Yes indeed Deceptive Speed!
Announcers called Wofford's Fletcher Magee " Best Shooter in College Basketball"! He scored 20 points tonight & team Won Conf. Tournament & received Automatic bid to NCAA's w 29- 4 overall record.
I'm glad to see Wofford pull it out tonight. They are a pretty fun team to watch, and I think will win a game in the Big Dance. Magee had a good game, but it was Nathan Hoover who carried the Terriers in the 2nd Half. Over a stifling UNCG defense, Hoover caught fire in the 2nd half, with 20 points (all in the 2nd) to help Wofford pull away from the Spartans, who had a great effort from senior guard Francis Alonso, who had 21 points in the loss.
I'm glad one of these conference title games finally went our way after watching Lipscomb, Belmont, and Northern Iowa blow their games over the weekend. Those schools have a combined 10 white starters out of 15, plus a BUNCH of white role players. Their replacements in the Dance? 2 out of 15, and nearly no white subs. It was a disappointing weekend, especially watching Northern Iowa blow a 23(!!) point second half lead to Bradley yesterday. We lost out on a LOT of potential white stars who could've been playing. Iowa continues to shoot itself in the foot, blowing a 9 points lead in the final minute of their game to lose at Nebraska. I guess it kept with the theme of the day where most of the white-friendly teams weren't able to finish their games. I am glad to see Wisconsin ended up beating Ohio State after blowing a 20 points second half lead to buck the trend set by the earlier games.
Despite these setbacks, there are still a few smaller conference teams who've got a shot to make it. Northeastern is one such team. They outlasted Charleston 70-67. Their leader is senior PG Vasa Pusica, a long guard who can make the winning plays. He had 13 points, 7 assists, and 5 boards tonight.
John Konchar and PFW had a tough loss in their conference tournament tonight, but the team that beat them, Omaha, has a couple of white forwards in Mitch Hahn and Matt Pile, who are two of the three best players on the Mavericks roster. Hahn had 16 and 7 tonight, and Pile had 9 points and 11 boards.
The Wright State Raiders, who have 4 white starters, won against Green Bay to advance to the Horizon Championship Game. Billy Wampler led the Raiders with 18 points.
