    2012 Indoor Track Season

Michael LeBlanc finished first in the 60 at a rather low key event, the Columbia Last Chance (primarily to qualify for NCAAs). 6.61.

More Aussie outdoor season: Sally Pearson is stunning everyone right now. She's just in a class by herself: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/olympics/wires/03/03/2080.ap.ath.australia.olympic.trials.1st.ld.writethru.0616/...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

Jeremy Wariner just snuck into a low key Arkansas meet and ran a 20.93 200. The time is nothing special (he finished sixth), but hopefully there will be follow-up articles telling us about his fitness.

    nice video feature on Christophe.

    2012 Indoor Track Season

This isn't really indoors, but I didn't see an AUS thread for 2012. Anyway, big news, Ryan Gregson is FINALLY back in form. Gregson is young Aussie mid-distance guy who was running with the best in the world at the age of 20 or 21 (I forget) a couple of years ago. Since then, he's endured...

    Jamaican Sprinting.

It's awful to watch. I mean, you don't even want to look at the annual top lists for the sprints anymore. The only thing that can beat the Jamaicans is a drug test. Plain and simple. Right now, they're out there, taking more and getting away with more than anyone else. And I can't ever let...

    Alexander Pschera

I just looked him up. He was a youth runner at 400m for years, actually showed promise. But then glandular fever (which, if the translation is accurate, is the same thing that nearly ended Sebastian Coe's career) knocked him out of sports entirely, and he remained out for a few years. He...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

Okay, it looks like Sant v. Cunliffe ended in a draw. Both ran extremely fast 7.48's in the finals to finish, I think, 5/6 or 6/7 overall. Not shabby, given Cunliffe is a sophomore and Sant is a junior running against the fastest girls in the entire country. Tyler Smith, jr., took the scalp...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

In the 4 by 400, Arkansas sat Braddy and Skidmore and used scrubs instead, on account of the team having a huge lead in the overall standings.

    2012 Indoor Track Season

I had the time wrong on the Brooks--it's Pacific Time 3:30. Anyway, Marek Niit is now the SEC CHAMPION at the 200. And sophomore Neil Braddy finished second in the SEC championship 400. That's the SEC, gentleman. I don't have to tell you what that means.

    2012 Indoor Track Season

Hi, Jimmy, Here's the link to BROOKS INVITE, which is the big high school meet with Cunliffe/Van Sant and some good distance runners. It starts in about ten minutes (at 3:30), and I think the 60m will be very early, possibly the first event. Let me know how it goes. I probably won't be able...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

To get the discussion back to LeMaitre specifically, I think Christophe is simply a naturally lean sprinter, who flies along at the top end. I don't think he is a power sprinter, blasting his way down the track. If he adds bulk, he may add power at the start, but he'll lose his float at the end.

    2012 Indoor Track Season

I can't figure out what's going on with Loxsom and Gehret. They've either lost their enthusiasm or they are being trained to peak later in the year for the outdoor season. At either rate, they just stunk up the joint at the indoors and really neither has done anything all season so far. Just...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Yuck. He's not even coming close to improving his times from previous years. And he has, in fact, been lifting weights and has even talked about being stronger in interviews, so there's no need for everyone to insist that he needs to do more squats or whatever. Weight lifting and plyometrics...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

Yeah, I love the Arkansas 4 by 400 relay. I've been posting about them for two years now. Let's cross our fingers for another great run at the SECs this weekend. In the meanwhile, one great video deserves one (or two) other(s). At these college meets, the two most exciting races, with...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

I'm looking forward to that showdown. It's high time Galen FINALLY got over his mental hurdle and beat the old master, Lagat. It wouldn't quite be as sweet as LeMaitre beating Bolt (my number one track fantasy, although I'm not holding my breath), but it would be very sweet. C'mon, Galen!!

    2012 Indoor Track Season

Jelena Isinbajeva just set a new world record for the indoor pole vault today. She's back. Very few interesting runners at the event. Kszczot had a rare off day, finishing way down the line. I don't know why. The race wasn't that fast, given the names involved. Welshman Joe Thomas showed...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

Found a few videos. I'm not sure how fast Hannah Cunliffe can be in the future. She now has a body like a Victoria's Secret model. She's still fast, but sheesh. Here's the now voluptuous long-legged beauty humiliating her rivals in an early heat. But if this continues she'll be too curvy...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

The Simplot games--a huge high school indoor meet--were just held. Items of note: 1) Hannah Cunliffe (you guys keep asking about her) had the best preliminary time out of 103 athletes. However, in the finals she finished third. The winner was MaryBeth Sant, the blonde streak who has also...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

I just turned on the Big East championships for a peek and timed it perfectly. Chris Giestings, Notre Dame Freshman, finished second in the 500, which isn't a regular event. However, he ran a faster time than roided Olympic Gold medalist LaShawn Merritt ran over the same distance on the same...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Christophe said he was very disappointed, as he should be. It's a little scary to see him still running 6.69 and 6.59 now that it's not a rustbuster anymore. I, too, expected better times based simply on physical maturity and experience. His coach has said Christophe MUST get below 6.50, and...

    2012 Indoor Track Season

Thank you, WL. I'm glad someone finally noticed Kszczot besides me! Let me put Kszczot's mark in perspective--it was the THIRD FASTEST ALL TIME. So while we're at it, why not watch Kszcot the week before DESTROYING THE KENYANS in Dusseldorff? And then why not finish off your viewing with...
