No doubt a documentary nobody asked for, and nobody will watch. Adam Schein had an interview segment with “Slash” that I listened to for 5 seconds. Enough to glean that somebody actually made a doc about this scrub? A below average receiver and a below average QB. He was bragging about catching 5 touchdown passes from the slot. But, even worse, 15 years ago my ex-wife had me watching some trash housewife reality show and kordell was a mean, jealous loser.HBO is currently showing a one hour documentary on Kordell Stewart. I haven't watched it and don't plan to. After living through the Great Seven Year Kordell Stewart Experiment, watching it would be like putting on a mask and keeping six feet distance from everyone and re-enacting all the other totalitarian absurdities inflicted during the plandemic. Some things are best left alone and not relived.
But the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette did carry an article about the show today and it's just what I expected. Poor Kordell could have been one of the greatest quarterbacks ever but was held back by "racism" and rumors about being homosexual (which were likely true).
It's utter and complete ********. Stewart was coddled by Bill Cowher to a sickening degree. The team never drafted any competition for Stewart and mostly kept journeymen behind him so as not to bruise his delicate feelings. He had some good games and lots of "splash plays" running, but mostly it was strikingly evident he was not up to the task of being a starting NFL quarterback. Terrible accuracy, unable to read defenses, etc., but the boy could run like a deer and that skill alone was why Cowher stuck with him for so long.
The beer being spilled on him from the stands is mentioned, with the addition from previous iterations of the story that the person who threw it called him a racial slur while doing so. First time I had heard that detail, which will now always be added as part of the story. Poor, poor, delicate Kordell.
Cliff Stoudt, Mark Malone, Tommy Maddox and four time Super Bowl winner Terry Bradshaw were all treated terribly by the Steelers DWFs. There indeed was a lot of dislike of Stewart (because he mostly stunk), but it was relegated to private conversations and internet postings as it would have been many many times worse had Stewart been White and had Cowher stubbornly continued to start him for seven agonizing years. A group of DWFs went to Tommy Maddox's house and pelted it with eggs and other debris after a Steelers playoff loss. Stoudt was pelted with snowballs when he returned to Pittsburgh as the QB of a USFL team, and a DWF once drove his car into Three Rivers Stadium and up and down ramps, causing property damage because he despised Mark Malone so much.
One of the commenters after the article mockingly wrote to wait a few years for the documentary about all the racism Mike Tomlin faced during his nearly two-decade run. I wrote this:
"What a load of liberal crap. Stewart was a below average quarterback who was babied to an extreme for many years by Bill Cowher. If you want to acknowledge "racism," just recall how truly vicious Steelers fans were toward Cliff Stout, Mark Malone, Tommy Maddox and even Terry Bradshaw. I feel badly for younger fans who might swallow this revisionist malarky as an accurate portrayal of the seven endless years Stewart was given to develop."
Every black failure, and they are legion, is sooner or later blamed on Whitey.
With Harvey being placed on the short-term injured reserve, joining reserve running back Tyler Badie, the Broncos are calling on practice squad running back Cody Schrader to be their RB3 on Sunday. The last time we saw Schrader, he carried the ball 13 times for 42 yards while having 6 receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos’ preseason finale. Now, the preseason star will get a chance in the regular season as the Broncos face the AFC West-leading Kansas City Chiefs.
Larison, 24, will serve as the third option in the running back room behind Rhamondre Stevenson and Corey Kiner after an illness thinned the depth chart.
Some positive news (13 Whites elevated or signed) in today's transaction notes: https://nfltraderumors.co/nfl-transactions-saturday-10-31-2/
Cody Schrader is finally being elevated from the practice squad by Broncos:
Patriots have elevated a 2nd White receiver from the practice squad. Team only had 3 healthy receivers (including Efton Chism) for the Dolphins. In addition, they have signed tailback Lan Larison to the 53 man roster. Lan still had 2 more practice squad elevations, so being signed to the 53 is a pleasant surprise.
Also, wide receiver Jack Bech of the Raiders is slated to return from injury.
