It’s looking pretty good for the Majestic Beast in Dallas as their running back room is pretty thin. Hopefully it works out. The dumbsh@t author in the 2nd link brings up Hunters 150 against South Dakota but not his 180 yards against a tough pac 12 defense in Arizona pathetic!

Undrafted Rookie WR David Durden is the type of talent had he not been sidetracked by baseball ; he could have played at an SEC school like Auburn or UGA.

Durden's pic is too large to post of course....

Role Call: Durden's Path from Baseball, D-2 to NFL

How He Got Here: Certainly not the usual route to the NFL, but Durden's journey included stops at Mercer and West Florida playing football, along with a season of minor league baseball. What he brings to the table is a sure-handed receiver that caught 88 passes for nearly 2,000 yards in his two seasons at West Florida, a Division II school. Durden also tied the school record with 23 touchdowns in those two seasons.

What's Next:: Like all undrafted free agents, Durden will have his work cut out for him, just to make the practice squad and especially the 53-man roster. But one of the best ways to do that is to have a presence on special teams. He does have some kick-return experience but he's going to have to show the willingness and ability to cover kicks as well. As a receiver, it's a stacked group of not only experienced vets such as Lamb, Cooks and Gallup at the top, but a large group of hungry receivers behind them looking for spots such as Tolbert, Fehoko, Turpin and Houston, not to mention the four other rookie receivers along with Durden. But camp is long and the preseason games tend to matter as well. If he can make plays on a consistent basis, that's how you work up the depth chart.

Bet You Didn't Know: Durden was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2017 and spent one season in the minor leagues, playing in the Florida Complex League. He played 30 games, battled .220 with nine RBIs and a .311 on-base percentage.

Durden and Luepke make Dallas all that more interesting to follow this season.

Obviously he had to be humble but it sounds like they are preparing him for blocking and special teams. It wasn’t like they spoke about his vision or running ability or oily hips or whatever other bs abilities whitey lacks.

Don’t see how you guys can stomach watching this. It seems to me it’s like a humiliation ritual.
Actually there's been a lot of talk about using him as a receiver and short yardage runner, and occasionally as a running back who does more than just run at the goal line. Who knows how it'll unfold as this is the NFL and the worst often happens, but your description is not the consensus on how Luepke is being viewed early on.

Also, there's a Luepke thread, which is where articles and discussion about him should go.

LVE just released, possibly (likely) retiring, and likely due to the dirty blindside block/hit Trent Williams laid on him

An all-time great calls it quits:

Zack Martin retired from the NFL after 11 seasons. A lifelong Cowboy, Martin has opted to call it quits after 11 seasons. Few guards in NFL history have done it better than Martin, whose seven First-Team All-Pros are tied for 14th most in NFL history. Every player with seven or more All-Pro nominations is in the Hall of Fame, with the exception of the Rams’ Aaron Donald, who is likely to be a first-ballot nominee once eligible. Martin is a near-lock for Canton once eligible. Drafted with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Martin started all 162 games he appeared in during his career and appeared in 15 or more games in all but three seasons. Martin suffered an ankle injury in Week 11 that was later determined to require season-ending surgery. His absence will create a gaping hole on the right side of the Cowboys’ line, but could be addressed by plugging in T.J. Bass, who remains under contract for next season and played 315 snaps at both guard positions last season. Still, it’s possible Martin’s retirement creates yet another need the Cowboys will need to address this offseason, in addition to finding a running back and securing key players to long-term deals.

Zack Martin authored the most unbelievable stat I have ever heard- He had more career All-pro selections than career holding penalties!
Also hats off to Zack martin for managing to somehow play offensive line in the nfl with only 32 inch arms. What would the draft “gurus” say!

Of course Martin was a left tackle in college when he played at a little school called Notre Dame. He was one of the best left tackles in all of college football 2010 through 2012. Entering the draft it was apparent that his college performance was all smoke and mirrors so he was moved inside to guard. He might have become a center but his arms were too short to reach the ball without bending over excessively. Zack Martin is one of those "Exhibit A's" of the caste system where even though he was beyond outstanding at one of the biggest programs in the country, playing against the top competition is not good enough. His skin color and made-up metrics make him move to a "more acceptable" position.

Talented linebacker Jack Sanborn signs a 1 year deal. If the Cowboys are smart (they are generally not), they could have a stud starting player at an extreme White Man’s Discount.
