    High School track meets

Here's a little something for those of you who appreciate track beyond just sprinting. The wunderkind, Lukas Verbizcas. We've mentioned him before. He's just a sophomore but he already holds national titles and records at the h.s. level--despite the fact he trains for triathlons rather than...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Oh, and the wind was totally legal. Practically none. Only 0.6 km/hr. That would be about 0.36m/hr. This guy is phenomenal. He doesn't need competition, a fast track, or anything. Just give him some spikes and watch him fly.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

10.03. So close. He just ran 10.03. That was in one of the two semifinal heats. I'm not sure if the finals are by best time (I think so), or if there will be a run off final later. Soooo close...

Wariner is back and may threaten 43.19!

Just watched the 400 of the Diamond League Shanghai. Wariner won comfortably over an extremely strong field. However, the time was poor for him (mid 45's). Of course, that means that all the other runners were even slower, so the announcers posited that it may have been wind-related. At any...

    the next Wariner? Pick one

The exploits of these two boys just go on and on. Patrick Farmer, running in his league championships, dropped down and tried the 100. The result: 10.67. Who knew he had that kind of speed in a short sprint? He also won the 400 in 48.89, although that wasn't one of his better times.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Agreed, Master. No need to disrespect anyone. As for the wind, though, that sounds like bad news. 10km to 20km/h is equivalent to 6-12 mph, which would be way over legal limit if it's a tailwind, and plenty enough to slow him down if it's a headwind. Hopefully, it will be less than forecast.

    the next Wariner? Pick one

An AMAZING set of performances by the indefatigable Gehret this week. In one day, he wins the long jump by two feet, run's the nation's best time in the 400 (lopping three seconds off the meet record!), and still has enough energy to win the 200 in a sparkling 200. He would have won the triple...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Sub, it's another "club" race, so it's too rinky-dink for start-lists. If you check the Youtubes of his recent races (posted above), you'll see that he's having to run entirely on his own at these meets, with no one there fast enough to push him to a better time. Still, every indication is that...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

C'mon, guys. This little digression isn't cool. Let's get back to LeMaitre. Lightning, is upcoming meet big enough to have some television coverage?

    2010 Outdoor track season

More news from the big Manchester event. UK champion Andy Turner (white) won both 110m and 200m hurdles in the space of just 40 minutes, and he did so over top competition, including Terrence Trammell. He may be emerging as someone to keep an eye on.

    Steroids and Black Athletes

That's right. Marion Jones passed hundreds of tests. The only real way we have of determining who's dirty or clean now is to look at their physiques. The eyes don't lie.

    Matt Bruno Wins the Dashes

Was this spam or something? That was about a high school race from eight years ago!! I think we here are all more concerned with what LeMaitre and co are doing in 2010 than getting an ad for some newspaper.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Here's a fun video. LeMaitre running the second leg of a 4 x 100 at one of these piddling local meets in France. Sort of reminds us of the difference between world class and club class. He gives his team such a huge lead that I could have run the anchor leg and still won...

Still no news at all on Ramil Guliyev?

    High School track meets

That's great news. He earned it. I just checked and it looks like they plan on keeping him as a sprinter. He might could still prosper at a bit more distance in my opinion, given that he only carries 140lbs. Of course, I know the rest of you guys are pretty focused on sprinting, but I'm...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

That's a great time into a wind like that. Someone had better start following him with a camera. If he ever gets a chance to run on a warm day without a headwind, that barrier is done.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I was just watching that video, in which LeMaitre makes a brief cameo at best, and it occurs to me that LeMaitre may very well crack 10 at some piddling local meet that isn't even filmed. He's so good that he doesn't need competition to spur him on. But the we'll be denied our chance of seeing...

    Craig Pickering

This is cool--Craig seems to have discovered our board and answered some of our questions on his training log. Well, if you see this Craig, good luck. I gather you're in Italy now (ah, to be young and fast and on the Mediterranean...). If you can maintain your focus with all those gorgeous...

Those times are phenomenal for a sophomore. Could he become the American LeMaitre? Definitely one to keep an eye on.

    Is Bolt on Drugs?

Jayo, I don't think LeMaitre is juicing, and I don't think I'm in denial either. If you read Radomski's book about supplying steroids to MLB players, he mentions that, even if he wasn't a guy's supplier, he could take one look and tell exactly what the guy was using--winstrol, deca...

    Is Bolt on Drugs?

You're proving my point for me. You posted the top finishers of an invitational meet (which means that only athletes that can meet a high standard are allowed in) and not one of them cracked 11 and only four runners even cracked 12. I don't know the meet, but typically you would have 30 or 40...

    Is Bolt on Drugs?

Okay, not to start an argument, but, seeing as it's been posted twice, I feel obligated to point out just how off-base the above statement is. Frankly, it's pure fantasy. People can make anonymous claims about their speed on message boards as much as they like, but, no, "most people" can't break...

    High School track meets

Sheesh! I hope someone offers him a scholarship! There's video online of him running an indoor 200 and an outdoor 400 (48.1), and he's phenomenal. Plus, no chance of peds--on his berecruited profile, it states he can only bench press 110. He looks like a junior high kid. The college that takes...

    2010 Outdoor track season

Correction--only Rupp trains with Salazar. Solinsky, who DEMOLISHED the old record, had never even run a 10k before.
