If I would have know about Jared and his nerves, I would have never made my prediction back in spring. What a shame that a guy with so much talent has stage fright. He is getting married in the next year so maybe that is distracting him as well. Good luck to him in the future but my hopes of fast times are gone.<div></div><div>Brandon Byram has regressed. He was actually faster last season. I wonder if he will continue to run anymore. He was a senior this season so I believe he graduated in May.</div>

Ryan Krais, who we spoke about a lot a few yrs ago, when she was a high school phenom, took 2nd in the heptathlon at the US Championships.
She was only 28 pts from the winner.
I'm watching NBC, and they barely mentioned her.
Anyway, I'm glad she's been able to transfer her high school talent to the national level.

Jessie "The Kangaroo" Williams is incredible. I had to give him a new nickname. I used to watch this guy jump back in college. Simply amazing athlete.

As far as Wariner goes. Yes I was frustrated as he has been virtually unbeatable over the last 7 years or so. On the bright side though is the fact that this will make him train even harder. If he can lose to a teammate who is unheard of, he can lose to anyone. I think this will be good for him as he still has 2 months to prepare for the World Champs. Compare that to what Tyson Gay and Wallace Spearmon must be thinking at the moment. I would rather be Wariner.

The good news for Wariner supporters is his fading late is probably due to conditioning as he had the lead coming home in the 400 and the best part of his race when he is at his best is the final 100. If he can get the conditioning to power through the final 100 then he can win World Championship gold as the event is up for grabs. I don't think there is a sub 44 sprinter right now. I noticed many NCAA sprinters didn't do as well as they did in the NCAA's. Peaking twice or even three times is too hard against pro athletes who only have to peak once.

In the UK, Danny Talbot won the 200 running a time of 21.01 with Richard Kilty not too far behind in atime of 21.16 wind legal.

Sunday was nice, with Williams winning the high jump, Symonds the 800m, and Centrowitz beating mercenary Lagat in the 1500m. Also, hottie Maggie Vessey was 2nd in the women's 800m, with Krais 2nd in the heptathlon, so all in all, not a bad day.

Just one comment on some of the American sprinters. Carmelita Jeter is definitely on something, and we know Justin Gatlin is a convicted cheater. But to me, the most ludicrous of all is David Oliver. I know a thing or two about fitness, and I'm telling you that no amount of exercise, diet, hardwork, and genetics can give those comic-book deltoids. This guy is clearly roided up, no doubt in my mind.

In my estimation, the only clean sprinters we can say for certain are Jeremy Wariner and Allyson Felix.

in Szczecin today

The men's 100m ended with an expected victory for former World champion Kim Collins. However, Poland's Dariusz Kuc put up a good challenge, closing up on Collins in the second half to finish in 10.25 to 10.20 for the St. Kitts sprinter.

I believe this race with Kuc was from yesterday and he did represent Poland with a good performance.<div></div><div>Dariusz Kuc has now ran 10.18, 10.15, 10.24, and 10.25 in his last 4 races. All of them were wind legal so he is having his best season as a sprinter ever at the age of 25. If he can just find that extra gear, we are looking at a sub 10.10 hopefully by the world champs if the conditions are right.</div>

Matteo Galvan who is a young 200/400m guy from Italy, surprisingly won the Italian 100m championships in 10.38 into a headwind of -0.7 m/s.
Not a great time, but he beat Italy's big guns, so maybe there's some potential there if he moves down to the 100m.

Its a sad day for Italian sprinting if Collio, DiGregorio and Cerutti cant run under 10.4 despite the wind. Man this is very upsetting.

Very true Matt. The italians have really went downhill the last few years. Your talking about guys with nice personal bests like Collio(10.06), Cerutti(10.13)and DeGregario(10.14). What a shame. They need to get some young guys to step it up.

It's hard to keep track of the little meets, but hopefully someone will get the results of the July 1, Harry Jerome Invitational. It's got a few runners to watch:

Hannah Cunliffe running against professionals (!) in the 100
Cas Loxsom and Ryan Foster in the 800
And, of course, there could always be a breakout performance by names we don't recognize

he said he was surprised because he is a 200-400 m runner, but i see big things in the future for him
in fact, he is my favorite sprinter
he said he had surgery recently, so he was even more surprised by his win
i will keep an eye on him

andrew howe, the black italian, lost in the long jump against a white italian, and decided to focus on sprint, 200m
galvan was expected to beat him in the 200m at these champs, but he pulled out, due to a muscle contracture

great to see a northern italian do well in sprint, i wish more would do it, especially in brasil
when you see what northern italian keitel did, you tell yoursefl that if the italo-brazilian start to do sprints...

galvan said he didn't expect to win, he only ran the 100m as a warm up for the 200m
</span></span>

he smashed his PB on the 100m, with a head wind, while not taking it serously
i wonder what he can do in the 200m

I dont mean to be rude Frederic but if you are referring to Sebastian Keitel he was from Chile though his last name is Germanic. Its funny how 15 years ago Chiles 4x100 team had four German last names running for it. Nazi influence anyone?

mattharper, keitel is of german descent by his father, and northern italian by his mother (her name is bianchi)

keitel's familiy was in chile while the second world war was happening, he is not related to the nazis

Wow. What a race. Thanks for posting that frederic and for also giving us a little history into the family. Very interesting stuff. He looks like a great guy. Collio and DeGregario will so close. Even Cerutti was within striking distance but Galvan held them all of. I hope he starts racing 100/200 in the future.

What's great about this guy too is that he looks pretty athletic but it doesn't look like he's using PEDs. Now just get him on that Steve Mullings training program and he'll be running 9.80's into a headwind in no time!

Seriously though he's a great natural talent with lots of potential. Good find!

What kind of nonsense question is this? Germanic people are all over the world, including in South America. Germans have been in Chile for generations. You sound like someone who has gotten their view of 1930's Germany from only Jewish sources, like the History(Hitler) Channel. Do some research about the Jewish Communists who were mass murdering Russian and Ukrainian people in the 1920's and 1930's. Research The Red Terror, the gulags, and the Holodomor. Look at thepictures of the starving Ukrainian children( AOL search Holodomor), whose food was taken away by the Soviet Jewish commissars. Then you can begin to understand thebehavior of the Germans in the 1930's.

It is great to hear about a country that has Germanic men running track on the national team. Maybe you prefer the USA model of blacks only.
