Dean Connors, Lincon Pare, Alex Tecza and Eli Heidenreich (<stats link) are all very athletic, rock solid, NFL caliber running backs. All should have gone to higher level football schools. How did the University of Pittsburgh let both Tecza and Eli H. leave their back yard?
When was the last time Pitt was really relevant? Google search shows 1976 (Dorsett) or 1982 (Marino)? Perhaps they should bring in some Welder-hat wearing, "tough enough", "Lunch-pail" types? Certainly helped Indiana?
Not as sure about Cash Jones? He's an NFL talent, but his rushing numbers at Georgia his final two seasons were not good -- 27 carries for 42 yards. Granted they were limited chances and he was stellar as a sophomore running, but he was always much better as a receiver. Perhaps his ideal position is slot receiver and return specialist?
Great work by Leonardfan, finding Dean Connors' 40 time (4.43) at Pro Day. I haven't found anything at all regarding Houston's Pro Day. Below is an AI look at Dean:
Most White running backs do get a positive stereotype, in addition to being "heady" and having a great work ethic. Most are assumed to be excellent receivers out of the backfield. Some are; some are not. Carson Steele really struggled as a receiver in his limited chances in K.C. At this point, Carson is just a straight power running back, like a lot of blacks that are allowed to have long, successful NFL careers.
But Dean Connors was the "real deal", coming out the backfield as a receiver. Bit underutilized in 2025, but as good as any I've seen in recent years. Eli Heidenreich was just as good, perhaps better. And that's saying a lot! In a fair world, both would be drafted in the top 3 rounds, based on their almost McCaffrey-like receiving skills. Both did get a modicum of "love" from this fantasy site.
Lincon Pare, a former wrestling standout and U.S. national team level Rugby star (4:30 to 7:10 video), is as tough (Skattebo like) as they come and much faster and athletic than he's ever given credit for, which is par for the course for White running backs. Pare, I see, has visited the Minnesota Vikings, so that's at least some good news. He's another. How did he get away from Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech or even lower rung teams like Oklahoma State or Colorado?

I've read former Utah Utes star linebacker Lander Barton is, unfortunately, being projected as a tight end by some NFL teams. Barton is a player some believed could've been a high pick a few years ago. His brother, Cody, had a Pro Bowl caliber 2025 season with Tennessee, after being prematurely discarded by the Broncos.

Here's the best breakdown I could find for Texas Tech's Pro Day.
I doubt the graduating, White quarterback will get much attention -- perhaps the CFL? I heard Dan Jeremiah tell Pat McAfee he thinks Jacob Rodriquez has a better chance going round 1 than round 3 ... I've been reading Dallas really likes Safety Cole Wisniewski for several months. But it was bad enough he did not receive a Senior Bowl or Combine invite, now he did not run the 40 yard dash for whatever reason? Hopefully things work out, because he's a legit NFL talent -- Reed Blakenship type? But reading the "tea leaves" looks like he'll be lucky to be drafted in round 7, barring info we are not aware of.

Agreed. Appreciating the contributions to the draft thread during the pro day circuit. Going to try and get my finalized compilation of White prospects prepped in the next week or so. Draft is less than a month away.
Mendoza’s pro day is this week.
@Truthteller Lander Barton completely slipped my mind! He should be a 3rd/4th round plug and play starter. A solid all around LB with a knack for big plays. Curious to see what happens to Wisniewski.

Found Iowa Pro day stats for the three defensive linemen. Not great 40 times but otherwise solid workouts. A little surprised to see Graves run a 5.32 - he played faster than that. Hurkett not a great 40 but explosive which is what is needed for a pass rusher and Pace with a decent showing all around. All three can certainly play at the next level.

Nick Andersen's pro day info. Varies from what I read last week with him running in the 4.45 range. Explosive enough athlete though and uber-productive. His 10 yard split is exceptional, the notes indicated he only ran once and there was a hamstring issue.

NFL Network is currently showing the 1998 Thanksgiving game between the Vikings and Cowboys. Daniel Jeremiah's Top 50 was scrolling at the bottom of the screen periodically. Of Danny Boy's top 50 just 8 are overachievers; surprisingly three of them are OTs, which may be this year's "outlier" of the draft.
Of Jeremiah's other 42, fully 22 are clustered at just three defensive positions -- 7 at CB, 5 at DT and 10 at Edge, leaving just 28 for all the other positions on defense and offense. Only 5 DTs is a surprise given the usual turnstile of draftees at the position, but they've been replaced by the large number of Edge prospects. Danny Boy knows what side his bread is buttered on.
Just as with the absurdly high number of DTs and CBs who will go on to bust, so will most of the Edge players. The best pass rushers in the NFL for a while now have been dominated by the small number of Whites allowed to start. A few, like the Watt brothers and Bosa brothers, were hyped and drafted early though J. J. Watt should have gone in the first three picks, his brother also. But players like Trey Hendrickson and Andrew Van Ginkel had to serve ridiculously long racial apprenticeships before getting their chance.
BTW, the Vikings-Cowboys '98 Thanksgiving game is one of the most shown of the 1990s. Why? The Vikings led by QB Randall Cunningham were almost all black, and the Cowboys led by Troy Aikman were almost the same. I've always remembered that game because of the long TD pass from Aikman to Patrick Jeffers near the end of the first half, a beautiful read and throw by Troy while the 6' 3" Jeffers easily ran past the small Vikings' CB covering him and then gained even more ground after making the catch.
I knew that Jeffers had been screwed over by the Broncos back when Mike Shanahan used to keep several White WRs on the roster (Jeffers, Travis McGriff, Kevin Kasper) but would never play them except for Ed McCaffrey, but that play was a real eye opener. Jeffers was also screwed by the Cowboys even though Aikman liked to throw to him and praised his ability. It was only when he signed with Carolina and started the second half of the 1999 season that he showed his talent. The second half of that year Patrick Jeffers was the best receiver in the league, one of a number of White receivers who broke out in '99 only to be "put in their place" the next year.

Just want to thank everyone contributing to this thread! Don't want to name anyone, because I'm sure I'll miss someone. It doesn't go unnoticed. I really enjoy the NFL Draft thread. The same trends are present with the most prevalent being the push of White offensive linemen to the interior (with some bizarre fascination on strictly center). Bizarre how one year ago Mason Graham goes top 5 and the next year magically no White athlete is viewed as able to play the position at an even average level by the same "experts". The TE class is currently being hyped up by a couple of mediocre blacks that I believe will be drafted later than projected. Meanwhile the White TE class is fairly deep and in terms of skillset are better at playing the position instead of being glorified WRs. Solid QB class if you ask me, plenty of depth and talent that should see a displacement of existing mediocre QBs that take up roster spots.

Reviewing some RAS scores today. 6 of the top 20 RBs were White - Dean Connors, Noah Short, Sam Scott, Bryce Duke, Anderson Castle, Cash Jones.

Forgot about him! I remember he magically appeared this season out of nowhere with some big plays. There are certainly quite a few Whiteys this year at the position. Hopefully they get UDFA deals at worst. It also puts a huge dent in the black affecticism argument as the objective data proves otherwise.
That leads to the real question with the obvious answer - these White kids are displaying the athletic traits so why aren’t they getting the opportunity?

Also the CFL. It has been historically dark but AJO is a bonafide star, fresh off a title run. Zander Horvath was barely used but when he was he exploded. I bet we see more of him this next year.

Both those CFL backs should be rotational pieces in a NFL RB room.. Keep me posted on when those guys play! Will make an effort to watch CFL like never before!
