From Rotoworld: According to the Buffalo News, Brian Brohm is the likely starting quarterback for the Bills this week. Ryan Fitzpatrick had crutches in his locker Monday after injuring his ankle against the Pats. With the season lost, the Bills will turn to the former Packers second-rounder. Though Brohm was an unmitigated disaster in Green Bay, the Bills are hoping his poor performance was merely confidence related. We're betting against a turnaround in Buffalo. Keep Lee Evans and Terrell Owens benched and consider the Falcons fantasy defense a nice flier this week.
Interesting that a guy who didn't even throw a pass in a game was an "unmitigated disaster." I wonder if a highly touted black QB would be so easily dismissed.
I'm hoping Brohm becomes the Bills starting quarterback. I've never understood how he went from being considered the first overall pick of the draft before his senior season to dropping to the second round and then supposedly looking so bad in Green Bay. He's intelligent, his father is a football coach, he ran a pro style offense at Louisville and he was groomed from a young age to be an NFL QB. Something doesn't add up, and Buffalo would seem to be a good team forBrohm to get an opportunity.

Don, I could not agree more with what you just said. Another great find and great analysis.
I watched a couple of Brohmn's college games and rememeber thinking that he would be a great quarterback in the NFL. I'm kind of excited to see him finally getting his chance. If I remeber right he has some athleticism as well.

Don's correct, Brohm only played during the pre-season for the Packers. Even then, former LSU QB Matt Flynn was #2 behind Aaron Rodgers.

Rumors resurface linking Cowher to the Bills

At a time when the official word regarding Bill Cowher in the Bills is that the former Steelers coach has said "thanks" and "no thanks" to the opportunity to take the reins of a team that has struggled at best for more than a decade, a report has emerged indicating that Cowher and the Bills are talking.
Per Sal Capaccio of Buffalo Sports Daily and SalSports.com (he's the guy who broke the news of T.O. to Buffalo in March), Cowher is "impressed and interested" in the team, and he has not closed the door on becoming the team's head coach in 2010.

I myself was surprised that Brohm didn't hang around in Green Bay. He didn't play that poorly in 2 preseason for the Packers and never saw a single snap during his 2 seasons with the Packers. I figured it came down to the team drafting Brohm before they realized they had a stud in Rogers and then felt that Flynn was a guy who knew the system and was good enough to be the backup and could be a long term solution for less money. Kind of like what you have had in Indianapolis over the years with Manning and his various backups. In my view, it speaks more highly of Rogers and how the Packers were able to identify what talent they had in him than it is says anything negative about Brohm. The guy obviously has talent and potential or otherwise he wouldn't have once even been considered one of the best QB prospects in the nation. It is not like he gets the benefit of being over evaluated because of his black skin either, in a league desirous to see more black QB's.
We are getting to the point now where all this stuff is becoming ridiculous. So now Brohm was a total failure before he ever even stepped foot on the field in the eyes of some of these talking head idiots? Sheer genius. I just hope whoever takes over in Buffalo will seriously evaluate him and give him a legitimate shot to prove himself.

majored in government studies at Virginia, and spent the 2008 offseason
interning at Kemp Partners in Washington
DC with former and late Bills quarterback and congressman Jack Kemp.
"My passion for education, country and community is something that I
am ready to devote my full attention to," he said in a statement
released by the team. "I believe the best way to pursue these spheres of
interest is to step away from the game of football at this point in my
life."
Butler started all but two of the 33 career games he
played in after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2006 draft. He
was limited to just two games in 2009 after sustaining a serious knee
injury in Week 2 against Tampa Bay.

But he's now in a pretty good spot in Buffalo.

Mort previously hinted on ESPN that the new Bills regime is ready to wash its hands of Trent Edwards. Brohm threw for just 146 yards and two picks on 29 pass attempts in his lone start last season. Im hoping Brohm gets a chance to start in Buffalo. Im a huge Trent Edwards fan and think he still have a chance to be very good just not in Buffalo. I am hoping he is released and another team picks him up that has a weak QB situation.

Analysis: A 2009 preseason star, Stupar's steady performances have carried over to the summer of 2010. "He's a good route runner," said coach Chan Gailey. "He's an intelligent player. He fights every snap. He's more than an adequate blocker." Nelson continues to disappoint. Gailey's history of heavy tight end usage could help Stupar flirt with TE2 value if he keeps the job all season"
