I would love to see him come back to his home town team, the Saints as a backup to Drew Brees. Brunell had a good career, but I am not sure he has much left in the tank or would be able to lead the Saints to a few wins if Brees went down for a few games.
If Brees goes down for a few games I think Delhomme can lead the team to wins. He never got a fair shot the last time he was here, but that was because Haslett was a racist. Aaron Brooks was injured and Jake came in and played much better, better than Brooks had been playing when he was healthy, then he decides hes going to play an injured Brooks over a healthy Delhomme!
Then Haslett gets rid of him the next year (because of fans screaming "WE WANT JAKE" during the games Brooks was playing horrible, espescially the one where he threw a backwards pass), and he takes the Panthers to the Superbowl.
JT O'Sullivan, Marc Bulger, Jake Delhomme, all backups to Brooks during the Haslett era, all are still in the league, Brooks is sitting at home waiting on a phone call. He says its because hes black, but if he had an ounce of talent a team would have him on their roster by now
I remember when Jake played at USL (now ULL). He played with Brandon Stokley for a little while, and you could tell he was something special, but the media has always portrayed him as nothing more than a mediocre game manager.
There seems to be quite a few good qbs from Louisiana, Bradshaw, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning. Bobby Hebert was better than given credit for, Mora's play calling was always too conservative and Hebert didn't get to throw the ball as much because of this. Hed get a 3 point lead in the first quarter and run the ball almost every down until the the end of the game, his "super affletic" dome patrol who were supposedly so great didn't have the stamina to play 4 quarters. He won a USFL championship and lost in the playoffs the next year to Steve Young's team, and took the Saints to their first playoff game. Favre is from MS but has a Cajun last name, so not sure about him.
Jake Delhomme not only won the NFL Europe championship splitting time with Kurt Warner (some weird thing where the qbs split time), the Panthers team he took the Superbowl was one season removed from a 1-15 season.
