Yeah, he's back in and still being booed by the drunk white fans even as Oakland leads 6-0.

In the face of this idiocy sometimes our cause seems hopeless.

They're saying Curtis tied the NFL record for yards receiving in a first half. The record was set by Lee Evans last year in a game against Houston.

Cutler is outplaying Gerrard but the Jags are ahead. If the trend continues, they'll make it seem like Gerrard beat Cutler.

Harrington is tearing it up. Two TD's, no INT's.

announcers are praising Raiders John Madsen's athleticism and the ability to stretch the field.

I don't watch TV, but I see short pieces of highlights of each game on NFL.com. From the little I can see, the tackling is pretty sorry. Is that a fair assessment of the tackling throughout the league?

yeah it seems to get worse and worse, i'd say proportionally with the decrease of white players on the defense.
more and more athletes choose to go for a big hit instead of a proper wrap up tackle.
lots of people are surprised by Barrett Ruud's success in Tampa, i'm not - his tackling technique is sound and he doesn't go for a pop, he goes for a stop...

I think I'm gonna be sick. I check SI profile for Ernest Wilford. He ran a 4.77. Funny thing is the profile states he has potential to be a number 1 receiver. Oh well.

Bernard Berrian just dropped a perfect pass that he had in his hands... but of course they don't need Mike Hass, since he hasn't been active yet this season.

or, they should play Adam Archuleta on offense, he seems to have best hands on the team and he sure showed them on his interception catch

Adam Archuleta just returned a blocked kick for 48 yards, too bad he didn't go all the way.Edited by: backrow

backrow,

you mentioned the Bernard Berrian drop that would have been a CERTAIN touchdown where he was WIDE open. it cost the Bears points, because the Cowboys defense held.
smiley36.gif

the same thing happened just moments before, as well. Patrick Crayton was WIDE OPEN in the endzone, and Romo's pass hit him in the chest and he flat dropped it. the Cowboys got ZERO points because of that drop, as the Bears blocked the short field goal attempt.
smiley36.gif

yep. these guys are the best players available. uh huh. sure.
smiley5.gif

as an aside, did anyone see Cowboys' offensive tackle Pat McQuistan chase down Adam Archuleta and prevent his blocked field goal return for a touchdown? wow! that big dude can run!

McQuistan is an offensive tackle. can you believe that?!?! i'm guessing someone forgot to tell him that he wasn't supposed to be fast.
smiley36.gif

also, the announcers during the Rams' game mentioned that Drew Bennett is playing at about 80%. he has a severely strained quad muscle, and can't run anywhere near full speed. they were talking about how fast he normally is, which is a surprise. they also gave him credit when Bulger threw the interception in the endzone, saying that Bennett could easily have out-leaped the defensive back if Marc had put the ball where he should have.

what a pathetic "tackle" attempt by Cowboys safety Roy Williams. *smirks* some hit, big shot.
smiley36.gif

his not wrapping up cost his team about 30 yards on that play, and two plays later the Bears scored.

pathetic effort and complete lack of discipline and tackling technique.

also, nice catch and run by Bears tight end Greg Olsen. a 21-yard catch and scamper that he almost got into the endzone on.

edited to add: also, that was a gutsy scramble by Grossman. diving head first for the first down was the key play on that scoring drive.

yeah, especially after Madden was stressing how Grossman never moves in the pocket

here's Adam Archuleta:

damn, i jinxed him and he missed a tackle that would have saved the touchdown

Bears are missing a lot of tackles tonight, i have never seen Urlacher miss 2 tackles in one game.Edited by: backrow

WOW I don't know what to say after that drubbing. The Bears look bad all around. Rex is done, you can tell from looking at him that his confidence is shot. Whatever chance he ever had of succeeding in the windy city seems done. Write another name on the wall of failed QB's for the Bears. Rex has played horrible and rightfully deserves any criticism he gets, but he had plenty of help. The media has messed with his head since 05. All he heard was he can't stay healthy, then they expected him to step on the field and perform like a pro bowler in his first season. Donovan McNabb needs to get real, he doesn't even know what pressure is. I don't think there is a QB alive who could survive Chicago maelstrom at this point. Maybe Kyle Orton might if he drinks himself into a stupor. Berrian has looked like he has taken a step backwards in o7, Moose is done,Benson can't run or block and meanwhile Hass can't get on the field and Ball rots on the practics squad. (Correction Ball has been officially cut)

The most shocking part is how bad the Bears defense looked. This is a unit that is used to spending the majority of the time on the field, but the injuries keep piling up and they also look like their spirits are crushed. They are all missing tackles and look like they have played through a grueling 16 game season. Yet amazingly Bears fans still continue to try to make Rex the fall guy on offense and Adam Archuleta the scapegoat on defense.

Heard a report this morning that the Bears D was completely exhausted in the 2nd half. Doesn't surprise me a bit. Nobody can tell me these guys are in good condition (not just the Bears, all of the teams).

to be honest i was annoyed with Adam too. he could have prevented two TDs, but failed to wrap Barber up. he was visibly shaken up on that big block he got from Hurd. he will be allright in the next game, i just hope they don't pull him out.

Urlacher missed 2 or 3 tackles, he was definitely not himself last night, but i expect him to come around strong next week.

Hillenmeyer was their best player on defense and surest tackler last night, but even h failed to stop big Jason Witten on one tackle, was dragged around for 5 yards before he wrapped him up.

all in all Rex has a big part of the blame for forcing a ball in frustration several times (when he threw to washed up Moose who was covered by 3 Cowboys...) and never letting his defense catch a breath.

from ESPN, they are already crucifying Archuleta... no mention of the fact that his "whiffed tackle" came right after Manning's sorry attempt at stoping Barber... and Witten wasn't always covered by Archuleta, it was mostly nickelback or Hillenmeyer covering him.

"Tight end Jason Witten, who schooled overmatched Chicago strong safety Adam Archuleta, one of the league's most overrated players, had six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. Reserve tailback Marion Barber rushed for 102 yards on 15 carries and scored once on the ground and once on a 10-yard reception in which Archuleta whiffed on a goal-line tackle."Edited by: backrow

It's time for Grossman to sit. Only Jackson has worse numbers at quarterback.

That's funny. How many players have been ripped on as much as Archuleta over the past year?

Funny how Marion Barber is described as a 'reserve' tailback as well, like he is a scrub or something, thereby making Archuleta's 'whiff' even more despicable.

Archuleta isnt the same since his back problem..He was really a great tackler, but now, we all know he is not the better in coverage, if he lost his talent to tackle and punish, that not good..
I do think that he has the talent to be a starter, but, he his not better than Roy Williams in my book..I would take Condren, Dahl, Weddle, Pittscelli, Wendling, Russell, Lynch, Stcheigert, Leonhard befonre Archuleta..That sad because he was my favorite safety when he was playing with the Rams..

lumsden, no offense, but have you even seen Condren or Dahl play? Adam is still league's premier safety, he excels in the box but he did have a bad day yesterday. he is not a coverage guy, he's a hitter. one bad game doesn't make him a scrub in my book, although he needs to pick up his play level.
