It's possible that the Patriots will have two white starters on defense this season. Rob Nikovich is one and they may sign Schobel.

Mike Wright, who played a lot last season, is currently listed as the starter at right end.

Good catch Don. I didn't think Wright was white given his name. If the Patriots do end up signing Schobel then I'm hoping he plays on the other side ahead of Gerard Warren. Some depth charts have the sumo Warren as playing end though he's 325lbs and played tackle.

I hope Schobel signs with them because if he ends up with the Texans he'll only add to Connor Barwin's racial apprenticeship.

Houston is the leading candidate for Schoebel, with New England and Seattle also a possibility.

Hopefully Mike Wright can finally "earn" (he already has, and then some) a starting spot on that perpetually dreadful New England defensive line.

The Pats could possibly have up to 9 starters on offense (Brady, 5 OL, Welker, Edelman, and Rob Gronkowski), and possibly 2 on defense. If Mike Wright can beat out Ty Warren or Gerrard Warren at DE, he may start"¦also, OLB Ninkovich could potentially beat out rookie 2nd round pick Jermaine Cunningham.

Gronkowski has to beat out obese afflete Alge Crumpler. While we all know who the better player is Gronkowski may have to serve his racial apprenticeship behind the black veteran.

Aaron Hernandez is Gronkowski's primary competition, at least beyond Crumpler's last gasps as an "honored" (fatass) veteran.

Not only could Schobel affect Barwin, but he could also push young backups Tim Bulman and Jesse Nading off the roster. Schobel going to the Texans does seem like a better fit, however: He's from Texas, will continue to be a 4-3 DE in Houstonand he knows Texans coach Bill Collar well from his days in Buffalo. Collar, an ex-NFL defensive lineman, by the way, has always seemed to be very fair to white D-Lineman. He always seemed to give these guys chances to startin St. Louis, Atlanta and Buffalo. And he's been rewarded, as even latter round picks like Brian Young and Kyle Williams (to go along with high picks --Wistrom, Kerney, Schobel,Kelsey, Ect.)really blossomed thanks to him giving them a chance. Had Young and Williams been in Jacksonville or Washington, they would've never made it, perhaps beyond a few years as backup/rotation types?

Aaron going to the Pats is what I'm rooting for, because he can probably extend his career a bit playing for a veteran team that willuse him at OLB. I think if things were "fair", Ninkovich would be startingalready after a surprising showing in 2009and billed as the next Vrabel in NE. Thing is, however, if things were really "fair", Ninkovich would not have been cut several times already -- New Orleans, Miami, ect -- and he would havebeen ahigher pick than his less-productive Purdue teammate Ray Edwards coming out of college. What am I saying?

No way the caste Patriots (on defense/not so much on offense)start Ninko over a high pick from Florida. They would start Schobel right away, due to histalent and reputation. He's one of the few white defenders that does seem like a perfect fit for the Patriots. I even think the caste media would agree that he's a perfect fit for the Pats.

Truthteller, some depth charts I have looked at have Ninkovich as a starter so it's possible he will start this season.

Supposedly, the Patriots have been allowing Julian Edelman to practice with both the wide receivers and running backs during camp. I'd prefer him to start at WR alongside Moss and Welker"¦but since the Patriots running backs (aside from Kevin Faulk) have been dreadful for years, Edelman getting a few carries per game (in addition to playing WR) may be the preferred route to showcasing his athleticism to the members of the DWF Kingdom.

From Rotoworld"¦

"Patriots WR Julian Edelman has been getting some snaps as a wingback in passing situations during camp.
Beat writer Ian Rapoport speculates that this could be a new third-down wrinkle in the Patriots' offense. Wes Welker now appears very likely to be ready for Week 1, so the Pats are trying to carve out a role for the versatile Edelman. He's no longer worth a flier in 10- or 12-team re-draft leagues."Â￾

From Patriots.com"¦

"Bill Belichick watched the former seventh-round pick make a remarkably quick adjustment to a new position a year ago in camp and is perhaps looking to see if he can do the same at running back. Edelman looks like a candidate for some third-down duties out of the backfield, and it's possible that Belichick is looking to bolster the depth behind Kevin Faulk in that role."Â￾

It would be nice to see Edelman takinghandoffs but, whynot put Welker in the backfield? the guy does everything Marshall Faulk did in for the Rams (mainly in 99)except line up the backfield. He has the perfect skillset to be a runningback as well as lining up in the slot. He was a rb in high school if i recall. He gets at least 700 or 800of his yards after the catch every season.I never understod why they haven't put him at tailback (besides him being white). I would rather see Edelman more at wide receiver and Welker switched back and forth from slot/tailback.

It would be exciting if Edelman got some carries. He rushed for 1,370 yards his senior year so he has excellent rushing ability. He led the nation in rushing by a quarterback that year. That's way better than Convick's senior year in college when he rushed for 636 yards.

Tory Holt by all accounts is washed up, and the Patriots are weak at WR after Moss and Welker, so hopefully Edelman will be utilized a lot even after Wes is back. Since the Colts "got away" with using Dallas Clark and Austin Collie so much last year as receiving threats, the Patriots have "permission" to make use of two White receivers at the same time without stirring up too much "controversy."

This was probably mentioned a while back but it's worth stating again. Here is some info on Edelman's athleticism.

Edelman really impressed at his pro day workout in the Kent State Field
House. Edelman ran a 4.51 second 40-yard dash, which would have topped
all quarterbacks at the NFL Scouting Combine in February and placed him
in the top 15 among receivers. Edelman's times of 3.91 seconds in the
short shuttle and 10.74 in the long shuttle would have been the fastest
times recorded at the Combine, regardless of position. NFL people asked
him to run the short shuttle again because they didn't believe the
number and Edelman actually ran it even faster the next time.

By the way his best rushing numbers in college are even better than Frost and Crouch's numbers.

I hope Edelman gets plenty of carries this year, he has the talent to take great advantage of this opportunity.

The fact that Ty Warren's hip injury is somehow "huge news"Â￾ is absolute proof that ESPN doesn't check stats whatsoever.

I've seen Warren play for years"¦he's so awesomely average it's a mind-boggling that he's started almost every game since being drafted by the Pats.

Warren has had 7 TOTAL sacks in the past three seasons, and no more than 35 tackles per season during that span. How is this "a huge loss?"Â￾

Rob Ninkovich and Mike Wright (and possibly Aaron Schobel, should they sign him) could benefit from this "disastrous injury."Â￾

Yeah, that's just his solo tackles. Compared to other black linemen that have been so atrocious, I would say that Warren has been "better than average"..

Just to post his profile for anyone who wants to see it: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/396180/ty-warren

I do largely agree with you, though. Other than his 84 tackle season, he hasn't lived up to being the 13th Overall pick.

Two excellent tackle seasons, butvery pedestrian statssince '06, and not much of a sacker. Still, Warren is a Hall of Famer compared to the vast majority of black d-linemen drafted early over the past decade or so.
