I too, enjoy bigunreal's weekly rants, but offer the same criticism that Kaptain gave. This post is a perfect example of what Don complains about. Sure, it's frustrating to have a player hurt on a relatively insignificant play, but the post insinuates that Belichick is putting players out purposefully so that they can get hurt. Nevermind that Gronk is a fantastic blocker, and always part of the field goal unit. And that teams put good blocking receivers on the field goal unit in the uncommon event that it goes awry and that the holder has to throw the ball. And yes, on the sideline Belichick, McDaniels, and O'Brien huddle up and say "lets put Welker out on kick return, and Woodhead on kick coverage so they can get hurt and we can put in (insert black player's name here) instead!" Sound ridiculous, doesn't it?Thanks for the support. Kaptain.
I forgot to note the curious fact that Gronk appears to have somehow broken his forearm on the last extra point for New England.
Exactly how do you break your arm on an extra point? More pointedly, what was a star of Gronk's magnitude still doing in the game at such a late stage, blocking for a meaningless extra point, when the Pats had a 30+ point lead?
But then again, Wes Welker-who isn't even the regular kickoff returner, was back returning the Colts' last kickoff, late in the game. Brings back memories of when BB inexplicably had Woodhead covering punts in the fourth quarter of a preseason game last season.
