It sure was that way in Detroit. In 1960-61, the Lion QB job bounced between Earl Morrall and Jim Ninowski. During 1962-64, it was Morrall and Milt Plum. Between 1965-67, Plum and Karl Sweetan. From 1968-75, Greg Landry and Bill Munson.

In a way, it will be easier for Tebow to become the starter after the Broncos lose several games. There is less pressure on a young QB this way than if he starts the season as number one.

Report makes case for paying players!

Which is why college athletes putting themselves on the open market will make things even worse than they are now. How would the smaller colleges and conferences survive?

Report makes case for paying players!

Male athletes getting more money than females will result in endless court challenges.

Report makes case for paying players!

How long would it take for some judge to rule that you have to pay female athletes (who don't generate any money) the same amount you do an All-American passing QB? Not long.

    NFL week 1

Last night Romo was certainly, to use an old-school term, "prone to the big error."

    NFL week 1

I just saw a comment at the Pro Football Research Assoc. Forum where somebody wrote that the Colts should sign David Garrard "as soon as possible."

    Channing Fugate

When this was shown on his Sunday morning TV show, Tennessee coach Derek Dooley remarked "this is how Channing gained those 3000 yards in high school." Another time Dooley speculated that "maybe we should put Channing in back," meaning at tailback.

will a bunch of white boys go beat up on an SEC team?

Georgia and Ole Miss were all-white until 1972 along with LSU. Those three were the last SEC teams to integrate. This Saturday's games are certainly ironic to a long-time SEC fan.

    White Purge 2011

You don't have a conspiracy when the people in charge agree on everything and don't have to hide their actions. Is somebody telling these coaches to do something they don't want to do?

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Good points. Lemaitre has done better than would have been expected a few years ago, even if this is as good as he will ever be.

    Hall of Fame snubs

Jack Butler and **** Stanfel, two players from the 1950's, will be on the HOF ballot next January as Seniors nominees. Ken Anderson did not make the cut. Jerry Kramer was again on the list but was rejected.

    2011 Miami Hurricanes

I remember the Miami teams of the 1960's. They were all-white until about 1968 and were largely made up of white players from the midwest and northeast. George Mira received a lot of national publicity as Miami's QB from 1961-63. He was from Key West, Florida.

On the last Sunday of every Presidential election year, the Democratic candidate goes to black churches in several locations such as Los Angeles and Chicago. The MSM never objects. If a Republican shows up in churches, the cry "Church and State are supposed to be separate" goes up from the MSM.

    Tiger Woods

A year or so ago, I made a post that asked the question-What if Tiger Woods was white? How popular with the MSM and public would he have been? The answer was that a white Tiger Woods would have been famous and admired for his skill, but nothing like the actual Tiger. Picture how a white Woods...

    Hall of Fame snubs

I assume "Dante L." is Dante Lavelli, who played for the Browns from 1946-56 and you want me to compare him to Gary Collins, who played from 1962-71. They are similar players but Lavelli is in the HOF and Collins isn't. When you compare players from different eras, you have to rank a player...

    Hall of Fame snubs

Jerry Smith was a very fine player who falls short of HOF caliber. He was never considered the best in the league at his position, his team didn't win a Super Bowl, and you can write the history of the NFL without him. Some of his stats came as a WR. There is a big backlog of WRs from the 60s...

    Hall of Fame snubs

Jerry Kramer's absence from the HOF is a long-time controversy. Kramer was voted onto the 50th anniversary all-time NFL team announced in 1969. If he was one of the two best guards ever for the first 50 years, why isn't Jerry Kramer in the Hall? There are several reasons. Some voters think...

    Hall of Fame snubs

I have read that one criterea for admission to the HOF is whether there was a season in which a player was the best in the game at his position. Another is if the history of pro football could be written without mentioning his name. Ken Anderson has support at this time from the Cold Hard...

Bush sticking with the "didn't want to scare the kiddies" excuse for sitting on his ass with his eye

Do you think those who are members of this Forum (which I have been since its inception) believe everything they see on TV, or what the government says? Why should we take at face value what you say?
