2017 NFL Week 14

Nick Foles is the biggest mystery to me.

Why he is a backup in this league is beyond comprehension.

Carson Wentz is a superstar i understand. But, The Eagles are damn lucky to have Foles to take over.
 
Woody is getting reps, but no plays yet.
 
We can only hope that the Pats beat the Rooney plantation next week.
I knew when the Ravens went into Prevent (before the game began) that anybody and their grandmother could beat them. Sure enough...
It certainly prevents teams from winning every time they do it.

I'd bet you could throw for 500 against a team that let you throw to wide open receivers all night.

It was a vanilla chocolate swirl. Granted the chocolate did the primary hit, but it was a legal clean hit as Wentz was a runner who didn't give himself up.
 
During the Steelers-Ravens game, I noticed that every single time that two white Steeler TE's (Vance McDonald and Jesse James) caught a pass, the Steeler DWF's would chant "Heeeeath" in a deep tone. Do they think that Heath Miller is still playing? Are they excited to see someone of their own race catching a pass and want to find a way to express their satisfaction?

This "deep tone chant for white tight ends and fullbacks" phenomenon has been happening for 15+ years. The same chant could always be heard for Todd Heap in Baltimore, John Kuhn in Green Bay, Heath Miller in Pittsburgh, Aaron Ripkowski in Green Bay, Chris Cooley in Washington, etc. In fact, during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the host nation started 10 blacks and 1 white (Matthew Boothe) and every time that Booth touched the ball, the fans did the same deep tone chant of "Boooooth."

It's a strange occurrence and it's only done for white fullbacks and tight ends (especially ones perceived as "blue collar" types), never white receivers or white running backs.
 
Yesterday during the Rams-Panthers game, the bi-polar commentator, Troy Aikman, said that "Cooper Kupp is one of those receivers who doesn't have a lot of speed at all, but does have some quickness."

Was Kupp fast enough on this play, Troy?



After another 100-yard game, Kupp now has 56 catches for 783 yards and 4 TD's as a rookie. He'll need to average 72 yards in the remaining 3 games to achieve a 1,000-yard season.

Strange is the word. You are probably right about the "Heath" sound but for some reason every time James caught the ball last night I heard more of the U sound like in Kuhn or a Cooper. I was totally confused. But excellent observation. The semi scrub do all the dirty work white FB's or some white TE's are on the receiving call on these crowd noises. The U sound beats the E sound because it has a lower register and sounds like it is coming in from the deep. That said too bad Vance McDonald just off the injury list got banged up again and had to leave the game because James (10-97) and McDonald (4-52) form a kind of Thunder (James) and Lightening ( McDonald) combination.

As for the game last night the black CB's on the Ravens are simply terrible. The one receiver, Antonio Brown, they had to keep an eye on they lost track of especially at crunch time. Bad defensive schemes and why not bring in a safety to double team him. Wide open prairie for the guy all damn night long. Suitably the game ended with a TJ Watt sack which finished off a day where many white defensive players had stellar days around the NFL. Is it me or has TJ Watt grown since leaving Wisconsin? He is a terrific edge setter and makes a huge difference for that defense. And he is just scratching the surface. In the not too distant future I could see comparisons of a hybrid between one time Steeler Kevin Greene and Clay Matthews. The only question for the Steelers is trying to fill the shoes of MLB Shazier which is going to be tough. The Ravens ran it down their throats last night. One other observation. Watching Danny Woodhead last night I thought about Zane Dudek. Dudek is not very big but he is not nearly as small as Woodhead so down the road expect to see Dudek in an NFL uniform when it is all said and done.

I didn't watch the game last night (or much of the NFL yesterday) - did Matkevich play for the Steelers?

Hey Thrashen,

I've noticed that from Steelers' fans all season when Jesse James makes plays. I remember the "Heeeeeeath" and all the other players of the same type you mentioned chants (Things like this still give me faith in the instincts of Whites to admire talents of our own stock). However, I'm pretty sure I can hear them yelling out "Jesseeeeeeeeeee". The first syllable is so shortened I think all we're hearing is the exaggerated long second one. That's how I'm hearing it, anyway.

Not sure about Vance as I didn't hear much on his plays from the crowd. Maybe just the same gutteral tone or they thought it was James involved in the play, lol. These types of chants are strange but cool as it's coming from the 95% White crowds....

Leonardfan, Matakevich is out with a shoulder injury. He had a good chance of being the starter had he been ready to go, thus giving the Steelers two white starters on D.
 
A wild ride of a week with some good bits and bad bits but if rising star QB Wentz did suffer an ACL this season will go down as perhaps the worst ever for key players going down. The list is too long but star players have been dropping like flys this season. I have a theory and White Lightening suggested white youth participate in soccer and track and field which is a great idea. I think running and jumping around is a good thing but ever since the emergence of weight lifting the injury level seems to have gone up dramatically. Take baseball for instance. Guys pull hamstrings running the bases now. I don't recall that happening back when. The athlete of today is more explosive and stronger but they appear much less limber than players from an earlier era. Everybody seems so packed with muscles and are as stiff as boards. The black DB's might run fast 40 yard dashes but most of them are totally uncoordinated and incapable of adjusting to balls in the air. With all this stretching and muscle building all I see are more injuries than ever. Not an expert but I figure the muscle bulk strains the joints.

As mentioned above S Clayton Fejedelem had a career game in a loss. One week too late idiots. They could have used him in the second half against the Steelers last week. That loss took the spirit out of them and expect HC Marvin Jones to be fired at the end of the season. Their QB Dalton is still young enough to build a team around.

Speaking of building teams around the two elite MLB's today put on a show yesterday. Sean Lee and Luke Kuechly are the type of old fashioned linebackers you don't see as often in college anymore. They have top of the line athletic skills. Can chase down runners sideline to sideline. They diagnose plays and quickly attack. They relish contact. They are the field generals who run the entire defense. And they are the type of player college recruiters often ignore. They look up how mostly black players "scored" on the Nike camp drills and sign them up instead. Meanwhile on the college level we get to witness a plethora of bad black defenses that are made up of players who "look good in shorts" but can't diagnose a play or tackle or anything else for that matter other than running fast in a straight line. Hence we get these 68-62 football scores where clueless defensive players have left their pride at the door. No if I am building a team the FIRST group of players I want are linebackers in the Kuechly/Lee mold. That is how you build a winner. Not the fancy pants mostly black Nike camp studs that litter college football today.

The lack of stellar white safeties is another sore spot. Finally given a chance players like the superb Jeff Heath and Daniel Sorensen have proven they have what it takes. As the Bengals twiddle their thumbs you would hope the light bulb finally turns on concerning Fejedelem.
Eric Weddle is still a good player at his age but the best S mantle now sits with Harrison Smith. There was a time white safeties littered the NFL landscape. Top flight athletes like Nolan Cromwell or Cliff Harris were fantastic and exciting. They would QB the defensive backfield and were brilliant with their all around play. Back in the day the all pro teams featured many stud white safeties who were the equivalent of Lee and Kuechly today.Yet once again when you check the college landscape, like the evolution of the CB position, white safeties are becoming more and more rare. And we get these 59-51 final scores with black WR's piling up massive stats as the black DB's who performed well on the Nike run tests get sizzled all game long. If nothing else I would love to see the return of the white safety as a staple on college and pro teams. A lot of the early Super Bowl teams often had an athletic white free safeties to anchor their defenses.


It was nice to see Cole Beasley finally bust loose on a long play (3-59) and Eric Decker got a little more involved (3-56) but the black QB and white WR dynamic is still lacking big time. Every time I think of Jordy I get sick to my stomach.

Thielen (6-105-1) as mentioned had a solid game and a beautiful 52 yard TD. And what should have been the huge break out game for Cooper Kupp (5-118-1) somehow got derailed. First off the Rams got nailed with two bad calls and one of them cost them a TD. After a hot start the Rams were seldom on the field as I was licking my chops hoping for more big plays from Kupp. But it never transpired and the Rams, who had a chance to pull away from the dreaded Seahawks, lost an uncomfortable game. Still Kupp looks like the real deal after his second good game in a row. One smaller note Denver WR Jordan Taylor looks to be their PR now and he sported a nice 5-62 stat line on that score.

Kupp isn't straight-line fast, but he's very quick and is very good at running after the catch. Aikman's assessment is right on the money.

Still recovering from surgery but I watched a lot yesterday. As you and others have posted it was another tremendous day for White defensive players, the "tokens" who almost always shine when given a chance to play in a league filled with awful black-dominated defenses.

I still often read and hear the lamentations about how "weak" the quarterback position is, but never about how bad any other positions are. As in most cases, the truth is just the opposite -- we remain in a golden era of great quarterbacks, almost all of them White, while defenses are on average atrocious, and there are few really good running backs and receivers.

And the injury plague is worse than ever, though it's struck Whites as well as blacks. Totally wrecked fantasy football for me this year, which is likely a good thing. I'm hoping that another injury-filled season will cause fantasy football to "jump the shark" and start declining in popularity. If that happens, then you'll really see the NFL hurting. The league has taken a number of hits this season but the fundamental business model is still strong. It needs to feel a lot more pain to actually put a serious crimp in what has been the cash cow of cash cows for both the NFL and the corporate media.

They actually used to chant "Cooooooop" for Riley Cooper in Philly. Until the media drive him out of town he was well liked. Now that Foles is taking the reigns perhaps the Eagles would be smart to pick up Cooper again for peanuts. He and Foles were so great together!
