    Hannah Cunliffe

I can't believe it's been this long since anyone bothered to update the Hannah Cunliffe thread. It's not like she's gotten any slower. Here's a video of her running a phenomenal 7.38. She finishes third, but it was a fast, fast race of all of the nation's best except national #1 Marybeth...

marybeth sant (you won't believe this)

Marybeth is just astonishingly fast. Here she is winning the first of the two finals at the prestigious Brooks meet last week. She's down from her blistering national best 7.30, but still too fast for these girls:

For those of you unfamiliar with Laura Roesler, you'd do well to hunt down the old thread associated with her. In the meanwhile, she's looking amazing and continues to prove that she can compete at any distance she wants at the college level (note that she has run individual races ranging from...

    2013 Indoor Track Season Results

Given that run, you'd think Cas would be the man to beat at the NCAA's. Then again, before placing any bets you should probably watch this not-too-shabby 800 by Elijah Greer in the conference championships.

    German Youth Sprinter Watch List

Brilliant start by Reuss. If he can improve his top end speed, he'll go sub-10.

    2013 Indoor Track Season Results

I wish every runner were clean, but that's simply not the case. Very close to 100% of sprinters are roided. LeMaitre, skinny fellow that he is, shows every sign of being clean. Tumi? Not so much. I still like Tumi and will pull for him, but only because I know he is running against all those...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I'm kind of with grey ghost on this. I'm sure that weights help a little, but I believe that steroids-induced muscle gains have created the illusion that weights are more important than they actually are. I mean this especially in regards to the upper body. Huge biceps do absolutely nothing...

Some other news: Patrick Feeney took the 400m crown in the Big East against some tough competition. Time was around 46.12. His teammate Chris Giesting ran a blistering 500. Actually I believe it was the fourth fastest time ever run at the infrequently contested distance. Nevertheless, he...

    German Youth Sprinter Watch List

Anyone have any results from Simon Schultz this year? I don't have the knack for finding German results.

marybeth sant (you won't believe this)

She has indeed signed with Oregon, where she will run side-by-side with Jenna Prandini in the sprints.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I just read the news I could find on LeMaitre. I'm sure a lot more info is available in France, but from what I've been able to find, here are the excuses/reasons for his poor season: 1) He has not been able to train well this winter. 2) He had a sprained ankle in November and didn't run at...

marybeth sant (you won't believe this)

Seeing as Hannah Cunliffe is a longtime favorite of this board (and, oh, by the way, Hannah has had a superb indoor season so far, regularly defeating the best collegians--although not Jenna Prandini), I thought I'd check to see how she did in the Simplot Games. It appears she didn't run, but...

    2013 Indoor Track Season Results

Those were some great performances, weren't they? I'd forgotten Sowinski was even in the race. It was billed as a match race between Nick Symmonds (not at top speed because of recent flu) and Duane Solomon. Sowinski was only added a couple of days ago after Borlee dropped out. He was...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Well, it's been a brutal season so far, and whereas I find myself nodding (as usual) at JackNYC's thoughts, cracking up at Elispeedster's sarcastic take (above), and even agreeing with much of what Raul wrote so vitriolically (he's right: Christophe isn't the only runner in the race who's sore...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

And we thought last year was bad. Lemaitre and Carraz are just floundering now. The list of mediocre no-name runners who smoked LeMaitre from both heats is frightening. I don't want to get into the same game as last year, where meet after meet CL put up dreadful embarrassing times and...

More fun: Mitchell Watt is so good that he took only ten steps in his run up to the long jump and still won yesterday. Article here. Also Nicholas Hough continues to improve as a young Australian hurdler/sprinter. Article here.

Fun stuff: A New Zealand field hockey player decided, as a lark, to race some sprints, and beat New Zealand's champions. She's sticking to field hockey (too bad). Article here.

    Mary Cain

I'm running out of superlatives for the young Miss Cain. Suffice it to say, she annihilated yet another record last night--in a time so brilliant that the pundits are already saying that it was the greatest high school distance run of all time, edging out the run she did three weeks ago (which...

    2013 Indoor Track Season Results

As of right now, the lead story on Flotrack is Patrick Feeney's blazing 400 from yesterday. He ran the second fastest in the NCAA this year, so not too shabby. Right behind him was his teammate Giesting, who had to run the entire race (with the extra turns of an indoor track) in lane two or...

    2013 Indoor Track Season Results

Okay, I wanted to have separate posts for the record setting performances of Cain and Loxsom (and Rupp's unbelievable near record). Now some other notable performances: 1. Hannah Cunliffe finished with the fastest time out of 55 collegiate runners in the preliminaries of the UW invite. I...

    2013 Indoor Track Season Results

First off, if you are a track fan at all run, don't walk, to the Galen Rupp and Mary Cain threads. Galen (unbelievably exciting video) dropped down from his usual 6 mile distance and shocked everyone by nearly breaking the record in the mile. Mary, just two weeks after her 3k high school...

    Mary Cain

Mary Cain, folks! Just two weeks ago she broke the high school 3000m record by a mind-boggling 15 seconds in a race being called the greatest ever by any US high school athlete at any distance. Then, just last night, she breaks ANOTHER record--crushing the high school mile mark. No one since...

    Galen Rupp--As Important as Lemaitre

For most track fans, there was only one performance yesterday: Galen Rupp's. Everyone is flabbergasted. The Olympic medalist dropped down to a shorter distance and in his first race of the season got close to national and world records, producing a time light years faster than anyone else's in...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I just found a French article about the race. It described LeMaitre as "poussif" (i.e. puffing, wheezing, winded) from the start. It's been that way all season. If he keeps regressing at this pace, he won't be able to walk to his mailbox without getting out of breath.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Some of you guys are putting lipstick on a pig here. LeMaitre had a HUGE tailwind yesterday. The conditions were fine enough for Blake to jog across the finish in a 9.7. The conditions were also fine enough for every name sprinter to easily dispatch LeMaitre. All through the indoor season...
