Christian McCaffrey

He currently is on pace for more than 1,100 yards both rushing and receiving. Very good chance he breaks Faulk’s RB receiving record.

Revisiting my predictions for his production this year:
Perhaps it is time to give our annual McCaffrey production predictions:

230 rushes for 1215 yards and 12 TD; 60 receptions for 580 yards and 3 TD.
he will likely end up with about 100 fewer rushing yards but 400-500 more receiving yards. Might post a couple more touchdowns.

All Time Receptions List:
88. LaDamian Tomlinson-624
90. Rob Gronkowski-621
91. Julian Edelman- 620
92. Danny Amendola-617
93. Jordy Nelson-613
94. Christian McCaffrey-610

Amazing that McCaffrey could pass the players above on the all-time receptions list this season!

CMC secured his 5th 1000 yard rushing season with 2 games to go.

On the receiving front, he's 151 yards short of 1000 yards, which seeing his use case recently may be a tall ask - but with Pearsall put maybe he will get the ball more through the air? Again, it would take at least 8 catches a game (coming off 6 catches game but only about 30 yards) and potentially breaking a long one or two. Maybe they will feed him as that record is very juicy but who knows.

He already has tied his career best receiving TD output with 7 and is currently 3rd in NFL in TDs scored (9-7) behind only Taylor (19) and Gibbs (17) and within reach with two high octane games.

Another fantastic season, especially with the team experiencing so many key injuries. He is really making the case for how valuable he is.

I would hope the team does what it can to put him in reach of a second 1000-1000 season as it is unlikely to be bested for decades.

The 49ers have 2 big games coming up at home to wrap up the #1 seed in the NFC. The top 3 teams are playing each other for that spot and it should make for a much easier road to the SB than having to go to Seattle or Chicago in January for a potential championship game. If Cmac gets his 1000 yards receiving in the course of those games, great. But that can’t be the goal for SF, they need to win both games however they can. When you have so many other receiving weapons on that team, it’s extra remarkable that Cmac is this close to 1000 yards in the first place.

On another note, this feels like the last hurrah for the Shanahan/Lynch, Cmac, Kittle, Juice, etc group we have been watching for several years. I was afraid the window had closed after the loss to KC two years ago, but they‘ve bounced back this year through some adversity and arguably have their last and best chance to win a Super Bowl since the AFC is wide open this year after the Chiefs dynasty ended. NE, BUF, DEN are all good teams, but I believe SF is better. Their offense closely resembles those great NE teams of the 2010s we enjoyed for many years.

Since they have a great young QB in Purdy, they can always rebuild and retool around him, but the offense would most likely be a typical caste outfit, along with their coal black defense and not much to root for. Enjoying this current group while we can.
