Aaron Schobel, who was released by the Bills, is a good bet to land with the Texans. It would be a fantastic addition, IMHO. Here is a story about what coach Kubiak thinks:

The Houston Texans and former Buffalo Bills pass rusher Aaron Schobel(notes) could be a match, at least judging by the comments of coach Gary Kubiak and Schobel in recent days.

"If I were a free agent and I could choose a team, it would be the Texans, without a doubt," Schobel told the Houston Chronicle earlier this week prior to his official release from the Bills.





Now, Kubiak has weighed in on Schobel, a Texas native,and sounds interested.





"He's a heck of a player, obviously," Kubiak said today in remarks distributed by the team. "I've followed him for a lot of years and being a local guy, you know him around town here. But we are going to do our homework on him like we do on every player. He's a fine football player. We'll do our homework just like every other team and see what happens."Â￾





Defensive line coach Bill Kollar speaks highly of Schobel and has coached him before.





"He has obviously coached him and thinks a lot of him as a player,"Kubiak said. "That's part of this league, players are released and with stuff going on around you just sit there and usually one of us have a relationship with somebody. So from that standpoint, Bill speaks very highly of him."Â￾

Just so Schobel doesn't hold back the development (racial apprenticeship) of Connor Barwin. Unfortunately they're both excellentdefensive endsand Mario Williams isn't going to be benched to make way for Aaron. As it is Barwin is currently slated to split time (or worse) this season with Antonio Smith, who has never had more than 43 tackles or 5.5 sacks in any of his six seasons. Edited by: Don Wassall

Schobel is one of the more underrated players of the past decade. The move does make sense for him, the Texans are a team that seems to be ready to make the leap to a very good team. They are fairly white friendly, I still think Barwin would get his fair share of snaps as well.

Coach Gary Kubiak reiterated that Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones are going "head-to-head" for the No. 2 starting job in camp.

"Kevin's the starter; he's earned that right," said Kubiak. [But] we've got a heck of a player (Jones) pushing to be a starter in this league. We're putting them right down the middle. It's very competitive." It's one of the most important fantasy battles in the league this summer. If Jones can push Walter into the slot, he's among the best breakout candidates going.

so it looks like it may finally happen. Kevin had a slower season last year and now he will pay for it, most likely.

Texans owner Bob McNair is lobbying the NFL to reduce SLB Brian Cushing's four-game suspension, which Cushing received for violating the league's steroid policy.

McNair will "present new evidence" to commissioner Goodell on Monday. It's nice to see an owner sticking up for a player considering all the labor discord in the league, but this isn't going to work. It would be unprecedented for Goodell to reduce a player's suspension based on an owner's suggestion. Cushing's also been linked to steroids dating back to high school.

Rotoworld is really starting to piss me off. They are obviously showing their agenda. "Linked to steroids since high school"? Wasn't all of that just speculation and rumours? I mean I don't recall any proof of him juicing before the NFL besides that picture everyone likes to bring up. Am I missing something? I mean he could have been using steroids since high school, but there is no proof that I know of, which means he isn't "linked", it just means they think he has been using.... I definitely don't see any black players go through this type of scrutiny.

I think the reason everyone is coming down on Cushing hard is because he's so good. Since he's white I guess he couldn't accomplish what he did so far in the NFL without the use of PED's. That is the medias and DWF's take on the matter.

Some news on Kevin Walter.

The battle for the No. 2 receiving job was a lackluster one in the
preseason opener; Matt Schaub targeted Kevin Walter once (16-yard catch)
and Jacoby Jones zero times. Jones had an end-around for a loss of four
yards. He was later targeted often by Dan Orlovsky, but it's not a good
thing that he wasn't involved with the first-string offense.

Walter started the game for whatever that's worth. After he made his catch he was praised as a very goodsecond starterby the play by play announcer. Walter is just so all-around solid while Jones is so erratic and with bad hands to boot that Kevin should be able to hold off the supposedly "electric" Jones for this season anyway.

Unless Toby gets injured, he will outshine Tate which is the way it should be. Toby is the "true" big, powerful (and athletic) back.

Yeah, the black guy got injured, and, so what? He was destined to get more opportunity because he landed where Toby should have landed. I'm also amazed at the kind of hype Tate was receiving, as I wasn't previously aware it was that out of control. Frankly, I'll take all the help we can get, and Toby definitely got hosed in the Draft.

Jacoby Jones continues to get so much hype as the Texans' potential new second starting WR, including from Gary Kubiak, that one wonders if the team's blacks won't start sulking if he doesn't soon replace Kevin Walter, who is one of the best all-around #2 WRs in the league.

Jacoby Jones has been temporarily removed from punt return duties so he can focus on the competition for the No. 2 receiver battle. Jones led the Texans with five catches in the opener, and he's shown more consistency with his hands in camp. His status on punt returns hinges on rookie Trindon Holliday making the final roster.

Walter had two good season with 800 and 899 yards receiving. His numbers dipped last season to just 611 yards. Normally this wouldn't be an issue for an afflete but when a white guy slows his production even slightly it's back to the bench.

Yet again Rotoworld manages to put a negative spin on things when it involves a white player.

Kevin Walter started opposite Andre Johnson in Saturday's exhibition game and caught one pass for 32 yards.

I watched the Texans-Saints game last night...sure Jacoby Jones is making strides..big deal. Kevin Walter is firmly entrenched at #2 WR! Very natural athlete....

Announcer Solomon Wilcots(an actual former player) was totally impressed...and raved over &amp; over about the TE's situation how deep it waswith Owen Daniel, Garrett Graham, Joel Dreesen...and very athletic James Casey who caught a pass against his body twisting his body then changing direction all in a fluid motion!

David Anderson should easily be #4 or #5 once again this season with 3 catches for 61 yards...drawing comparison to Edelman who torched the Saints last week.

These fat balding never played a sport geeks from rotoworld have virtually no say so in the matter..

I don't think Jacoby Jones made any big strides (unless he has been completly awful). He was going against second and 3rd stringers and looked mediocre, he even tripped over himself onone route(it seemed like quite a few affletes tackled themselves in this game). Walter beat Greer (who is supposed to be one of the bettercorners in the league, he is one of the few that has consitently shut down Moss) for 32 yards, He caught another one but it was considered out of bounds (im pretty sure that was Walter) and then the backup overthrew him on his other target in the endzone. Jones was targeted quite a bit and didn't look special at all, he doesn't look like someone competing for a number 2 spot, maybe not even the number 3 spot, (which I think Anderson should be at)

Andre Johnson looked like he was done for the season with the hit Tracy Porter gave him in the knee, but supposedly the new turf helps prevent these knee injuries and was okay (he launched right into the knee and it bent really bad). If that had happened we might have seen significant playing time from Walter and Anderson.

The Texan's running gamedidn't look very good, and thiswas against a defense that was horrible against the run last year.I bet they feel stupid for not taking Gerhart.

The midget Holliday is 5'5 165 pounds but was drafted in the 6th, he dropped a punt which was recovered and then dropped a kickoff, he could have taken it back quite a ways but he spent much of the time trying to secure it then he had to kneel. He is supposedly big enough to get drafted as just as areturn man but guys like Woodhead and Hall are considered "too small" even though they are much taller and have more bulk.

I know Jimmy Chitwood and I have talked about this on more than one occasion and discussed it here as well. Black self-tackling is indeed a phenomenon. It happens all the time in both college football and the NFL and usually goes unannounced by the castean talking heads in the booth. For all their supposed "superior affleticism" they sure have a tough time raising their feet above the grasp of the wily, and evidently racist field surface.

With all of the pathetic black oafs on defense, I think Holliday, even though diminutive, could have some success as a (change-of-pace) RB in the NFL.

If slow-pokes like Maurice Jones-Drew can "school" NFL defenses, why not Holliday? I don't worship this guy or anything, but I'm just putting some ideas out there...

Leinart will step in as Matt Schaub's backup, ahead of Dan Orlovsky. There's a chance that Leinart's camp saw Houston as a good landing spot because of Schaub's injury history, but the stronger bet is that no other teams showed interest. The former Heisman Trophy winner bungled a golden opportunity in Arizona by failing to earn the respect of his teammates and coaches on or off the field. Leinart's long-term role in the league may very well be as clipboard-holding No. 2 quarterback.
