2008 Vanderbilt Commodores

Johnson realizes the obvious, too late.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)â€â€￾Bobby Johnson wants to wring more production out of Vanderbilt's offense, so he is switching quarterbacks following the 22nd-ranked Commodores' first loss of the season.

Mackenzi Adams, who came off the bench and rallied Vandy to a win over Auburn on Oct. 4, will start Saturday at No. 10 Georgia unless something unusual happens. But Johnson said Adams will get most of the work in practice this week instead of Chris Nickson and hopefully give a fresh start to the offense.

"Mackenzi has demonstrated he can sit in the pocket and figure things out and see who's open and do a good job of hitting them*," Johnson said Monday.

*Yeah, that's called 'being a quarterback', dumbass.

Riddlewire is spot on.

Adams didn't get in the game until Vandy's second possession of the 4th Quarter.

but then he promptly led them down the field for a touchdown drive. funny how that works.

furthermore, Jared Hawkins only had 6 carries in the game. 6!

(compare that to nickson's 12. ha!) how are you supposed to win a game when your best running back doesn't touch the ball?

coach Johnson certainly screwed the pooch during this game.

As I wrote in a previous post, Vanderbilt has had years when they started well, but around mid-season, lost to a team they should beat. Then, the season would go straight downhill. Will this happen again in 2008?

Today, Vanderbilt lost to Duke 10-7 on their home field. After starting 5-0, Vanderbilt is now 5-3. I have seen Vandy follow this pattern many times.

Affirmative action, aka, institutionalized racism because whites are evil, hurts white athletes more than white students at the top academic universities. Since URMs have easier admission standards and lower expectations place upon them, they don't face the same academic pressures. Universities desperate for diversity will take black athletes over white athletes to satisfy black quarterbacks.
I think Asian athletes are hurt the most by this. Although some Asians have proven to be very good athletes, there are very few of them in major college athletics. Since they're high achieving as a classified group, the colleges try to limit their number and this is why you see very few Asian American college athletes.
How black is Northwestern's team? Let me check.

Nickson started for an injured Adams yesterday. Jared Hawkins had a good game, going over 100 yards in all-purpose yardage and getting a rushing TD to help Vandy get to their 6th win of the season and make them bowl eligible for the first time in 26 years!

Here's to hoping that Mackenzi Adams can come back in and make an impact in the last games of the season.

It took them a while to get win No. 6

Yeah sport, they lost 4 straight and it looked like they might end up like they have a few times since '82, with 5 wins. I do hope they beat Tennessee and Wake Forest, or at least one of the two.

Back in the early 1980's, Vandy started off 4-0 and they were reserving New Orleans hotel rooms for New Years. They finished 5-6.

This year Vanderbilt had their best team in a quarter of a century. Tennessee had lost 7 games, one more would be the most in the school's history.

So what happened? Tennessee wins 20-10 on Vandy's home field. This loss ruins Vanderbilt's season in the eyes of the Vandy fans.

I agree with you sport, it was sad to see Vandy get beat by Tennessee. It has to be a very bittersweet season. Maybe they will somehow get their act straight and upset Wake Forest this weekend.

As I predicted might happen, Vanderbilt flopped to 6-6 after a 5-0 start. Yesterday they lost to Wake Forest 23-10. "Miserable," according to the Nashville Tennessean.

I haven't checked much of the bowl speculation yet, but is Vandy still being considered for a bowl?

Today, Vanderbilt scraped by Boston College 16-14 in the Music City Bowl. Their only previous bowl win was in 1955 over Auburn in the Gator Bowl.

A decent win for Vandy, considering their record and BCs record. Still, no Hawkins and no Adams left me with a sour taste.

Too bad Cris Crane was hurt. BC would have killed Vandy in my opinnion!

Is it time to make new team pages? Or just to change the titles of all these '2008' threads...
In any case, Vanderbilt has improved their team profile by 1, adding white receiver/defensive back/return specialist/athlete Collin Ashley out of Texas. Ashley was going to walkon at Arkansas, but Vanderbilt has offered him a scholarship. Ashley runs a 4.4 and a 10.7.

Good info Riddlewire! About the threads, I usually start doing team previews for the upcoming season in June. This way, we have a new place to post new team info each year. I doubt I'll be able to do as many previews this year as in the last 4 years, so some other CFers will need to step up to the plate. An easy way for anyone to help out is to pick a conference and preview all those teams.

I'll be able to do the Big 12, as the 'Huskers are there, as well as some "white friendly teams, compared to the SEC anyways. After the Big 12, maybe one more conference for me. I am really busy right now. By June though, I'll have some more free time.
