A strong piece of evidence supporting the existence of a racial Caste System in the NFL is how little the racial composition of individual teams and the league as a whole changes over time. For instance, the Eagles roster has pretty much turned over since 2002, yet every year the team starts 3 or 4 white players out of 22, and has 13 or 14 white players on the 53 man roster. For it to remain so stable defys the odds of probability along with common sense. If football was truly a color blind sport, there would be fluctuations, both short and long term.

Instead, virtually nothing changes; positions that become all black remain all black in perpetuity; positions that become mostly black never see even a temporary influx of white talent despite the tens of millions of whites who play football. And the one position that remains mostly white, quarterback, remains that way in spite of tremendous, non-stop efforts to change it. If similar efforts were made to ensure that capable whites play running back, wide receiver, and defense, one would see an NFL that is genuinely integrated, not one that remains an increasingly laughable and grotesque affirmative action project.

The Iggles have three white starters, with a fourth one, WR Kevin Curtis, out for a few weeks recovering from a sports hernia-related operation. Andy Reid and the Caste crowd in Philly must be given credit for signing Curtis away from St. Louis, where he was consigned seemingly for his entire career behind Isaac Bruce despite being younger, faster and more dynamic. Curtis was installed as the starter last year and put up the best numbers by an Eagles wide receiver not named Terrell Owens in a decade -- 77 receptions for 1,110 yards and 6 TDs. Despite being one of the top 15 receivers in the league, the refrain was made over and over by media pundits and fans alike that the Eagles had no "weapons" at wide receiver, ignoring the contrary evidence right in front of them because it came in the wrong wrapping.

With Curtis, out the only white starters on offense are RT Jon Runyan, a 13 year veteran out of Michigan; and LG Todd Herremans.

Rookie guard Mike McGlynn out of Pitt is the only white backup lineman.

Backup TE Brent Celek out of Cincinnati flashed a lot of receiving and run after the catch ability in limited playing time as a rookie last season. He may sooner or later be promoted over the consistently inconsistent L. J. Smith.

Veteran Matt Schobel is the team's third tight end.

Kevin Kolb was drafted in 2007 as Donovan McNabb's heir apparent, but when that may occur is unclear. The injury prone McNabb seems fully recovered from his torn ACL and has often been rumored to be on the trading bloc, but for now Kolb is firmly ensconced behind McNabb in the QB pecking order.

A. J. Feeley is back in Philadelphia as the third QB.

The bright spot on defense is Stewart Bradley, now the starting middle linebacker in his second season. The former Cornhusker looked sensational starting the last game of the '07 season and the first one in '08 and it looks like another white linebacking star has arrived.

Strong safety Sean Considine began last year as the starter but was eventually benched, due as much to the screaming and yelling of the drunk white fans as for insufficient play. White fans seem to have a particular hatred for any and all white safeties not named John Lynch. Black defensive backs are beaten all the time, sometimes horribly, but that is always credited to a great play by the black wide receiver or running back, or is simply instantly forgiven and forgotten. When a white defender is beaten, the fans howl for his head. In l7 games as a starter, Considine had well over 100 tackles, but all it took was a couple of missed tackles and a bad angle, and he was finished in the eyes of the fans. No learning curve is allowed, the white d-back must go!

Dan Klecko, who can play just about any position but who has never been allowed to start at any, is with the Eagles this season as a backup tackle.

Chris Gocong, who is of mixed racial background, is an outside linebacker who has been in and out of the starting lineup.

NUMBER OF WHITE STARTERS: 3 (4 when Kevin Curtis returns)

APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF WHITE PLAYERS ON 53 MAN ROSTER: 14

GRADE: F+

The Iggles have 3 whites on their practice squad.

That should count.....

I'm disgusted by this year's team more so than I have been in the past for some reason. My guess would be Coach Reid's consistent hoarding of black O-linemen. When Runyan most likely retires next season (his last contract year) Todd Herremans will be the only white starter on offense. Plus Curtis, assuming the fans and coaches "forgive" his injury and let him start again. He should lose his job when someone else has proven otherwise. One good game against a bad team does not suffice to replace a 1,000 yard receiver.

Fullback Tony Hunt was literally handed the job a week before the season started so they could retain him over 2 other white candidates who proved their worth.

Celek is the future at TE. As is Kolb at QB. My theory is, as soon as McNabb leaves, so does Reid. They're too dependent upon one another for their jobs in Philadelphia.

Defense is pretty bleak (black?) too. Considine is obviously starting-calibur, but only plays in nickel packages (which is generous considering the seemingly ubiquitous hatred for him in Philadelphia).

Klecko proved he could start, but only sees limited time.

Gocong is unique. He was given the starting spot after he lost his rookie season to an injury, an opportunity rarely given to nonblacks. He has been solid since. His not-completely-white ancestry probably helped.

Bradley earned the MLB spot in the latter half of last season, and fans and coachs seem (surprisingly) satisfied with his production.

*Sigh*

At least we've got NFL Sunday Ticket in the Student Rec. I can catch some Chargers games. Sorry if it seemed like I rehashed anything, Don. I just wanted to clarify some stuff, and I feel very strongly for my team. I sort of had to vent.

Also, I don't know what to classify Gocong as. Both of his parent's surnames are Kennedy, and they're from California. Who knows?

I think Gocong is part Polynesian (Hawaiian?) if I am not mistaken. He may be 3/4 white. I consider an athlete that is 3/4 white and not black a white athlete. Although "dark" Polynesians are favored by the caste system too, so I may not consider them anti-caste players even if only a quarter.

Yeah, but when I said "dark" Polynesians I meant Tongans and Samoans, not Hawaiians. Gocong to me is pretty white (I think 3/4) and an anti-caste player to root for.

But seriously, 90% of Eagles fans are just drunken buffoons. Most of them are trying to hard to be "crazy" Philadelphia fans and bad things inevitably happen. They know next to nothing about the game and cheer for their "athletes" week in and week out.Edited by: PhillyBirds

DT Dan Klecko has been moved back to fullback after witnessing the train wreck that was Tony Hunt. According to the Eagles site, he'll still be playing defense too, another testament to white endurance and a throwback to the good old days of two-way players. Maybe Chuck Bednarik is happy now!

Yet another update!

The Eagles signed FB Kyle Eckel today, in order to allow Klecko to resume his duties as a DT. Klecko's been successful this year, with 2 sacks.

I'm excited to see Eckel, even though Klecko will supposedly start on Sunday to allow Kyle enough time to digest the playbook.

Reid will occasionally throw a pass to the FB, and we all know Kyle is a serviceable runner.

Brent Celek had 131 yards receiving last week when he replaced L. J. Smith as the starter when Smith was out with a concussion. Smith has 106 yards for the season. Celek has better hands than Smith, is a better runner after the catch, and though I'm not sure I'd wager he's a better blocker too. But Smith remains the starter in Andy Reid's caste utopia.

Two sumo linemen, Andrews and Giles are both injured and there is a chance that white lineman McGlynn will start at Guard but another sumo Cole has a chance at the job as well. Imagine if Celek, Kolb, Eckel and McGlynn were all playing, why it would be like the Bronco's.

It's gonna be Nick Cole. He filled in for Jean-Gilles after he went down. McGlynn backs up Todd Herremans at the other guard spot.

The Celek situation irks me. He put up one of the most tremendous receiving performances from a TE in team history, and proceeded to start the next week. Then he was benched again after "missing some blocks." If anyone has ever seen LJ Smith play, they would know that a paper bag with an angry face drawn on it would be a more capable blocker than he. LJ is one of those older guys that Reid can't let go of yet. See: Greg Lewis.

All I'm hoping for Kyle Eckel is that he gets a larger role in the offense. Looking on the message boards, it appears as if the fans want him as a short-yardage, change of pace runner. Eckel has the "fan favorite" tag, as he was born in South Philadelphia and grew up there. He received a particularly rousing cheer after converting a 3rd and 1 on his first carry as an Eagle.

One can only hope!Edited by: PhillyBirds

I guess its a case of two sumos down and one to go for McGlynn to start. At least the Eagles did call up a white lineman from their practice squad.

The Eagles have signed WR Danny Amendola to their practice squad. There was much recent speculation that he would reach some sort of contract agreement with Philadelphia.

As witnessed with Mike Gasperson this offseason, the Eagles are unlikely to keep two white WRs on the roster. Curtis will stay, but it'll definitely be an uphill battle for Amendola. Best of luck to him.

At least he isn't in Dallas.Edited by: PhillyBirds

It is shame that the Eagles lost. I think they are a well blended team. Kevin Curtis and Brent Celek are studs. I actually like McNabb. Is this wrong? Here is my reasoning. He seems like a class guy. I belive he is married and stays out of the bling bling image. I would rather have him then some other ones, I.E. Raiders, Vikings, or Michael Vick.

Am i wrong?

Root for who you want wave, just don't expect to find a lot of McNabb sympathizers on this board. Both he and the caste clowns in the media try to say he is as good as Brady and Manning but gets no 'respeck,' when is really no where near their level. McNabb has complained openly about the 'discrimination' faced by black quarterbacks, and even upbraided TO for daring to criticize him because he is black, and they should stick together.

I like donovan too, and i agree that he is not an elite QB (the only elite qb now in my opinion is Tom Brady & Peyton Manning). He feels like a black matt hasselback to me. Theyre both solid franchise qb's, but the only ppl who will remember them when theyre gone are their own fans(or whenever black qb's are discussed).

Good to know. No, he isn't an elite quarterback. Warner outshined him and I agree with the other post saying Brady and Manning. I might even throw Denver's QB and Big Ben.

I did not know about black QB comments.

Offensive tackle Jon Runyan underwent microfracture knee surgery and will require 4-6 months of rehabilitation. Runyan is also eligible for free agency.

I hope he rehabs in time to come back and doesn't retire! One of the league's last great old-school warriors, Runyan is always a blast to watch. He's one of the few modern players who I think would have been tough enough to play in the old days of the NFL.

good news about Curtis, worried about if their will be a way for Amendola to see the field with Curtis, Jackson and Maclin, unless he is used as a returner. There are plenty of other teams that could actually use him, but I guess he is the wrong color.

and for the earlier poster about Brady and Manning the only elite qbs. Id put Drew Brees in that category. He has an overrated oline, he has one of the quickest releases I have ever seen, makes his reads very quickly (he kind of has to with his line, Jammal Brown is very overrated) He has been the triggerman for the number 1 offenses in 2008 and 2006. He almost broke Dan Marino's passing yard record but came 15 yards short. He is the only quarterback to throw for over 5,000 yards without one single 1,000 yard receiver (probably only one for over 4,000 yards too) and has no consistent rushing attack. If the DE's could get the same amount of pressure as they did in 06 and the secondary was improved the Saints would have a shot to go all the way.
