Reggie Hayward done in Jacksonville Posted on: July 7, 2010 4:46 pm The only significant name included in the batch of six players cut today by the Jacksonville Jaguars is defensive end Reggie Hayward. The 31-year-old missed all of last season with a broken shin. Thanks to injuries, Hayward's five-year stint in Jacksonville was somewhat disappointing. Hayward left the Broncos and signed a hefty long-term contract with the Jaguars in 2005. He recorded 8.5 sacks that first year, but then tore his Achilles in Week 1 of 2006. He never fully regained his quickness and burst after that, failing to record more than 4.5 sacks in a single season. After no success on the free agent market this past spring, Hayward re-signed with the Jags in a low-paying one-year contract. At this point, it looks like his career is over. --Andy Benoit
Since football is a violent sport, I've always felt that it makes "no sense" to exclude
thousands upon thousands of able-bodied White men. Does anyone else think this is really odd?...

<div>Hayward always had horrendous tackling numbers. He had 3 seasons of decent sack totals from '03 to '05; this was enough, after the '04 season, for him to be given a huge contract by Blacksonville. His last four seasons he had a total of 39 tackles -- combined. Another black "star" that a team threw a ridiculous amount of money away on based on hype and "potential."</div>

<div>In other team news, WR Chris McGaha didn't even make it to training camp as he was cut yesterday. He should have been a second day draft choice in April but ended up as a free agent and treated worse than a junkyard dog by the NFL. He may kick around on the fringes of several more teams over the next couple of years, but he's a 10,000 to 1 shot now of ever getting a genuine opportunity.</div>
