    Steroids and Black Athletes

Here we go again: Mike Rodgers caught for a stimulant. Probably out of the WCs. This must be one of the busts known for several days because the first articles to break the news already have his pre-prepared alibi. (I must admit that there are no human beings on earth more creative than...

    Steroids and Black Athletes

Guys, I hope these rumors end up being substantiated. I am LICKING MY CHOPS over seeing some of these cheating Jamaicans go down--and cheating Americans to, for that matter. Can you believe that the masking agent was lasix? That's what they give thoroughbred horses!

    Steroids and Black Athletes

Actually, I think a lot of you guys would be fascinated by this thread on Let's Run, so I'll just post the link: http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4178919

    Steroids and Black Athletes

What's more, a guy who claims some inside information posted all this on Let's Run last night (I just spotted it), naming Mullings before it was publicly released. What makes his post interesting is that he says they found him by testing for a "new testing agent" that could "potentially bust...

    Steroids and Black Athletes

Another nice thing about the Mullings affair: Mullings is best friends--going back for years--with Tyson Gay. They train together, too. For some inexplicable reason, I have seen fans, definitely on the Let's Run message boards but here, too, I believe, single out Gay (often along with Bolt)...

    Steroids and Black Athletes

Another Jamaican bites the dust (adding to the long list). I wonder if any of the naive types who come on here to declare how "clean" the Jamaicans/Bolt are will react to this. Anyway, no name yet, but the news has shown up in several articles, including: Yet Another Jamaican Caught for Juicing

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev 9.97 and 19.76 (World Champion 2017 over 200 meters)

Yeah, the wind was brutal in every race, but it is worth noting that most of the runners ran more than once, and in the 200 (also against a negative wind), Guliyev defeated Jamaican Lerone Clarke by a full half-second! The fact that everyone was doubling probably produced slower times, too...

Well, it's not like we didn't see this coming: Hunter Furr seeking transfer to school that will give him a chance

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

BK21--thanks for posting that, and good for Christophe!! I don't know about France, but here in the US, I get sick to death hearing about the endless and expensive programs to promote sports among one minority group and no other. No one in this country seems to care if rural and suburban kids...

    800 meters

Nice result today--Brit Jenny Meadows easily beat undefeated Kenia Sinclair in London. Meadows ran an outstanding 1:58.6. I'm not watching the meet, but I expect Universal to post the race later.

    Matt Weirich

Wow--that is a very unusual find. A very brief google turned up nada to answer those questions. If you have more time to dig, let us know what you find, as that is a ridiculous time for a 28-yr-old rookie running into a wind. I wonder how he even wangled an invite to the meet?

I've long said this fellow is the most obviously roided runner ever. Hilarious photo: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/extra/871174-london-2012-harry-aikines-aryeetey-slams-new-100m-olympic-rules

    2011 World Championships

Lately, Daegu previews have been rolling in, so I thought I'd start a thread. Here's an article from this morning, talking about a couple of the top Irish runners: http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/other-sport/busy-orourke-gets-ready-to-take-on-the-world-163155.html

    AAU Junior Olympics

I wouldn't worry about Hannah slowing down yet. However, as I've been able to read about more young runners (thanks to the Internet), I've noticed that it's very common for girls to peak in junior high or in their sophomore year. The really athletic ones are lean and mean at age fourteen, but...

    2011 Top 100m Sprinters

I haven't read anything new, but I presume it was Craig's back. Remember, that was really hurting. Didn't he recently say he had taken two epidurals this season? I can't even imagine that. It certainly sounds like the kind of thing you would do when the doctor says, "you need surgery, but it...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Yeah, awful curve. Watched the replay. He almost crossed the line into the lane outside his. He just can't control his centrifugal momentum yet. He needs to learn that. Finishing straight, though--INCREDIBLE. He makes everyone else look like they're walking. Well, this is about the same...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

20.08, and he looked PISSED when he saw his time. Poor curve based on the live shot.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

The wind was +3.5. I imagine CL didn't work very hard in the semis, though. Yesterday, he ran a much faster time in the finals than the semis. I'm hoping for the same today.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Yeah, I have to agree with you, Frederic; we never know when a new roider is going to pop out of the shadows and steal a medal. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that the testers are getting better. Meanwhile, here is an unusually detailed English article on Christophe: Another national...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

First off, I hope someone will post a link to today's racing, although I don't know if I'll be in to watch it live (like most people, I missed yesterday's). Secondly, I want to underscore the importance of the 200. A couple of weeks ago, after his 200 v. Bolt, I pointed out that the 200 was...

    2011 CF Heisman Watch List

Dan Persa was mentioned in an AP article today. He's list-worthy: At Northwestern, Dan Persa returns from a torn Achilles’ tendon to direct the Wildcats’ spread attack. Without all the fanfare Robinson received, Persa was one of the best quarterbacks in the country last season. He led the...
