Spain's Angel David Rodriguez just smoked a 6.60 60m. He's 28 and been running fast 60's for the past couple of years. Best 100 is 10.14, I think. All he needs is a little luck to go under 10 this year. Skinny guy. No chance of steroids, based on the pictures.

Mystery solved--I just checked another site (milesplit) with a slightly later photo and it turns out that Farmer went sprawling to the track just one or two steps from the finish. And he was slaughtering the Jamaican.

Now that's weird: I just saw the photos (on Dyestat) of the 300, and Patrick Farmer didn't finish last or 6 seconds back. In fact, he finished third, well ahead of the ballyhooed Jamaican John Thomas, and some other kid appears to be 6 seconds back. So evidently they mixed up Farmer's number...

Bolt and Powell are lucky. They are training in sunny Jamaica, where there is no need for indoors. They both are running 400's now, which is much better training than running 60's. Sooner or later other sprinters will wise up to that and head to warm climates in the winter to run long sprints...

Agreed on Farmer. That time was way off (six seconds back), suggesting an injury. But Gehret was on fire. That was the sixth fastest ever run by a high schooler. He signed with Penn State last week, by the way. PSU is putting together one heck of a team with Loxsom, Foster, Gehret.

It's not just Pickering's times that are off. Across the board, 60m times are way down from a year ago. It's very frustrating that this should happen precisely when LeMaitre seemed a lock to make the 10 second breakthrough, but they changed the false start rule this year. Now if a runner false...

Correction to my own post. Re: High school times, I forgot about some of the non-standard distances, so it isn't every distance above 200 (although it could be by the end of the season).
