sprinter’s speed) from,†Cochran said.

“I get to talk to him often. He gave me one of his jerseys that he wore in a Super Bowl. I’ve always cherished that. Being a football player like I am, that’s something that I want to get. I want to be like that guy.â€

Steve Poitinger has coached Lebanon track for 25 years and seven before that at Franklin. He saw Lamb at his best.

“Chase reminds me a lot of Brad with the running style, stride, effortless,†Poitinger said.

hopefully Cochran, now a sophomore for the Bobcats, will have a long and productive career. if his past and his talent are any indications, all signs point to go.

If I have more time I'll post tomorrow but counting tight ends Kaneakua Friel and Jake Murphy, there are 11 Whites in the top 75 for receiving yards. 15%. Throw in Swope, BCs Bobby Swigert (injured) and maybe a UL-Monroe receiver and that could go up....hopefully....

Alex Amidon

Alex Amidon exploded in the 2012 season opener against Miami. setting career-bests with 10 catches and 149 yards, Amidon showcased impressive athletic ability and toughness whilst repeatedly burning the allegedly superior affletes in the Hurricane secondary. the numbers are even more impressive considering he dropped a couple of balls early that would've also been big plays.

not surprisingly, Amidon, a junior at Boston College, was lightly recruited out of high school in Connecticut despite 4.4 speed on the football field and record-setting speed on the track. at 5-foot-11, Amidon was a 3-time NEPSTA MVP en route to winning the 200-meters three-straight years (setting the meet record in the 200 in 21.90 in 2008), the 400-meters twice (personal best of 48.42), and the 100-meters once (personal best of 10.99). even with this game-breaking speed (led his team to back-to-back New England titles in 2008-09), Amidon only received scholarship offers from Boston College and 3 other Division One programs.

fortunately, he has made good on his chance with the Eagles. he emerged as a big-play threat in his freshman year (led the team with 21.1 yards-per-catch), finishing the season second on the team with 338 receiving yards despite only starting one game. after struggling as a sophomore, Amidon has apparently re-emerged as a potent playmaker.

Amidon should continue to be a focal point of the BC passing attack even when Bobby Swigert (a fellow White wideout and BC's top pass-catcher the past two seasons) returns. Swigert is also a junior.

Conner Vernon

Duke's Conner Vernon has already become the Blue Devils' all-time receiving leader (208 career catches), and he is fourth in ACC history. but the former Freshman All-American and two-time second-team All-ACC performer will likely break every other school and conference receiving record before the year is through.

and just for good measure, he is the nation's active leader in consecutive games with at least one catch (36).

when you start looking at the numbers he has compiled, it is very impressive. it's even more impressive when you consider that Vernon almost didn't get a chance to play Division One college football because of the Caste System.

you see, Vernon played his high school football in the talent hotbed of Miami, Florida ... yet he didn't receive a single scholarship offer from any of Florida's Division One programs despite being 6-foot-1, running a 4.41 40 at an Under Armour/Scout Combine before his senior year, and putting up eye-popping numbers on the field.

not one.

you can bet that Vernon is well aware of how the Caste System works, as his family has seen it first hand. his brother Shane (who also was a non-desired White athlete) has even gone on the record:

“Bob Stoops, (Steve) Spurrier, all those guys were at the school at one time or another, and the coaches would tell them, ‘you need to look at this kid, you need to look at this kid,’ †Robert Vernon, Conner’s father, said. “And they said, ‘yeah, yeah, we’ll look at him,’ but they didn’t. They took Conner for granted.â€

Shane Vernon, who received offers from FCS or Division II schools, has another theory.

“I knew the stereotypes and stigmas that were in football,†he said. “I got to learn it the hard way. It’s an uphill battle, and you have this white boy stigma. It’s always there, no matter how good you are, what you do, it will always be there, so you’ve just got to stand out that much more.â€

Vernon stood out during spring football before his senior year. He was named the sleeper of the Under Armour/Scout combine after he ran a 4.41-second 40-yard dash.
At Gulliver Prep’s spring game, when more than a dozen college coaches were on hand watching his teammates bound for Southern California and the SEC, Vernon caught 10 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

Troy offered a scholarship before that game. Duke and Wake Forest came the next morning.

eventually, Vernon ended up at Duke, and he's been making opposing secondaries pay ever since. some folks in Florida took notice of the HUGE mistake, as this article from November, 2011 shows: UF Needs Conner Vernon.

Who is Conner Vernon?

Duke receiver Conner Vernon is 34th in the country in receptions with 59.

He’s 32nd in receiving yardage with 847 yards and his five touchdowns are good enough to rank him 41st.

The junior from Miami Gulliver Prep is having a solid season. Maybe, depending on your perspective, Vernon is having a phenomenal season.

You see, Vernon, once a three-star recruit UF didn’t offer, has been more productive this season in every major receiving category than the entire receiving corps at Florida combined.

Let me repeat that. If you take all of Florida’s receivers and combine their stats, those totals do not equal Conner Vernon’s.

Conner Vernon > UF receivers.

Vernon: 59 catches for 847 yards and five TDs.

UF receivers: 56 catches for 839 yards and two TDs.

To say that’s pathetic is an insult to anything that has ever been called pathetic.

There are several reasons why UF has lost five of its last six games. The No. 1 reason is clear. The Gators don’t have a Conner Vernon on their team.

UF quarterback John Brantley has a saintly patience for never letting any frustration with his receivers show during games. They have continually let him down.

barring injury, Conner Vernon will likely emerge as the best wide receiver to ever play in the ACC.

but will that matter to the Caste System-enforcing NFL?

I could be mistaken here, but I believe Erik Decker almost missed out on division I as well. I watched an interview with Division III coach John Gagliardi of St. Johns college in Minnesota. When he found out he lost Decker to the Minnesota Gophers, he called gophers coach Glen Mason and told him that he has a special talent coming to their team. It was a last minute type of offer to Decker. Based on the fact Decker was going to go division III, I assume he had no other Division I offers.

if one was looking for college football's most explosive big-play threat at wide receiver, a major criteria would likely be to judge by the wideout who's most likely to score a touchdown on any given play. it follows that the receiver with the most touchdown catches on the fewest touches should certainly be in that discussion.

perhaps if you understand how the Caste System works, it should also naturally follow that possibly the nation's top big-play wide receiver wasn't pursued by a single power conference football program and only received a single Division One football scholarship offer. that's right, just one.

after all, the touchdown-maker is a White kid.

Hands of glue with hops like a kangaroo ... what's "Neutz" to love?

Alex Neutz, a 6-3 junior for Buffalo, has been the Bulls' top playmaker since his redshirt freshman year. known for his great hands, the former volleyball player is also known for his explosive leaping ability and his knack for making the big play.

Neutz was the team's Offensive MVP as a freshman and led the Bulls in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns last year despite missing the final three games of the season due to injury. this year, he has picked up right where he left off. only better.

Neutz is currently tied for the national lead with 6 touchdown catches (in 3 games), and he's done so despite having just 15 total receptions (for 264 yards).

with that playmaking ability and all those physical skills one wonders, then, why as a record-setting high school athlete in Western New York, where Neutz sat the single-season receiving yardage mark (1,182 yards) and scored 22 receiving touchdowns on just 51 catches in his senior year alone (en route to winning the James Lofton Award as Western New York's best wide receiver), why wasn't the superb athlete heavily recruited?

in fact, Buffalo was the only Division One football program to extend a scholarship offer.

in an era when football fans are repeatedly informed that "coaches will find the talent no matter where it is," it's "weird" how a phenomenal talent like Neutz can be so thoroughly ignored ...

of course, coaches rarely consider White athletes "talented." so instead of actively looking for players who repeatedly do this ...

they willfully turn a blind eye in search of "real" athletes with the appropriate skin tone.

fortunately for Neutz, he was at least given one opportunity. and he's run (and leapt and scored) with it. unfortunately for football fans, the electrifying talent is left to toil in virtual anonymity on a team that receives little media attention.

instead of being a household name, Neutz is a virtual unknown. and it's all thanks to the Caste System artificially propping up lesser talents and ignoring White ones.

instead of being a household name, Neutz is a virtual unknown. and it's all thanks to the Caste System artificially propping up lesser talents and ignoring White ones.

Nice posts as usual from JC and Freethinker. Interestingly, The University of Buffalo Football describes Neutz as long, smooth, shows a burst and has great hands. Other than the great hands, these descriptions are not typically reserved for white WR's.

Let's hope Neutz and some of the others mentioned by Freethinker get their shot at The NFL!

If anything is keeping me interested this season it is the performance of the white wrs. Amidon has been a pleasant surprise and Vernon and Campanero are performing up to expectations. I think we might have 5-6 1000 yd wr's this year with some serious contenders for the Biletnikoff.

Most of the comments in the AJC website were very complementary of Bennett. A few (including myself ) stated he's the best WR on the (th)UGA team. :thumb: I hope he rehabs like mad and recovers asap, whilst adding 5-10 lbs of muscle.
