Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Darren Waller (hip) is doubtful for Week 1 against the Colts. Waller’s return to the league continues to go horribly. After missing nearly all of training camp to get into football shape, the veteran tight end has gone from being on track to return in Week 1 at the start of the week to being a DNP on both Wednesday and Thursday. McDaniel reports Waller suffered a setback ahead of Thursday’s practice, giving us little reason to believe he’ll be on the field on Friday. It wouldn’t be surprising if he is officially ruled out before the weekend, paving the way for Julian Hill to draw the start. It should go without saying, but there’s no reason to jam Hill into a fantasy lineup this week.

Agreed, just seems players are more fragile nowadays and this is with fewer big hits.
 
We had to suffer with Aunt Crissy and Tirico for the opener; it's just as bad for the Chiefs vs. Chargers with Rabbi Eisen on the mic. Kurt Warner is ok at least, a typical conservatard who will never dare say anything controversial.
 
Lol! The first pass attempt by the Chiefs and the LG Suamateia is pushed back right into Mahomes. You'll see a lot of this.
 
Herbert 8/11 for 123 and a TD in the first quarter. He also had a nice run come back due to holding.

He's about to turn 30. How many black QBs have continued to play well into their 30s? There's Warren Moon of course, but all these years later and all these black QBs later, the ones that start well seem to fall off a cliff pretty quickly. Russell Wilson faded in his early 30s. . . any others that played well after the age of 30? 30 is still fairly early in the prime of most White quarterbacks.

Herbert with a supremely clutch run for the third down conversion. To say that he's had a stellar night would be an understatement.
 
Great game for Herbert, nice games for McConkey, Karlaftis and Tranquill.

What I liked the most was seeing Kelce screaming on the field at one of Football Dad's inept long arm tackles after one of his repeated false starts, and then Tranquill giving it to Chris Jones for allowing Herbert to get around him for the game clinching run. More willingness by White men to start speaking up and calling **** out more readily, a bit more evidence of black fatigue? Or maybe I'm reading too much into it but gotta say in my many years of watching the NFL it's rare for White players and coaches to go off on black players when they deserve it, and of course they often do, so to see it twice in one game is refreshing.

Roger Staubach who didn't get to become the Cowboys regular starter until age 29 and was injured in his age 30 season was 72-28 from age 31-37. Probably could've kept playing as he passed for a personal record 3,586 yards, 27 TD's, and led the league in passer rating at age 37 retired because of too many concussions, I believe.
I think only Tom Brady has a higher career QB winning percentage than Staubach.
I always wondered what Staubach could've done from age 22-28. He missed 4 years by honoring his Navy commitment. Landry didn't start Staubach full time for another 2.5 years.

Agreed Don, this was the highlight of the night for me. Tranquil is an alpha and commands that defense. Again, simple containment and yet another black that cannot do that most basic of defensive assignments.
 
One has to wonder why Jones was lined up on the outside anyways. His specialty is interior pass rushing. It’s a bizarre coaching decision to put him out there in that position in that situation. Then you have Jones’ own decision to rush inside to get a clear shot at the pocket instead of rushing outside to contain a possible scramble. He obviously wanted to be the hero and get the game-saving sack on Herbert. It was pure ego on his part and Tranquill knew it. Good on him for calling it out.
 
Nice little shove block by McConkey on a short pass. The K.C. defender looked in position to tackle but McConkey made that nifty little block to help get another ten plus yards. Very heady play.

For some reason the play brought Hunter Renfrow to mind with his high football IQ.

Must I say this brought back a bad memory of Brett Favre screaming at Bill Schroeder for gator arming one of his most likely errant throws (don't quote me that might have been a catchable ball). It was embarrassing in real time because I just knew he was a WGA devotee that would not raise his voice to any of them.

Yeah put it on the coach, after all those years of dealing with the egos of established players he should know he would always do that and this is not race dependent plenty of White stars would have probably done the same thing if placed out of place.
 


Rabbi Eisen tries to make a joke about Harrison Butker. Comments are encouraging, calling out the obvious when it comes to Eisen.

To Don’s point Mahomes has been regressing the last few years. The team success masked his regression but it’s clear he’s not the same qb. For example Mahomes Air yards per attempt and per completion went from 9.1 and 7.8 to 6.2 and 4.9 beginning in 2022. They have remained around there in 23,24. His epa per drop back went from 1st in 2021 and 22 all the way to 9th in 23 and 10th in 24. Big Time Throws went from 6.7% in 2021 to 3.6% in 24.
I know you need to take advanced stats with a grain of salt but mahomes has gotten worse in all of them across the board and significantly so. The trend for him is a clear and irreversible downward slide. It will be interesting to see how much he falls off this year

They might, but the defensive coach should have (maybe he did) pound into them that’s scramble outside could result in a first down and the game…

It’s just wild to see how poor coaching is, as well as a lack of fundamentals and mental lapses of players at the professional level.

I expected his legs to go within five or six years. That's inevitable for most QBs. But I never thought his arm was going to evaporate that fast. Even Russell Wilson can still occasionally lob up a moon ball or two. Mahomes is struggling to throw past 30-40 yards at this point. Outraged fans are ragging on the Chiefs' playcalling, but in their grief-stricken DWF hysteria they are failing to recognize that Mahomes is simply physically incapable of making the throws he used to make. There's a good chance this guy has the shortest prime of any Hall of Fame QB in NFL history.
 



Without trying to stir up any BQBDS this play by Mahomes was a prime example of how the rules are so slanted in favor of offense and QBs. Mahomes knows the rules protect him and as the CB lets up he goes in for a hit knowing that the DB not dare try to tackle him that close to the sideline. Mahomes has played this game on the sidelines with his flops for years. I hope this year he gets his clock cleaned on the sidelines.
