The CFL regular season kicks off this weekend. While far too dark, we do have some talents in the league. AJ Oulette put together an outstanding season, capped with a Grey Cup win, and looks to repeat his rushing dominance. Assuming he stays healthy, he will cross 1000 yards again.

Zander Horvath is someone to watch. He put up good stats in very limited opportunities. But he is clearly one of the most talented backs.

Horvath needs more carries, he is a game changer in the CFL. Nathan Rourke at QB is a good watch as well.

Quick look at some of the most notable CFL players at Caste Positions -- RB, WR and Defense. It's not pretty. Could be 3 legit White RB's, which is noteworthy? .... WR position is a bit down from recent years, as the CFL usually has a better stash of White WR's from the U.S. .... While the picture isn't really pretty, it's better than the current, bleak U.S spring league, which is basically all black and playing to mostly empty, significantly scaled-down (seating capacity), U.S. soccer stadiums.

British Columbia:
RB Zander Horvath ... Ex-Chargers FB
DL Levi Bell
DL Casey Sayles
LB Parker McKenna ... (Washington State) actual rookie/No NFL UDFA contract
DT T.J. Burke ... (Lehigh) actual rookie; great Pro Day/No NFL UDFA contract (practice squad)

Calgary:
None, Basically an black team (worse than the Packers?), except for roster rules:
  • Active Roster: Each active 44- to 45-man roster must include a minimum of 21 National (Canadian) players.
  • Starters: Teams are required to start at least 7 Canadian players on the field at all times during a game.
Edmonton:
WR Joeseph Robustelli ... Grandson of NFL Legend; Athletic Freak; Too Old for NFL? (<link)
LB Joel Dublanko ... Talented Canadian; Excelled with Cinncinati Bearcats
DB Ian Kennelly ... Ex-Detroit Lions UDFA (2025) (recently cut)

Hamilton:
DL Julian Howsare ... Longtime CFL vet; All-CFL caliber; Breifly NFL FB (Jets)
LB Braxton Hill

Montreal:

RB Travis Theis ... All-Purpose; Young CFL star; on NFL radar?
WR Tyler Snead ... CFL vet; All-CFL caliber

Ottawa:
WR Ayden Eberhardt
WR Cade McDonald
WR Sam Schnee
WR Andy Isabella ... Ex-NFL speedster (suspended list .. Pre-reporting Injury?)

Saskatchewan:
RB A.J. Ouellette ... Top RB in CFL
WR Matthew Sexton (practice squad)

Toronto:
DB Derek Slywka ... Rising CFL star; on NFL radar?
DB Owen Goss ... (Colgate, Arizona)
LB Isaac Darkangelo
WR Jake Herslow ... All-CFL caliber

Winnipeg:
DB Evan Holm (North Dakota) ... CFL vet; All-CFL caliber
DT Jake Cresna ... CFL vet; All-CFL caliber
WR Christian Fredericksen (practice squad)

CFL lost their top, young rising-star from 2025: Devin Veresuk, a native of Ontario, who jumped to the Colts this spring. As I noted in this early April CF post, I believe he made a mistake jumping to the NFL way too soon.

Should've gone the Alex Singleton route, who played three years up North and really created a great demand for himself. Veresuk only received a $10,000 signing bonus/$10,000 guarantee, despite working out with 6 NFL teams. Had he stayed a bit more, might've created a much greater buzz for his unique talents. NFL practice squads do pay much better than 18 game CFL seasons, in most cases. That said, in the bigger picture, he might've made a mistake, as the Colts, for example, handed a White undrafted rookie (Weeks) linebacker close to a $300,000 guarantee.

Nice summary @Truthteller

Not surprised to see such pathetic numbers in commie Canada. Have to imagine the CFL is much like the NFL in pushing the glob-homo racial Marxist agenda. Wouldn’t be surprised if they mandates a percentage of jeets at some point to be on a team.

Yes, Leo, as I noted, it is "better" than the current, crappy U.S. spring league. Probably similar to the NFL, when you remove the "National" players, who are mostly seldom used role players. Very few White stars (overall) in the CFL; compared to the NFL (which has a lot), however.

The jeets have not made an impact on the field, as I don't recognize any on current rosters. But mandates could be coming down the line.... they are much more prevalent in media and broadcasting circles (i.e. ESPN types) and on medical and training staffs. Whites still "appear" to make up the majority of "National" players (Canadians), but not by a significant amount. Black are much more likely to be "imports" (Americans).

What you do see, is a significant number of African/Haitian types on CFL rosters that are marked as "Nationals". They were brought into Canada by the millions over the years by the (((Usual suspects))) to replace White Canadians and turn it into a 3rd world dump. Most have Nigerian surnames and a lot where insignificant backups at U.S. colleges, but good enough to qualify as CFL "Nationals"

Also, quite a few mulatto's. I assume a fair percentage of these are sons of pride-less, negro CFL players that mixed with local white "womenz" back in the 1990's. Even the Vegas Golden Knights (NHL) have one these. NHL players Ryan Reaves (<link) and Darnell Nurse also fit this mold -- sons of race mixing American negro's that played in the CFL and stayed up North.

Here some notable Canadians that are league stars or potential league stars:

Meet the CFL's Greek version of Eric Weddle, who I assume will never even get an NFL tryout?

Here's the Canadian Jordy Nelson, who I also assume will never receive an NFL tryout?

Canadian Nationals that have any kind of success at U.S. colleges, are more likely to succeed, i.e. this ex-New Hampshire Wildcat.

Number 1 overall pick in the 2026 CFL Draft spent only one year in the U.S. as a backup guard at Purdue. So the CFL draft is not exactly brimming with superstars!

CFL teams are also required to carry "Global" players on their active rosters. Most Whites are punters (Australian, usually) and kickers. Here's a fascinating White DT from Belgium, who will likely never get an NFL sniff.

When Canada only had "native" Blacks the Canadian players were 99 percent White but that was more in my childhood and middle school years. Once Afro-Caribbean children of immigrants came of age it seemed the amount of White players seemed to dip and now with full blooded Africans and even more Afro-Caribbean players and a wave of Mulattos it seems like half the Canadians are Blacks or Mulatto players.

One thing about the draft going high in the draft doesn't mean you are the best Canadian player it means you are the most likely to play in the CFL. So the rare Canadian that gets drafted in the NFL will be a free agent or a late round flyer type.

PS back in the day truly elite Canadian talents like Russ Jackson tended to shun the NFL as the pay gap was minimal and many had jobs that were more important than the football job. These days it's the complete reverse.

Nice write up and info, W.I.R. Just went to CFL.ca and found this: Top 50 CFL players. Looks like the number of Whites is about 16, so not impressive at all. Hard to completely tell race, however, just looking at action photos.

You are correct, regarding the draft: Much of the draft selections revolve around sign-ability, which explains why a 1 year backup at Purdue would go #1 overall. I think a pair of fairly mediocre Canadian mulatto DL's went fairly high in the NFL Draft, so they are not on the CFL's radar -- at least until they bust in the NFL.

Best performance last night was smaller (5'7"), slot-receiver Tyler Snead: 9 catches, 163 yards, 1TD. Ex-East Carolina star briefly played with the Steelers (pre-season) in 2022 and recently turned 26 years old. At 26, he might get another shot in the NFL, but I would not expect it -- probably destined to be a CFL star for the balance of playing career?

His teammate, RB Travis Theis, has gotten a bit more NFL attention -- had a tryout with Vikings last winter, but did not sign. He had only 5 and 3 yard carries last night. Although, Montreal only ran the ball 10 times.

Calgary's opening night attendance doesn't seem that impressive, for a franchise that dates back to 1945. Looks like your typical Birmingham Stallions spring crowd in recent years. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that the Stamps seem to be an almost all black team in what is allegedly a very "conservative" part of Canada?

NHL announcer Butch Goring, who is about 77, talks longingly about his days as a CFL (Winnipeg) superfan back in his younger years -- latter 1950's and 1960's. My guess is the typical Canadian does not look as fondly at the current, almost all black and imported CFL as they did in era's gone by?
