I'll be very surprised if John Fox is coaching Carolina in 2010. The Panthers have become non-descript, after being one of the whitest teams for several seasons in Fox's earlier years. They've always been an up and down team, but since Fox went caste it's been mostly downers. Edited by: Don Wassall

Yeah, Fox needs to go. Besides Kahlil and Gross, he starts three of the fattest and and out of shape linemen of any team not name Philadelphia. Except I've heard if Fox leaves, the Panthers will go calling Cowturd up.

Well, the promotion of undrafted white wide receivers continues, as the Panthers activate Charly Martin, though only because Jordan Gross was put on IR. Unfortunatly its not a case where a WR was cut, so the question is will this be just a one week or a few week promotion, as was the case with Hass, Standeford and now Bergeron. Regardless, congrats to Charly and good luck to another unheralded white athlete.

Yet another star NFL afflete with no apparent impulse control:

Panthers MLB Jon Beason was arrested Monday afternoon on an aggravated assault charge.

<DIV =s_pNewsTextMain>Beason was booked at 1:36PM. The charges reportedly stem from an incident that took place after the Panthers' Week 10 game against the Falcons. It's unclear if there's been a warrant out for Beason's arrest all along. Beason is alleged to have punched a man outside of a strip club. He's since been released from jail, but could face some punishment from the league.

Who says the justice system works slowly? It seems to be faster than ever when it comes to dismissing charges against affletes. Beason was just charged the other day:

Aggravated assault charges against Panthers MLB Jon Beason were dismissed in a Mecklenburg County courtroom Friday. Beason was accused of hitting a man and fracturing bones in his face during a strip-club confrontation in November. He was charged with a misdemeanor, but was never even arrested due to a lack of evidence. Beason is fifth in the league in tackles with 102, and also has two sacks and three interceptions.

I see that Beason hangs out at the same kind of places as all of the other thug affletes, strip clubs. What a shock.

From what I read they like to "make it rain" in these strip clubs. That means they like to throw money at the strippers. These king sized idiots never cease to amaze me.

"Superstar" Julius Peppers had zero tackles yesterday and has had seven games this season with two or fewer tackles. Yet he's still heralded as one of the great defensive ends in the league.

Matt Moore is yet another White quarterback who was expected to be lousy by the media and DWFs, yet he has led Carolina to back to back wins over the Vikings and Giants, throwing 6 TD passes and 0 picks in the process. For the season he has a 61.7 completion percentage and a 98.9 QB rating.

Injuries and age have slowed down Jake Delhomme, who was one of the best clutch quarterbacks in the league for a number of years. Would be nice if Moore can step in and be "the man" for the Panthers.

Bad news for Jake Delhomme.  http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-panthers-delhomme&prov=ap&type=lgnsSome good news in that Dan Connor will be in a fight for Diggs' starting job.

Tough break for Delhomme, but I am sure he will land somewhere. Veteran QB's who have had success as starters are always a solid commodity as backups/spot starters and there really was no upside to keeping him a Panther with his age and declining production. Matt Moore also really deserves a shot to prove he is the guy in Carolina without the ghost of Delhomme looking over his shoulder. Edited by: Bear Backer

Delhomme was another of those White QBs who was derided as lacking the proper "measurables," but he was among the best when it came to intangibles like heart, brains and desire. One of the more memorable clutch quarterbacks of the past 20 years. Would be nice to see Moore, another White QB of whom nothing is expected, turn out to be good.

Mostly I'm just posting this to help get this quietest of teamforums up to three digits in posts finally.

I would love to see him come back to his home town team, the Saints as a backup to Drew Brees. Brunell had a good career, but I am not sure he has much left in the tank or would be able to lead the Saints to a few wins if Brees went down for a few games.

If Brees goes down for a few games I think Delhomme can lead the team to wins. He never got a fair shot the last time he was here, but that was because Haslett was a racist. Aaron Brooks was injured and Jake came in and played much better, better than Brooks had been playing when he was healthy, then he decides hes going to play an injured Brooks over a healthy Delhomme!

Then Haslett gets rid of him the next year (because of fans screaming "WE WANT JAKE" during the games Brooks was playing horrible, espescially the one where he threw a backwards pass), and he takes the Panthers to the Superbowl.

JT O'Sullivan, Marc Bulger, Jake Delhomme, all backups to Brooks during the Haslett era, all are still in the league, Brooks is sitting at home waiting on a phone call. He says its because hes black, but if he had an ounce of talent a team would have him on their roster by now

I remember when Jake played at USL (now ULL). He played with Brandon Stokley for a little while, and you could tell he was something special, but the media has always portrayed him as nothing more than a mediocre game manager.

There seems to be quite a few good qbs from Louisiana, Bradshaw, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning. Bobby Hebert was better than given credit for, Mora's play calling was always too conservative and Hebert didn't get to throw the ball as much because of this. Hed get a 3 point lead in the first quarter and run the ball almost every down until the the end of the game, his "super affletic" dome patrol who were supposedly so great didn't have the stamina to play 4 quarters. He won a USFL championship and lost in the playoffs the next year to Steve Young's team, and took the Saints to their first playoff game. Favre is from MS but has a Cajun last name, so not sure about him.

Jake Delhomme not only won the NFL Europe championship splitting time with Kurt Warner (some weird thing where the qbs split time), the Panthers team he took the Superbowl was one season removed from a 1-15 season.

The purge of DT's from the Panthers might be a good sign for both Nick Hayden and Derek Landri. I hope Connor becomes a starter this year as well.

Connor is basically a Posluzny clone(pardon the caste speak). We have seen Paul turn into a great linebacker and Connor can do the same.

Yep, i don't understand why the Panthersdon't moveConnor to one of the starting OLB spots as Jon Beason is one of the best MLBs in the league. Like every elite White Penn State linebacker, Connor is a tackling machine whose best years are being wasted right now. I don't know why Carolinadrafted him only to use him as a special teamer when he is obviously starting material. Edited by: Don Wassall

Brad Hoover was released by the Panthers

Wow, here's an interesting one. Looks like you can add Brad Hoover's name to the Purge in Pantherland.

Hoover
Hoover
At least according to safety Chris Harris, Hoover has been added to the list of cuts that started with Jake Delhomme and a bunch of other older guys last week. This one's a bit surprising because Hoover still was playing at a high level and there's no real heir apparent, unless you think Tony Fiammetta is a sure thing.

Personally, this one's kind of sad. I was covering the Panthers on a daily basis back when Hoover first made the team as an undrafted free agent. The guy carved out a very nice career for himself and did it with class.

As we reported at the end of the season, Hoover won the inaugural Tom Berry Good Guy Award, for being the Panther who was most helpful to the media doing its job. I recently nominated Hoover for the Pro Football Writers of America Good Guy Award, which will go to one player from all around the league."

Tony Fiammetta? is it just me or does there seem to be a decrease in White fullbacks?

Another huge bust of the black persuasion in a league with no shortage of them and who pretty much gets a pass from the media and DWFs is Dwayne Jarrett. Got all kinds of favorable publicity coming out of USC and was taken in the 2nd round in '07 despite being slow. He's had every opportunity to win the starting job opposite Steve Smith yet has managed all of 33 career receptions and 388 total yards in three seasons.

So will the Panthers admit their mistake and part ways with Jarrett?Apparently not. Being black, he is gifted with deep reservoirs of untapped athletic potential that may takeupwards of a decadeto surface:

Beat writer Steve Reed expects Dwayne Jarrett to keep his roster spot in 2010 "unless he completely bombs out in training camp." Jarrett is due a guaranteed $530,000 this year as a second payment on his rookie signing bonus. Jarrett did post a 5/68/1 line in Week 17, leaving faint hope that he can at least show enough to suit up on game days in 2010. He's an extreme longshot for fantasy value.

from rotoworld:

Dan Connor has been working "exclusively" as the second-team middle linebacker behind Jon Beason this spring.

Apparently, he's not going to be given a chance to compete for the starting strong side job after all. James Anderson has been running as the starting SAM backer, though he's not as strong against the run as Connor. "I'm not really in charge," said a frustrated Connor. "I just kind of go with it."
