    Future of Football

Yes, it was 1963-64 when pro football really started overtaking baseball. In 1963, when having a strong team in New York was all important, you had the New York Giants winning their last division title for a long time with Y.A. Tittle setting records. Jim Brown and Johnny Unitas had perhaps...

    Future of Football

In the 1950's, when Johnny Unitas came in the league, white pro football players were usually from working class backgrounds.

    Future of Football

On youtube there is a recent interview of Hall of Fame QB Fran Tarkenton by Bill O'Reilly, who asks Tarkenton if he would allow his son to play big-time football today. Tarkenton said "No, the game today is too rough."

Hitler and the invasion of Poland

Very well said. I have corresponded with a man born in Vienna in 1925. He experienced the Anschluss and two years in the German army (was a Panther tank crewman in Hungary 1944-45). He didn't find the Third Reich to be a paradise.

    Future of Football

You've mentioned this before. The white pro football player from a working class or poor background has almost disappeared. Al Davis used to like Northeastern "street kids" such as Fred Biletnikoff, Mike Siani, Phil Villapiano, Howie Long, etc.

    Christian Laettner 30 for 30!

Sailer just started another thread on the "20 Most Hated Duke Basketball Players." Posters from this Forum might want to contribute.

Sharper got a sweetheart deal. The "20-year" sentence will only be nine with each being concurrent, rather than consecutive. Also, he'll be in federal prison, probably medium-security, maybe lower.

    Arm Wrestling

Don, Do you remember the NFL Arm Wrestling contests of the 1970's? A white offensive lineman, Ed White, won the championship with no trouble. He'd regularly pin well known black linemen. I don't think any black lasted longer than five seconds against Ed White. They would be shown at halftime...

Hitler and the invasion of Poland

Mind boggling stupidity is the main trait of the Hitler Fan Club.

    Movie Reviews

About 8-9 years ago there was talk of a movie on the Zebra Murders based on a book co-authored by a black ex-SFPD chief named Earl Sanders and a Hollywood screenwriter named Ben Cohen. The proposed film would make two black detectives the heroes who solved the case while battling racism in the...

Hitler and the invasion of Poland

Thanks. You and I agree on this. Hitler considered people like the Klitschko brothers to be subhuman.

Hitler and the invasion of Poland

"Not one poster has mentioned the mass murderer Stalin in all this discussion. Indeed, 'Uncle Joe' had his own plan on conquering everything west of the Soviet Union." As in Stalin (and Hitler's) cynical treachery of the "Non-Aggression Pact" dividing Poland?

Hitler and the invasion of Poland

A very good history lesson. Nothing drives away people who want to support white athletes like Hitler worship and apologias for Nazi Germany. As you wrote, it didn't take a week for it to start again.

    Chris Borland Retires

There's an old theory that the NFL doesn't want highly intelligent players because they will ask "Why am I here?"

We Are Living In A Cartoon

I recall some years ago in a Tennessee town a K-9 animal took a bullet intended for a police officer and was given a similar funeral with a motorcade. The killer in this case was a black male.

    2014-2015 College Basketball Season

Columnist Rick Telander in his post Super Bowl piece wrote something like "Tom Brady is a guy easy to dislike with his good looks and super model wife." Telander also referred to his "small receivers or giant lug Rob Gronkowski." Tom Brady isn't hated as much as Laettner, he is admired for...

A Copycat League -- Except When It Comes to the Patriots

I think black columnist Jason Whitlock wondered a few years ago if NFL teams would "copycat" the formula used by the Patriots and Peyton Manning's Colts (who then used white pass receivers). Obviously not.

    Don Maynard

I saw Don Maynard play on TV many times. In the Jets' Super bowl year of 1968, Maynard was blowing by DBs with his speed at age 33.

    NFL Week 17

Elroy Hirsch had 1495 receiving yards in a 12 game season for 1951. Charely Hennigan of the Houston Oilers set a record which lasted a long time with 1746 yards in 1961. He also had 1546 in 1964, both in 14 game seasons. Lance Alworth's best year for San Diego was 1602 yards in 1965.

The Longest Game Ever Played 40th Anniversary on NFL Network

    NFL 2014 Week 16

    NFL 2014 Week 16

Why wasn't this season "rigged" for more black QBs in the playoffs? Seattle won last year's Super Bowl 43-8. How is that illegitimate? If the Super Bowl was fixed, why not make it a closer game? People turn off their TV when there is a blowout.
