    2024 Indoor Season

A nice little video blurb about Kalen Walker.

    2024 Indoor Season

Now I see that Kalen Walker ran a 6.59 60m on Dec. 9th. Great time for so early in the season. We need to keep an eye on him.

    2024 Indoor Season

I believe so. We did follow Kalen Walker and Iowa teammate Austin Kresley last season. But to be honest, I had forgotten about him. So thanks for the reminder.

    2024 NFL Draft

I don't know if it's true, but Toby Gerhart fits that mold. He just ran over and through defenders his entire career at Stanford. I think he was the best white collegiate back I've seen in the past 40 years. But he was never given a real shot in the NFL.

    Will Shipley

He should have stayed in college to develop further. I don't see him getting anywhere in the NFL. He didn't perform that well this year - he even lost his position as a starter. If he gets drafted, he still won't see any playing time. He'll be another lost white running back.

    2024 Indoor Season

Starting off this thread for the New Year . . . the first result I have to note is Tiam Whelpton of New Zealand ran 6.66 60m in Spain. Actually that was on December 29th of 2023, but effectively it's a 2024 result. Anyway, a good time to open the season.

    2023 College Football Bowl Season

As mentioned above, something is definitely off with Will Shipley. He isn't nearly as good as he was last year. I suspect it is something with him, rather than his team/coach/play calling. Whatever it is, I hope he can fix it.

    2023 NFL Week 16

I was thinking the same thing all night!

    2023 NFL Week 16

Penalties, the O-line, bad luck, and average to poor play, all combined to bring down the 49ers tonight. Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson is a very good runner, but almost all his passes were quick, short ones. His down the field passing was not accurate. But the Ravens leverage his talents and make...

    Christian McCaffrey

George Kittle says that he think CMac should be the league's MVP. I would be happy if either he or Purdy win it. If Purdy wins it, then I hope CMac wins the rushing title. If CMac wins it, then I hope Purdy wins MVP of the Super Bowl...

    2023 NFL Week 15

Is it possible that Purdy loses some MVP votes to CMC, and CMC loses some votes to Purdy, and someone else slides by them both to win the MVP? I'm not quite sure how MVP voting works.

    2023 state HS football champions

Acalanes High School won the California state 3-AA football championship. Judging by the photos, the team is close to 100% white. The team they beat from LA, seems close to 100% black. https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/12/09/state-champs-acalanes-storms-back-to-beat-birmingham-for-3-aa-title/

Somebody we missed .... Gage Gose from Wyoming. He won the National U20 400m Hurdles, beating some collegians in the process. https://wyopreps.com/landers-gage-gose-wins-u20-national-title-in-the-400-hurdles/

    Lasse Viren

Very true about Jamaica. A country of 3 million people dominating the sport for years. But no one questions it. In fact, there aren't even any whispers about Jamaica. I tried to point this out once on the T&FN message board, but no one would even consider my argument.

    Lasse Viren

Another reason that there was so much suspicion around Viren, was the performance of other Finns at the Games. Pekka Vasala, another relatively unknown Finn, won the 1500m at the Munich Olympics, over much better known athletes like Kip Keino, Rod Dixon, Mike Boit, Brendan Foster. He had never...

    Lasse Viren

I've also followed T&F for a long time, and although I wasn't really interested in distance running, I do remember Lasse Viren's Olympic victories. I remember that both times, it was a surprise. He wasn't the favorite. The allegations of blood doping were very strong and persistent. In fact...

    2023 NFL Week 11

I didn't see the entire game, but Watson had 2 critical dropped passes towards the end of the game, either of which would have kept the Chiefs in the game. He was targeted 11 times and caught 5 balls, although again, I didn't see the entire game, so I don't know how many of those were drops. In...

    Forgotten White Athletes?

Speaking of Swedish high jumpers, there is another one that should be mentioned - Kajsa Bergqvist. She set a Women's Indoor WR in the high jump in 2006, of 2.08m. So, in the space of 20 years, the little country of Sweden had Patrik Sjoberg set an outdoor WR, Stefan Holm set a height...

    Forgotten White Athletes?

There was a 15 to 20 year period (late 80s to early 00s) when Sweden was very strong in T&F - Susanna and Jenny Kallur. Johan Wissman. Sjoberg and Holm. Carolina Kluft. Ann Louise Skoglund. Kajsa Bergquist. Emma Green. Sven Nylander. Mattias Sunneborn. Christian Olsson. Not nearly as strong...

    Forgotten White Athletes?

Speaking of Patrik Sjoberg, here is his WR high jump, 2.42m (7ft 11-1/4in) from 1987. He is still the European record holder and 3rd highest jumper ever. Apparently he was a pretty good triple jumper as well.

I'm really surprised by this choice. I would have thought that Oregon would have been the best school for her.

    Forgotten White Athletes?

The great Swedish high jumper Stefan Holm. His personal bests are 2.37m (7ft 9-1/4in) outdoors, and 2.40m (7ft 10-1/4in) indoors. He co-holds the world record for height differential, jumping 59cm (23 inches) above his own height. Check out this jump!!
