Phil Jackson and the Lakers will NOT don the "Los Lakers" jersey for the entire playoffs. Because they find it senseless mixing politics with basketball. Excellent move for the Lakers, I see they've got more common sense than the Suns franchise. I'm also glad Gasol is being silent on the issue (for now).

Imagine if Dallas made it this far, idiotic Mark Cuban might easily jump into the ANTI-law bandwagon and have those "Los Mavs" jerseys donned. Not to mention Dirk being forced to make a comment on the Arizona law, and seeing he's good buddies with Nash, I imagine he'll follow his lead. But thankfully, the Mavs got eliminated, and I'm sure this stupid political fiasco will eventually cool down come next season. Whatever Dirk's opinions are, I'm glad he's keeping it to himself.

First off, congrats to the Lakers tonight. They destroyed the Suns. I can't see it happening again in game two. It should be a different game but the Lakers did whatever they wanted in game one. Kobe was amazing. Like him or not, he played great along with Gasol and Odom.

What really made me angry other than the huge loss was all of the protesting outside the stadium. I'm so sick of americans protesting against AZ and anyteam that is from here. They were evern protesting against the Lakers as well since Phil Jackson said he agrees with the law. What has America come to? This nation is sinking quick!

Let's see what happens in game two. Again I congratulate the Lakers on the best performance of the nba playoffs thus far.

I think the Suns will play better going forward, but tonight's game exposed a few things. On the defensive side, they cannot stop Kobe or any of the bigs. Gasol was abusing Amare down low and Odom had a great all-around game. Offensively, they could not get their pick-and-roll going because the Lakers did a very good job defending it. The Lakers are also a very good perimiter defensive team, and took away the Suns 3-point shooting. LA is nothing like San Antonio or Portland and the Suns are overmatched on both sides of the ball.

If the Lakers win game 2 convincingly, then this will be a short series, 4-5 games. If the Suns make it more respectable, then I'll stand by my original prediction of LA in 6.

WL I think most of the protesters are misguided American Hispanics, illegal Aliens, Misguided White libs and other miscreants who want something for nothing. Basically a bunch of losers financed by us.

On to the game, yeah, Lakers were running on all cylinders. If Kobe and Gasol continue there level of play, this series could be over in four.

I don't see Gasol winning Finals MVP, and it's a no brainer. Kobe's ego is incredibly huge, and it's his right to be so. He's always been the awesome talent that he is, blessed with superstar help in Gasol and Odom.

The Suns though, are not out yet. They'll make some serious adjustment. I can only imagine what it's like to be a WWII veteran. You fought so hard for the red, white, and blue, for all the good it stands for, only to see it break apart from within. Very sad indeed.

The NBA has a pathetic product and it's all the result of how the game is called and hence how it is played. Kobe may be a great player, but does the guy have to get every single call? What a joke. Watch him push off with both hands on every offensive possesion and then get rewarded by going to the line. I would say over half of the calls in the game and every NBA game are wrong - that's why they rarely replay a foul call. There is absolutely no excitement in NBA basketball. Reminds me of 3 of the 4 games the Kings "lost" to the Lakers in the 2002 Western Conference series. Probably MORE THAN HALF the calls were wrong and all the wrong calls went against the Kings. I stopped watching NBA basketball until last year because of it, but I'm probably just torturing myself attempting to watch this joke of a "product" again.

I didn't get to watch game 1 of the Suns vs. Lakers, so I don't know if Kobe was GRANTED a lot of calls like he usually is. If LA beats the Suns, hopefully it will be fair and square. You know the NBA, media and Donaghy refs want to see Lakers/ Celtics.

I'm off for the first time in a while today- so I'll probably try to catch the Magic game, but I normally don't get home from work until about 10 or 10:30 PM. If the Suns are getting blown out when I get home tomorrow I won't find it worth it to watch.

.... Well, the first "3" was 3 free throws after being fouled on the three-point attempt, but he's been great, and an absolute BEAST on defense.

And in typical white loathing fashion, there are two horrible calls against J.J at the end of the game which were basically the deciding factor. J.J gets called for a charge when he was already in the air when Glen Davis set his feet and Garnett fouls him in the act of shooting anyway. Then soon after, J.J gets called for a foul when he gets all ball defending Paul Pierce. Pierce goes to the line and hits 2 FTs and Carter misses his two FTs on the next Magic possession. Then J.J makes his only bad play of the game, calling timeout before half court after advancing the ball at the very end there and will receive the wrath of all Orlando DWFs. Redick probably got flustered at the end there after getting absolutely screwed on 2 calls in a row that even the ESPN talking heads criticized! Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis were of course more a reason for the Magic loss than Redick who played well, but of course the DWFs won't notice. Vince Carter the 8 time all star and potential Hall of Famer, HAS to make those shots. He's been around the league for a while, this is the closest he has come to sniffing a Championship. He's expected to be clutch in situations like these! Redick played a hell of a game, and Howard played a great game down low against the Celtics big men.

Carter's shortcomings are making Turkoglu's departure are colossal mistake for the Magic. Carter maybe a better scorer, but Hedo's always been a solid ball-handler/play-maker and a clutch player. He's also a solid defender. Carter has never been known as a clutch and solid defender. Redick has delivered as I expected, and with exception to that timeout mistake, he's played a marvelous game on offense & defense.

Jameer Nelson is a liability die to his size and inept play-making ability, he's just a shooter. Lewis can't do the things Hedo used to do, he's just a shooter also, and so is Matt Barnes. Carter hasn't done much either expect to just shoot. Rondo is going on a tear on both ends due to his size (6'5), athleticism, and uncanny court vision. He's kinda like a young Jason Kidd (not a great shooter). The Magic are indeed putting on a disappearing act.

I also agree that the officiating is horrendous (like what's new?)!

The calls made on Redick were unfairly off the charts!

If I was JJ, I would leave Orlando when my contract is up. He just usually spends way too much time on the bench.

Hoping for the Suns to bounce back tommorow. It will be tough.

JJ looked liked the best player for Orlando when he was on the floor. TJR, I agree those calls on JJ were horrible. In today's NBA an offensive player rarely gets called for a charge even when the defender is a statue and yet they called JJ for a charge after being undercut in midair by a defender that was running at him and never came close to being set. He had two things going against him - he's white and Boston was in Jeopardy of losing. If the NBA isn't fixed then they do a great job of pretending to be.

Looks like several of you seem to think NBA games are fixed. Maybe more of you will reconsider your views on NFL games being fixed as well. I suppose the Donaghy factor has something to do with it; it's kind of hard to argue against it when a ref is confessing to it.

NBA referees completely control the outcome of games, much as they often do in college. The reason I think more CF posters may be receptive to basketball games being fixed than football games is due to the fact that the NBA and NCAA have an overt racial double standard when it comes to fouls and defense, and the race of each basketball player is always clear (whereas a football uniform sometimes masks it, especially for all the racially unaware fans). Thus, it's easy for CF types to realize that all black players are allowed to play "tough" defense, while whites are whistled for bogus fouls.

It would be nice to see Orlando in the finals, and I guess the Suns, but what would that really do? Nash is Phoenix's only white starter, and Orlando presently starts 5 blacks. Yet another Lakers-Celtics series is about as boring a prospect as there is, but in today's NBA, I don't think it would be possible to set up a truly "diverse" championship series.

This game was one of the first NBA games that I've watched any length of in quite a while, and I found it to be apalling. Even with the occasional token white player appearance, it's quite a bit like heading on down to South Central and watching a pick up game. By comparison, the NFL is lily white.

At the opening tip, 10 black guys on the court. Amazing that in this majority white country that there aren't any white guys that can crack that lineup, only "ballers" from the inner city are good enough for the NBA.

As for the bad calls on token white guy Redick, it's his blinding whiteness that throws the refs off, it's so unusual to see, that... that alien life-form on the court, that it's no question that he's at fault.

I doubt that I'll make the mistake of watching another NBA game. At least the Suns and the Lakers START their token white guys, although the Sun's token white guy doesn't mind if this country is overrun by illegals, he'll just head back home to Canada where they don't allow it.

i've not watched a single NBA game this year, but i thought i'dshare an interestingtidbit regarding the Playoffs ...
in his career as a head coach, Phil Jackson's teams are 46-0 in series where they won the first game. the Lakers won the first game against the Suns. it's something to keep an eye on.

I was contemplating the same thing when I saw Rashard Lewis repeatedly get beat on defense or stand by and be idle. It's worth a shot, obviously Van Gundy needs to mix some things up if he wants to make this a series,a nd not get swept. He improvised by playing Redick, now give Anderson some minutes, and play Gortat and Howard at the same time some!

Amare should be getting more heat since he had only three rebounds in Game 1. With his size and athleticism, only getting 3 rebounds indicates a lack of hustle and some softness to his game. He needs to show up big tonight.

As much as I like to see that happen, it won't. Brother Stan is as dumb as his brother Jeff.

It's time for the Suns and Amare to go separate ways. Amare had 3 rebounds in game one and 6 rebounds in game two! He got worked over by Gasol over and over again. Even Odom took turns making him look foolish. How can a perenial all star not understand defense, boxing out and rebounding after all of these years?

Not imagine if the Suns had David Lee. They very well might have won this game. Lee is the 2nd best rebounder in the nba for a couple of years now. Only D.Howard is better. Lee can also score very well as he averaged 20 points per game. The Suns have to make some major changes. The series will be over if they can't win games 3 and 4. It's possible being in Phoenix but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Note to Phoenix. Let Amare go sign somewhere else and go after David Lee, Carlos Boozer or another quality big man.
