There is no doubt in my mind that Pat Angerer would be just as good as Clay Matthews and Brian Cushing if he was a starter. He was good during the preseason and although he never received the hype that those two did this kid can flat out play.
I was watching the highlights of new NFL superhero Arian Foster shred the Colts' sorry, undersizeddefense. This is the same Foster that ran in the 4.7's prior to the 2009 draft.
Didn't hurt Foster, especially after Bob Sanders left. The Colts' next two safeties, who were drafted/signed well after Matt Giordano and Brannon "wigger" Condren, looked as slow as heck out there. They couldn't even chase down a slow-poke/ ex-practice squad scrub. Had Giordano and Condren (who both ran Bob Sanders' like 4.4's) been out there yesterday and played like that, there would've been a
"Million DWF March" down to Lucas Oil Stadium, threatining to burntheir season ticketsif Brannon and Matt were not cut ASAP. But since a pair of slow "superhero's" looked like crap, no big deal.
As far as Brackett is concerned,a few years ago I read seperate articles about Chase Blackburn and Troy Evans.
Bothhinted totheir local papers (where they grew up), that the NFL had some sort of caste system, believe it or not! Did they mention race? Not at all, they both alluded to the fact that they were typecaste as career backups/special teamers because they came into the NFL as undrafted free agents. Both said it probably didn't matter how well they played or how much they made (Blackburn makes good $ for a backup), that starting fulltime would always be out of their grasp.
Seems like, however, guys like Brackett, Antonio Pierce, Gary Guyton, London Fletcher and Bart Scott are not held to the same standards. They get to start for years and have become media darlingsbecause they went undrafted and are so "scrappy" and "heady". Only way a white LB can expect to start is if he's a drafted fairly high (top 3 rounds?). Look how the Rams suddenly demoted ex-low rounders Vobra and Chamberlain, who played well in 2009,in favor of scrub street free agents other teams cut/deemed uselessafter the 2009 season
Angerer will have a chance to start, because he was a 2nd rounder, but my guess is he'll have to wait quite a while to get his shot and will always have to look over hisshoulder -- as many undrafted superhero LB's with 5.0/40 speed possess the scary potential most retarded DWF's lust for
