Sam is the only bright spot for Michigan right now, and I don't just mean that in a Caste sense either. You know, I don't think StinkRod will ever learn that he can't trust Minor with the football.

I'm glad Sam is doing well though. He is no doubt opening some eyes over there.

McGuffie is UM's guy. Here's what Fred Jackson had to say about him after the game:

GI, the article you presented on McGuffie was interesting. Maybe I was wrong about him being overly cocky or maybe he just grew up a lot in the last year.

He may have just liked doing his Youtube jokes (like the one where he slaps his friends arm when he puts his arm around his girlfriend) or his flips because he is born to be a performer. He seems to have shyed out somewhat at Michigan, which is a good thing b/c you don't want the guy to get too full of himself which can lead to trouble and too much partying.

On a message board a Michigan student had commented he was at a campus party where McGuffie showed up and everyone flooded around him asking for autographs and girls trying to dance with him. McGuffie decided to leave pretty soon according to the poster because he seemed to feel too over flooded from the attention. He had almost zero personal space!

I may be wrong in my previous comment about him being a cocky, jerky personality.

Fred Jackson is a great RB/ assistant head coach and I am glad he continues to be supportive of McGuffie. Let's hope that Michigan turns into a more white friendly school. Jackson seems like a reasonable guy and may recommend even recruting a white WR or two (he's Michigan's main recruting force) because of the way whites are performing recently at WR when we have finally gotten the chance.

Michigan has also gotten a verbal from DE Craig Roh. I honestly think things are looking up a little bit. Remember, change usually happens slowly so let's keep our heads up!

I haven't been able to find the article in the newspaper yet, however, Sam MUST have raped the coaches daughter, or robbed a coffee shop near campus. What else could explain not playing him at running back. I'm of course being factitious, but damn this is disgusting making the most athletic player stand on the sidelines while they let Minor run the ball. If I were McGuffie I would think about transferring to a school that will play me. He got lied to by the recruiters. We all know Sam will not get ball time in the NFL (if he even makes a team) and this is his last big shot at the next level. It's B.S. that he is not getting the valuable experience and grooming to be the number one back at Michigan.

Sam not playing has to be the number one WTF moment of the football season. He was praised by the media as the only bright spot in a misereable season for the U of M and yet he's the one that is benched? Friggin' crazy. Now that Brandon Minor has played well I'm sure he will get the start next week.


Sam ran into the IRON RULE of white running backs. White guys can't run the football unless three things happen. 1. There are no established black RB's on the team, 2. They produce well EVERY game, 3. The team keeps winning. Since Michigan is having a historically bad year then the focus must be on the one thing that is different!


At least Sam not playing gives me a reason not to watch or attend any more gamesthis year. Anyone notice the darkening trend in the Big Ten this year? Penn State looked mighty black to me, far more then in the past. They and OSU are led by black QB's and Ron Zook has turned Illinois into Florida U North. Very disturbing trend. I guess years of being considered the "white" conference and the conferences recent poor performances outside the conference has led the coaches to try and be more like the SEC.

Well, that was nice while it lasted!! Dick Rod should be asked by the media, how in the hell to you bench your best offensive player this year for an upproven back up who could not even beat out a 6th round pick with no speed (mike hart). Granted, he is bigger and more powerfull than Mcguffie (he is also 3 years older) but Mcguffie is faster, quicker, and has better receiving skills that Minor. I think Dick Rod the coward probably had a munity brewing with all of the "athlete's" on the team complaining about all the PT that McGuffie was getting. I would really be surprised if McGuffie gets another start this year unless Minor plays terrible, fumbles, or gets hurt. All Minor has to do, is just play decent, and McGuffie will NOT see much carries at all this year. What a joke.

The Michigan AD came out earlier this week to announce his support for Rodriguez. This was only 6 games into his first season. So, they obviously had a meeting about the state of the program. Then, amazingly, McGuffie is on the bench. Rodriguez is already under pressure to keep his job and the pressure of starting a white tailback at Michigan was too much for him to bear. So McGuffie only got 4 garbage time carries. They are already rebuilding so of course you would want to develop your dynamic, freshman running back.

Yeah? When was Minor the "starter:" the 30 seconds between Mike Hart's last carry for Michigan and the end of their last game? Hart was the starter last year and this year it was open competition especially for Minor who was a FULLBACK, but apparently not a white one which would have excluded him from ever being the primary runner.

Well, the more I think of it, this could just me a case of, "well the season is lost, so lets get all the junior's and senior's some playing time". McGuffie did get a bunch of starts, and was very impressive when he played, AS A TRUE FRESHMAN! So maybe they are just throwing Minor a bone, and, truth be told, he was impressive against Penn State. My only concern is that McGuffie gets 5-8 real carries a game the rest of the season, not just garbage time carries. If he does, due to the fact that Minor is a Junior and McGuffie a freshman, I can somewhat understand Rodriguez's thinking. Add to this his new kickoff return duties, and he will touch the ball about 8-10 times a game, which for any freshman, let alone a WHITE FRESHMAN TAILBACK, is plesantly suprising. Thats very positive thinking psychosid. When the season started, I expected Sam to get around 1/3 to 1/4 of the carries and not be the feature back until his junior year. I think most on this board will also admit that they didn't expect for Sam to be getting 20+ carries a game his freshman year. However, Sam got the opportunity, made great stuff out of it, and now we are all spoiled if he doesn't get 95% of RB duties in the game. Obviously Rodriguez and the RB coach like Sam a lot, and im sure 8-10 touches will be the minimum he gets a game. I think Rich Rod was planning on getting McGuffie in the game more often, but with the red hot way Minor came out running, it would have been hard to justify taking him out (potentially in the 3rd quarter they could have made a change when things were starting to slip away and they could have used a change). So it is my belief that Sam will get 50% of the starts, and depending on how well him or Minor play, 50%+ of the carries. Lets not jump to conclusions too quickly. Everyone wanted to be the 1st one to say that Jake Sharp's career was over, but look now, and the situation there is very bright.

You'd think when a teams leading rusher gets injured they would provide plenty of details about it. The non-interest in his injury continued in the local press. It wasn't until I got the Ann Arbor News that they mentioned he had taken a hard hit to the head and didn't return. His status for next week is not known. I guess the status of a white running back is of no interest to the fans.

Well maybe some good can come from this. IF Guff comes in now in a duel threat backfield or as the backup, maybe he can get his YPC up because they will be more surprised when he gets the ball. Defenses don't seem too afraid of Steven Threet and the o-line is porous.

Minor has done no better as the starter. He had a good first half against Penn State and then stunk in the second half and stunk against MSU except for one 20 yard run. I think Sam is still a big part of Michigan's plans as long as Jackson is there and he continues to play solid for a bad team. I will be very mad though if Sam doesn't get "at least" a third of the carries next game! If he doesn't this will show RR's true colors for his future use of Sam.

Ann Arbor News reports that McGuffie suffered a mild concussion and was kept out of the game for safety reasons. He may or not be ready to play this week. However Rodriguez said it was a chance for some others to play like Micheal Shaw. With Minor getting almost all of the carries and 100% of the local media coverage as the RB I'm sure Sam will not play this week and probably not see much action for the rest of the year. Odd treatment for the teams leading rusher.

Michigan players sidelined with concussions

ANN ARBOR â€â€￾ The injuries are piling up for Michigan and will shorten Saturday's roster for the game at Purdue.

Tailback Sam McGuffie and safety Mike Williams, who both suffered concussions in the loss to Michigan State on Saturday, will likely not be cleared to play on Saturday.

"A concussion is a concussion. There are various kinds of them. I'm not a doctor, but the trainers and the doctors look at them, see the symptoms and go accordingly," Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez said prior to Wednesday's practice.

Tailback Carlos Brown (foot), who has missed four straight games may be a couple weeks away from returning, according Rodriguez.

Unfortunately for us Castefootballers Junior Brandon Minor ran for 6.2 YPC in the game and probably has the starting job wrapped up for the rest of the year.

Oh well, maybe at least Sam can get his YPC up from being used more creativily as a backup and adapting to the college game more as he matures.
