    2009 Iowa Hawkeyes

Great day for the Hawkeyes today. Brandon Wegher led the team in rushing with 101 YDS and 1 TD on 15 attempts and Trey Stross led in receiving with 4 for 69. Iowa State's two black QBs combined to throw 5 interceptions. Iowa SS Tyler Sash had 3 INTs, 2 TFL, 1 FF, and a team-leading 9 tackles!

    2009 New York Jets

It only takes one to get injured. I think every team in the league tries to carry 3 RBs on their gameday roster.

    White WRs/TEs 2009

What a spectacular way to open the college football season! Absolutely dominating performances by White, Cooper, Decker, Shipley, Meier, Gerhart, and Sharp with some good stuff by Burkhead mixed in. Combined with the BYU victory, I'm very excited about this season.

UFC 102 : Couture vs. Nog

I was bummed about the Maia fight too, Liverlips. I was hoping to see how his BJJ looked against a strong and competent fighter like Marquardt. It was the fight on the card I was most looking forward to. Oh well, he will rebound I'm sure. Better to see him pasted by Nate than Anderson Silva. Oh...

    Pat Buchanan's latest

I like Pat Buchanan and I do think his argument about WWII has some validity but one passage from that article really struck me: "But if Hitler was out to conquer the worldâ€"Britain, Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, South America, India, Asia...

UFC 102 : Couture vs. Nog

Jardine looked pretty fast and sharp last night until he got tagged. Too bad, like Forrest, his chin will keep his ceiling at 205 pretty low. I thought the Ed Herman-Aaron Simpson fight was awesome. Herman showed off a great chin and a lot of heart. Either way, I think his knee injury ensures we...

    Geography Quiz

That was challenging, especially when the words start covering up the countries. I got a 150, but I'm a bit of a geography nerd. Based on my observations, I think the average American score would be no more than a 50. Maybe I'm pessimistic though.

    Brian Leonard 23

I don't suppose one of you guys could give a more in-depth summary of the Hard Knocks stuff that featured Leonard for us poor bastards that don't have HBO. I'm very curious how he's portrayed and how he's treated by teammates and coaches.

    Inglorious Jew Basterds

Back on topic for the movie though, apparently you can't please everyone. The NY times movie review complained that the movie's lead character (a Nazi) is too slick and likable, thus polluting the film. Tarantino apparently treats the Jewish experience too casually and doesn't expend enough...

    Inglorious Jew Basterds

Germany bombed the hell out of: Guernica during Spanish Civil War in 1937 Warsaw during the invasion in 1939 Rotterdam, NL in May 1940. This precedes the German stray bombs over London, the British retaliatory bombing campaign against Berlin, and the full-force German Blitz of London and...

    Anyone do BJJ?

Three classes and hooked huh? I know the feeling. I've done BJJ for about a year and a half now. I trained at a couple places in Phx, one large, one small and am now searching for one in my new home in Texas. My advice is to stay humble and not take setbacks too hard. You'll have moments...

    Sam McGuffie

Everything I've read suggests that A&M plans to make Swope a WR. Competition with Sam shouldn't be a problem.

    Site Speed

Same as above, usually runs just fine. I'd say about 15% of the time it runs exceedingly slow even though my connection is running great for other sites.

    Sam McGuffie

I thought you raised some interesting points, Osgood Fan. You are right, the Big 10 generally features bigger backs (Shonn Greene, Beanie Wells, PJ Hill). Though I'd be curious to see how you respond to SteveB's last point: that Rich Rod's Michigan and Meyer's Florida run a very similar offense...

    What is your ethnic background?

A whole bunch of stuff. Czech is the largest at 25%. Then German, Belgian, and pretty much everything else in Western Europe.

    Best football Names?

Jacksonville had a crappy LB named TJ Slaughter. Colt McCoy is almost too perfect for a Texas QB though.

    White defensive backs 08-09

Wow. Good find on Paul Rice, JC. He had 4 INTs this year in just 9 games. He's also part of the #3 pass defense in the FCS which gave up just 6 TDs this season. He's a good sleeper for next year. Edited by: jared

    Peyton Hillis

Watching Hillis (and rookie LB Spencer Larsen) play the last few weeks has renewed my interest in the football season. The fact he's been starting on my fantasy team for the last 3 weeks has only made it sweeter. He really looked great against the Jets. I'm crossing my fingers that this Hillis...

I couldn't watch the Michigan game. Was it another fumble-rific display of ineptitude?

    White defensive backs 08-09

Texas has a true freshman starting safety this year in Blake Gideon. He doesn't have any big time stats yet but he has the all the confidence of defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, as Gideon is frequently tasked with lining the defense up correctly.

    2008 Minnesota Golden Gophers

Minnesota took down the Illini today, making them 6 and 1 on the season (they only won 1 game last year). Willie VandeSteeg was harassing QB Juice Newton all day. He finished the game with 5 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 pass deflection. Also, Eric decker finished with 9 REC for...

    White defensive backs 08-09

I mentioned him in the Minnesota thread, but sophomore safety Kyle Theret has been playing very well for the resurgent Gophers and was key in their defeat of Illinois today. He's been starting since his freshman year when he played both safety and corner. Right now, his stats are 39 tackles...

ESPN article on the dearth of white backs

Well, once again, another writer fails to expand in any meaningful way from the Orlando Sentinel articles 4 years ago. Entine is still quoted as though he's some sort of man of science (which he's not) and expert in ANY field other than media BS. Entine also authored a book called Abraham's...
