"Beasley says he had to go home, talk to his family and clear up some issues. Says he's focused on football now."

I wonder how severely he'll be penalized by the team. Three years of gunner duty, maybe?

Don mentioned in another forum (Miami-Hartline) that fluff pieces are often written about undrafted rookies, with very little chance to stick, at this time of the year. I absolutely agree. It seems in August dozens of UFA's are lauded as potential "sleepers" and few ever make it, particularly white guys.

I think, however, and this is just a gut feeling, this kid might be different. Why? The sheer volume of positive press regarding this kid has been unusual. It's come from media in Texas, as well as the national media -- particularly after he claimed he faster than Welker.

A couple things I like too:

1) Caste-clown coaches usually love when white kids give up, so they can brag that "we don't need him anyway"...But Jason Garrett has stuck by this kid and has had his back all the way since he arrived in Dallas after the draft and started impressing. I see many DWF's have already blasted Garrett for sticking by a "quitter".

2) Another good sign is Dallas' new WR coach is Jimmy Robinson, who has over 28 years coaching experience and more recently helped Jordy Nelson thrive in Green Bay. Although I don't really remember Robinson as a player, he's famous for scoring the 1st ever TD at Giants Stadium in the 1970's....He's an assistant head coach to Garrett, so he might have more pull than most WR coaches...also, he's reportedly very close to June Jones, Beasley's college coach, and really didn't want to see Beasley leave.

Just before he left, here was an article predicting he'd win Dallas' #3 WR job. I think him leaving, even for two days, will make his road ahead a bit tougher, but let's hope for the best for him and Danny Coale.

Who was the last White receiver to get decent playing time for "America's Team"? Golden Richards? Dallas had a strong need at WR two years ago and could have signed Matt Jones and resurrected his career, but passed.

Dallas has definitely moved away from the coal black category the past few seasons, but unless Jones has really changed Beasley's slight chance of making it in the NFL will have to come with another team.

Who was the last White receiver to get decent playing time for "America's Team"? Golden Richards? Dallas has definitely moved away from the coal black category the past few seasons, but unless Jones has really changed Beasley's slight chance of making it in the NFL will have to come with another team.

The last white WR to get much playing time for the Cowboys was probably Doug Donley, who caught 32 passes for Dallas in 1984, which was his last year in the league. I seem to recall he had to retire because of injury. Does anyone know more about Donley?

I forgot about Mike Renfro. He played 10 years in the NFL (1978-87), the last four with Dallas. Renfro had 60 receptions in 1985 and 46 in 1987.

Mike was the son of Ray Renfro, a famous WR with the Cleveland Browns 1962-63. Ray Renfro was one of the fastest players in pro football during the 50's. Mike Renfro didn't have Ray's speed.

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Doug Donley decided Thursday to become a free agent, refusing to report to the Detroit Lions who had claimed him on waivers.

Donley, who was told in March that his chronically sore right shoulder would prevent him from passing the Cowboys' physical, was placed on waivers by Dallas on Tuesday. The Lions claimed him Wednesday, but as a vested four-year veteran, Donley can work out a deal with the team of his choice.

I don't disagree. As much as as I have high hopes for Beasley, based on his talent and early TC play, I have a hard time believing Dallas will keep two white, rookie WR's...Although as I noted in my post above, Jimmy Robinson came from Green Bay, where had Jordy and Brett Swain make it as rookies. This is different, but it does provide a glimmer of hope. I think the Danny Amendola situation should help him too...Jerry Jones reportedly liked him a lot (called him the "Boy Texas Tech"), but let him leave after all the positive talk...Perhaps they don't want to repeat the same mistake twice, just to keep some clearly inferior black receiver?

Yes, they easily could be the team that is most heavily rooted for here at CF in the NFC East....They should start 2 white LB's from Penn State....Vastly underrated Sean Lissimore, a defensive end, is said to be one of their top 3 DL's, but it's unclear if he'll start or be a 'super-sub"...the safety they picked from E. Washington could also play some...

Couple quick, random notes:

**I barely remember Doug Donley, as I began watching football as a kid in the 80's. He was dubbed "White Lightning" coming out of Ohio State...so I assume he was not a possession receiver?

**In addition to having a father that played in the NFL, Mike Renfro had a son that was reportedly incredibly fast (track superstar) coming out of high school (around 2004). I think he wound up at TCU for a short stint. I assume he never panned out as a big time college player, as I haven't seen anything about him in several years.

**Patrick Jeffers had a decent year in Dallas, prior to moving on to Carolina in 1999, where he had one stunning season. Troy Aikman reportedly lobbied very hard to convince the team to keep him, but Jones let him go. Aikman had told the TV media that year he thought Jeffers was good enough to start in the NFL. He was soon proven correct....Small, but very fast kick/punt returner Jeff Ogden might've been the Cowboys roster at the same time as Jeffers, giving them two at once in the Jones era? I just read (Wiki) that Ogden has already been married 4 times in his life...had I known he was such a person, I probably would not have rooted for him when he played with Dallas and Miami.

**Jason Garrett should know about the Caste system very well...As I recall his brother, Judd (drafted by Cincinnati), was a great running back at Princeton, with all the skills to play many years in the NFL. He was an early star in the old WLAF with the long defunct London Monarchs. Outside of a few cups of coffees on NFL practice squads, he never got a chance...Hopefully Jason, who is also Ivy League educated, is more fair minded and concerned about keeping the best players, not trying impress the media and retarded white fans who want to see basically all black teams. Who knows, he might be fixing to build an offense similar to the Patriots?

A white player would be the laughingstock of the country and would be mocked at every opportunity by the DWF's if something like this ever happened to him. This is the norm for quite a few blacks. Grown men should know how to be have themselves, but most of these affletes have the intelligence of little kids. How much you want to wager the idiot still screws up?

After leaving the team during training camp, then returning and having an impressive pre-season, all of the 53-man roster projections I’ve read for the Cowboys have WR Cole Beasley not only making the squad, but many rank him as the #3 WR behind Austin and Bryant. Also, many project that WR Danny Coale will make the squad as the #6 WR…

To confirm this, Dallas just cut two black receivers (Radway and Little) today.

If this occurs, along with their whitening defense (Sean Lee, Dan Connor, Sean Lissemore, Matt Johnson), their sumo-purging, and their ever-whitening draft classes, then Dallas’ demographic change under Jason Garrett has been a swift and highly-refreshing development. One might argue that after Green Bay, Dallas could be the “next whitestâ€￾ NFC squad.

Thanks for the update Thrashen. I was intending to look up Beasley and Coale the last few days, but never got around to it. So, again, thanks.

As I noted in a few posts in this thread, I had a really strong feeling 3 weeks ago that Beasley was potentially a diamond-in-the rough and was really liked by the Cowboys coaching staff. And I mean really liked. 99.9% of the time that some white undrafted rookie just "walks away from the team", I'd guess the coaches response would go two ways:

One, we liked his potential, but we can't take him back once he leaves, as "rules are rules". Two (and more commonplace), they'd accuse him of being a "quitter" and brag to the Caste media how glad they are the coward's gone and make it crystal clear he is not welcomed back under any circumstances. Give Garrett and his staff a ton of credit, as they stuck their neck out for this kid and said he was welcome back from the moment he walked away and publicly encouraged him to return (via the Caste media) as soon as possible, even though Jerry Jones' son hinted he'd rather Beasley not come back after he left. Hopefully he makes Garrett look good.

Yes, I would say if things cut the right way, Dallas could be the team to root for in the NFC East for us CF posters. Would love to see Lee and Connor be Pro Bowl types. Lee might already be there, I think Dan can join him. Lissemore is really liked by Dallas' staff and insider that broke down the film in 2011, feel him and Mike DeVito of the Jets might've been the two most underrated DL's in the NFL.

P.S: I wish Dallas had signed Hillis. Some reports had them trying to trade for him in October of 2011. He would've made Dallas a real favorite here at CF.

Cowboys practice squad WR Danny Coale suffered a torn left ACL in his knee on Thursday. Coale was a fifth-round pick out of Virginia Tech in April and was among Dallas' final cuts. He has spent the entire season on the practice squad. The first-year wideout dealt with a stress fracture in his foot and a hamstring strain in training camp. Coale will hope to be back in time for the start of offseason workouts.

Cowboys placed S Matt Johnson (hamstring) on injured reserve designated for return. Johnson has yet to play a defensive snap this season due to recurring hamstring woes. Dallas has been mulling this decision over for weeks now, and the team finally made the move after activating C Kevin Kowalski (ankle) from PUP. Johnson will be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks and would only be available if the Cowboys make the playoffs.
