Roster-wise, they really just need to get Budinger back. If he comes back strong, it could propel them down the back stretch of the season. He can play 2 or 3, and is a good defender. It will be interesting to see how the NBA responds to them. They aren't supposed to be any good at all, and they are too white for it to be ignored. It's not like they start a couple of white guys, they are whiter than Duke, whiter than the 80s Celtics. The DWF message boards are pretty funny. Nobody can quite talk about it, but you know they see it.

The Twolves are leading the Knicks by 9 points at the half at Madison Square Garden in NY. They have led pretty much the whole game and are doing it with out Love. Nikola Pekovic is doing what he always does. Owning the paint. He is so much stronger and more athletic than the majority of big men in the nba. He already has 15 points and 12 rebounds at halftime! Pekovic reminds me of a Viking Warrior! Rubio and the rest of the crew look good despite some horrible bad ref calling especially against Kirelenko. Here is to hoping that they can keep it up in the second half and get the win. Love should be back the next game.

I am enjoying seeing the Wolves beating my former favorite team, the Knicks. I guess I will always be somewhat of a Knicks fan, but I wanted them to keep Danilo and David Lee. The Pekovic - Chandler match up has been very interesting as he is completely dominating him. Too bad this is during the Giants game...

Look for that to get worse as the season wears on. If they get into the playoffs I guarantee the refs will be outrageously bias, and the Wolves wont be allowed to win. We better enjoy them as best we can now.

The T'Wolves lost to the Knicks by 3 pts tonight.
Even though they were without Kevin Love, they still started 5 whites - Kirelenko, Pekovic, and 3 guards - Shved, Ridnour, Barea.
It is pretty obvious that they need help at the forward position, and not more guards.
Getting Budinger back will be a help, but they really need another power forward to play behind Love. Maybe Luis Scola or Tyler Hansborough.
These guys would add more value to the team at this point than Reddick or Jimmer.

Im really pleased to see this from Adelman! He better get use to his white team getting the short end of the stick on all the calls. Its gonna get worse if the Wolves get better.

That is what is the most frustrating thing about watching nba games. Stars like Carmelo get foul and free throws when people look at them. Go and watch any game with Kobe, Lebron, Melo, etc. There is no way to defend them because it is a superstar league. They make sure this guys get their 20-30 points per night despite poor shooting most of the time. The other night, Kobe was 16 out of 41 from the field yet the Lakers beat the Warriors in o.t. It's funny how that works. I see so many guys shooting free throws on fouls where no defender was within two feet of them. Not only were they not touched, no one was even in the area. Yet foul calls are made and the games are determined on the line. Mark Cuban has complained about it for years.

The bottom line is that there is no way that the Knicks should have won last night period. Plain and simple Adelman is right. I hope the nba will take the playcalling more seriously but I doubt anything will ever change. The Twolves were awesome last night despite the loss. If that game was called by olympic or int'l officials, the twolves win going away.

Jack you make a good point. But I don't think it's lost on their organization. There were rumors, for instance, that they were looking at Gasol recently, for example. And I see no reason why they can't look both for guards and forward simultaneously, so long as they are not trading away valuable assets in their front court which, to your earlier point about swapping guards for guards, I am pretty certain they wouldn't.

My sense is they have a list of guys they like and they look into it when it appears they might be available. Now if they had 2-3 Jeff Hornacek's (remember that guy?) and 2 Steve Nash's on their roster than certainly it'd be a waste of time but otherwise, what's the harm in looking?

Nevertheless, I agree with your observation that they could use some depth at forward and that maybe (which perhaps you're implying) their guards are underrated.

I like their current guards. I just want these guys to be as tough as possible at all corners. Built like a brick sh*thouse. And man, with all the underrated white talent out there they could get some serious deals on the open market.

Yeah, let the most talented whites possible gather in Minnesota. Form a redoubt in the sea of blackness known as the NBA. Start kicking asses and talking numbers. And then we will see whites all around the league and all around the world inspired. And playing a level formerly not thought possible. That's my hope.

That is a frustrating aspect of the NBA. As well as the subjectivity of foul calling in general.

However, some of those calls will go our way because of Love's presence on the court. Refs are subject to the same peer pressure that anyone else is. And on the court, the stars exert the most. And, as we've seen, Love is not shy about letting people know about his displeasure. This will exert exactly the same sort of psychological pressure on refs as Carmelo does. In other words, it cuts both ways: we have a star too. Just not against the knicks last time out.

The Twolves are in a funk. It's weird but since Rubio has gotten back, they are 1-4 in their last 5 games. I'm not blaming Ricky Rubio but it has been strange. They lost another close game last night. Kevin Love got held to 7 points. That probably hasn't happened since his rookie year. It's very strange as he just doesn't look like the Love we know. This guy is a MVP Candidate usually but he has been in the worst slump of his career. On the bright side, Sved is amazing. Every night he puts up 15 to 18 points, gets assists, rebounds, steals and plays solid defense. What a find he was. Rubio has been solid too as well as Pekovic. Hope they turn it around soon because they were the number 6 seed a week ago but they are dropping fast.

I think Kevin Love getting out of his slump will help alot. Hopefully he does soon. They just cannot afford to keep losing these games by 2 to 4 points and especially at home! Let's go Timberwolves. Get it going guys!

The Twolves are back on the winning track. Tonight was a very entertaining game from both sides. The Suns were led by Luis Scola who had 34 points and Dragic had a great game as well. The Twolves had 3 of their starting 5 players score over 20 points. Kevin Love was back to his usual self. Pekovic was awesome and Kirelenko put on a high flying show worthy of the circus. Just a great game to watch regardless of who you rooted for. Goran Dragic also had two very nice two handed dunks. This kid can really fly and the Suns were very lucky to get him back.

Yes the bad luck is unimaginable thus far for Minnesota. The bright side is that now they are only one game behind Denver and still playoff eligible. They keep finding different ways to win with or without Love. As you said the xrays were negative and it was a huge win on the road. That's also the second time they beat the Nuggets who are in their division. Nothing better than division wins as we get into the second half of the season before too long. Love did look better on the boards before getting hurt. He had 17 rebounds. I think Kevin has to be liking what he has seen so far. They find ways to win at home or on the road. To be above 500 with the injuries is pretty crazy when you think about it. When Chase comes back, this team will go to another level. Also, you can only hold Kevin Love down for so long. He will start to shoot better soon. He is far too talented not to. Sved has been amazing too. They play tommorow night so let's hope they can get a descent winning streak going.

Man, that really sucks. I knew he sat out the second half of their game against Denver because they said he "sprained" a finger. Now we know it's much worse than that...an actual fracture .

The Hawks started one white boy, Kyle Korver, who played for 31 minutes of this game; which means that at least 5 or more whites were on the court for a good portion of this game It must be pointed out that Pekovic has been the true leader of the team this season, and Love rehabbing his injury for potentially the rest of the season may be a good thing; especially considering his seemingly poor attitude with management that has noticeably affected his play.

The best case scenario for this team is them putting together some decent win streaks and passing up the mediocre nuggets, and Love and Rubio returning to full form come playoff time. That and a Chase Budinger return would truly make them the "Cream Team".

Nice post and welcome to the site. Pek was a beast last night and seems to be the guy "stepping up". Rubio had 8 assists off the bench which is a positive development.

Welcome to the board from me too. Just to give you a better sense of how good our guys played last night let's look at 3 of the starting 5 players on Minnesota. Pekovic with 25 points/18 rebounds, Kirelenko with 21 pts, and Sved with 17 points and 7 assists. A. Sved should be one of the finalists for rookie of the year. He has been amazing! Then add Rubio and damn is this a talented team even when injured. Of course they have been banged up all year but they have to keep this team together. The bad luck and injuries have to end at some point. The law of averages tells us that. I have a bad feeling about tonight though as they play Oklahoma in the 2nd night of back to back games and they have a short roster. Plus Oklahoma wants revenge from the Twolves beating them the last game in their house! I hope they suprise me though.

All I ask is that they keep this team together. Give these guys a few years to see what they can do. Especially when healthy. I would bet that they would be around 10 games above 500 now if healthy. Hoping for good health in the new year! One last thing. Chase Budinger is going to be evaluated by the doctor soon. He may come back in Feb instead of March but they have to be careful. We saw what happened when they rushed Love back and even Rubio has come back a little sooner than healthy. Make sure Chase is ready. I can't wait for him and Love to rejoin the team. They will be special.
