Thanks, I've been busy of late. I believe Shoemaker actually has 15 touchdowns. Either way, that's an excellent amount and he's had a really great season.

Ryan Swope set Texas A&M single-season records this year with his 81 catches and 1,102 yards (that is before his bowl game performance, as well). despite this, he gets very little media recognition ... however, the color commentator in their bowl game today is raving about him. less than 7 minutes into the game, he's already described Swope as having "game-breaking speed," "the most explosive player A&M has on their offense," "shifty and difficult to tackle in the open field," and so on. it's nice to hear.

and while i'm talking about our wideouts, Conner Vernon's year earned far too little acclaim. he is the first player in ACC HISTORY to have 70 or more catches in multiple years. Vernon has done it two years in a row. he also tied the school single-season record with 9 games of 5-or-more receptions. after three seasons, Conner is second in career marks at Duke for catches (198), yards (2,675), and eighth in touchdown catches (13).

finally, i want to mention Tyler Shoemaker's tremendous year for Boise State. the "overachieving" former walk-on shattered the school's single-season touchdown receptions record with 16, but he also compares very favorably to the two "real" wideouts from Boise State who were drafted by the NFL a season ago. please compare Shoemaker's numbers with those of Titus Young (drafted in the 2nd Round of 2011 NFL Draft, #44 overall) and Austin Pettis (drafted in the 3rd Round of 2011 NFL Draft, #78 overall) below.

Young: 71 catches, 1,215 yards, 9 touchdowns, 17.1 yards-per-catch, with a long of 83.
Pettis: 71 catches, 951 yards, 10 touchdowns, 13.4 yards-per-catch, with a long of 58.
Shoemaker: 62 catches, 994 yards, 16 touchdowns, 16.0 yards-per, with a long of 62.

all three players had the same quarterback, played in the same system, against the same competition, and so on ... furthermore, Shoemaker has comparable size (6-1, 213-pounds) to both Young (5-11, 174-pounds) and Pettis (6-3, 207-pounds) ... so it will be "interesting" to see how the so-called experts in the NFL "evaluate" Shoemaker come draft time.

i suspect the difference in their respective draft "analysis" and the resulting draft position of Shoemaker will provide yet more evidence of the Caste System double standard.

unfortunately, Jeremy Ebert had a disappointing final game to his outstanding collegiate career at Northwestern, finishing with only 4 catches for 35 yards in their bowl game today against A&M, although he did complete a pass on a 2-point conversion. however, that shouldn't take away from his brilliance throughout his career.

this season, he was the Big Ten's most explosive wide receiver. he was one of only two wideouts (along with Illinois senior A.J. Jenkins) that had 3 catches of 60 yards or more. Ebert's 3 longest plays also all resulted in touchdowns: 62 yards, 81 yards, and 90 yards, and his 90-yard touchdown catch-and-run was the longest play from scrimmage by any Big Ten player all season.

he finished with 11 touchdown catches on the year.

at 6-0 tall and 195-pounds, and with explosive playmaking speed, Jeremy Ebert has everything the NFL "talent" "evaluators" claim they are looking for. it will be interesting to see what happens to him within the backwards world of the Caste System.

I was looking at some early previews for next season and something caught my eye.
A nearly unheard of situation will exist in the SEC next year, as there will be two teams whose leading receivers are white. Of course, these are "new arrivals", but they're in the league now.

I do wonder, however, if history will repeat itself for Moe and Swope.
I trust black coaches even less than I trust black presidents, so I can easily see Sumlin reworking Texas A&M to be less Swope-friendly. Breaking in a new quarterback won't help him, either. However, the SEC generally is poor in pass defense and as long as Sumlin keeps the Briles playbook that he's been thriving off of, there ought to be opportunities to pile up statistics.

Things might be worse for Moe. His production went way down with the arrival of running black quarterback Franklin. He still led the team in receptions and yards, but the offense seems to have solidified around a heavy dose of QB scrambles. Losing a tight end who was the second leading receiver will just encourage Franklin to take off running even sooner.

It's a shame SMU isn't moving to the Big East until 2013. Because Zach Line would be the "leading returning rusher" for a BCS conference .

Are you referring to Showers?
He's a leftover recruit from Sherman's short-lived experiment in "dynamic quarterbacks". There's no way he could beat out the other players on the roster in a fair competition to be a pass-first quarterback. My guess is that Joeckel will win the starting job.
If Sumlin installs Showers as starting quarterback in the Fall, then he's nothing more than an obvious racist who chooses skin-loyalty over the best interests of his team.

How many white receivers were invited to the Combine last year? If I remember correctly it was four or five. Anyway, all the scouting sites are predicting that one, maybe two white receivers get drafted this year with Danny Coale being a lock. Obviously we always do slightly better than these "experts" predictions.

because Corp was highly touted by the recruiting services. Rivals had him at 4 stars and Scout had him at 5 stars for his position. Usually when you see someone going in the combine/draft and you are wondering wtf (even with the caste system)? its because the recruiting services had them highly ranked coming out of high school. We all know what kind of people run these sites and that its usually affletes that get the benefits. At least Corp is White and hopefully can perform well at the next level and someone gives Davis a shot. Personally I would like to see the Saints pick him up, they have made Chase Daniel look good and I don't think he is as talented as Davis. I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis turn into the quarterback that RGIII is supposed to be.

Shoemaker was the biggest snub. He is big, physical and fast. I guess they are trying to keep those types out of the NFL with the success of Nelson and his 1k season and Cooper averaging 80 yards per start. The 3 invited are on the smaller side, although Coale and Wylie can stretch defenses and will put up some good numbers at the combine they will probably be casted as slot receivers. Cooper is a prototypical slot receiver from I have seen.

after impressing this past week at the practices and then in the game, Fresno State's Devon Wylie is drawing comparisons to ... wait for it ... Wes Welker. who could've guessed! :dodgy:

WR Devon Wylie, Fresno State: Last names that begin with the letter "W" aren't the only similarity Wylie has with Wes Welker as the Fresno State receiver shows the short-area burst and quickness to work in the short-half of the field. He fights the ball at times and is a smaller target, but he makes sharp, decisive cuts and flashed an elusive quality in practices. Wylie looks best as a "Y" receiver in the slot and also offers value as a punt returner.

Welker and Wylie share similarities in physical appearance (both are about 5-9 and White), but otherwise they differ greatly from a physical standpoint and on the field. Welker has been completely dominant and (barring his knee injury a couple of years ago) durable throughout his career, both collegiately and in the pros, despite having only average long speed and leaping ability. his hands are the stuff of legend, though, and his short-area quickness is incredible. the latter of which Wylie appears to share. Devon, though, has struggled with drops while having explosive long speed (reported to be the fastest player in Fresno State history) and leaping ability (37 1/2 inch vertical). he has also been plagued with injuries throughout his collegiate playing days and has not shown the total dominance of Wes.

Devon has the physical tools to be an excellent player in the NFL, but comparing him to the best in the game (Welker) is very pre-mature and apparently only due to their shared pigmentation.

The 2011 season for WRs is over, but already the 2012 season for wide receivers will be down one potential white star.
Seriously talented Arkansas WR Kane Whitehurst has been moved to safety, per a post on the Arkansas forums (and they usually have program info).
Whitehurst's highlight reel was the best I've ever seen for a wide receiver. I find it hard to thank Petrino for giving him a scholarship (even though nobody else was interested), since he's most likely never going to be a starter on defense for the Razorbacks. I would like to see him transfer, but I have no idea where he could go and be treated fairly. Certainly not to the new Malzahnified Arkansas State. And transferring "down" to Central Arkansas, which is common for Arkansas players, is not an option for white players. Their coach is from the Jerry Jones "I like his bubble butt!" school of football recruiting.
Perhaps some of the Razorbacks WRs will submit to their native tendencies and end up ineligible next season.
