Here's another example of a White safety who kicks around for a few seasons without getting any regular season playing time worth mentioning then disappears. There arelots of White DBs in the league like this. They're treated even worse than the many talented White WRs who hang around the margins without ever getting an opportunity to play and develop. From Rotoworld's wire:
<div></div>
<div>Jets waived S Brannon Condren, K Jared Ballman, and DT Mick Williams. A fourth-round pick back in 2007, Condren has bounced around as a special teamer the past couple of years. Ballman failed to impress after being brought in as competition for Nick Folk.</div>

<div>Condren is a guy that went from a absolute "nobody" from Troy State a few years ago, into a fairly high draft pick based on his workouts. Once scouts went back and looked at the tape, they saw he was much better than they expected. Sad thing about Condren, is he never really played poorly for the Colts -- was real good in pre-season games (even had 2 picks in one game). Yet, my guess is his career is nowover, at what like 26 years old?</div>

<div>In another thread I mentioned Jerry Angelo liked drafting white DB's, only to see Lovie cleanse them in Chicago. I always thought Colts pres. Bill Polian (who built the 1990's Bills and expansion Panthers) was always fair to white players. He and Colts old/school veteran scout Dom Anile (sp?)always brought plenty of white picks and they did stick during the Mora Sr. era....</div>
<div></div>
<div>After Mora left, it seemed like the white draft picks would stick on offense (thanks to the power of OC Tom Moore and Peyton Manning lobbying for them?), but the defenders always were clensed fairly quickly by Dungy and DC Ron Meeks, who was always openlybitter about never getting a head coaching job.....They always did the same with the flood of white safeties-- kept them for a short while as backups, even if they played fairly well, until they disappered intonowherelike Condren has...Names like Dave Gibson, Rich Coady, Brian Legieb, Jason Doering, Matt Giordano, Condren, ect.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Think about this. Giordano, is a guy they traded up for to grab in the early middle rounds due to his excellent size and speed and he did well. He made some game winning/clinching picks (i.e. @ New Orleans). Had the game saving PD in the Super Bowl (Chicago), yet he was never able to beat a D-AA guy like Bethea who was much slower than him and drafted a few rounds after.....Condren was a fairly high pick and his spot was taken by UFA's Melvin Bullitt, who starts, and Jamie Silva, who ran like 4.9/40 in college.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Sometimes I wonder if real "athletic" and fast white DB's and WR's aren't cut in favor of Silva typesonpurpose....Message is almost likethis: Special teams mascots and small, slower 5th WR's are okay, but if you have the size and speed we crave, no thanks
