This Georgia Tech commit looks pretty impressive. I read an article that says Laksey is starting off in the backfield at the B-Back spot. Here are his highlights.

Hopefully, he gets a shot to run the ball for the Yellowjackets, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Here is his Rival's Profile

b-back is the fullback spot, at Navy when Johnson was coaching, the white guys that lined up there were never referred to anything besides fullbacks, then Paul Johnson went to GT and used black guys at the position it becomes the b-back position, and nobody questioned whether Dwyer was a tailback or fullback at the next level, it was assumed he would play tailback. Totally different from when Kyle Eckel had over 1,000 yards rushing one season in the same spot, only given chances at fullback, except for a few garbage time carries Bellicheck gave him. That is why he can't stick to a roster, because he isn't a natural fullback. If he played tailback he could stick on a team.

But playing the fullback spot in the triple option isnt a bad thing, he will get plenty of carries if they start him, its basically the tailback of the offense, just lined up a little closer, from his highlights it looks like he would be better suited for that rather than the slotback position that runs more to the outside. The only problem is how they will treat him when he goes pro, assuming they do start him at the b-back spot. Maybe Johnson will realize the error of his ways. He had a very bad season this year, had less whites than he ever had a Navy, and probably realizes you need more to run that type of offense successfully.

Is the B-Back the tail back in their system or the full back anyone know.
As snow said, it's the FB spot. But when a black guy is starting there, it's referred to as B-Back position, and everyone knows he's a runner, look at Dwyer. But if a white guy starts at it, it's immediatly called "fullback" again and he's an overachiever.

Very impressive highlight reel. If he were black he would be compared to the next Eddie George. I hope he gets a fair shot from Paul Johnson to tote the rock and be utilized to his full potential while at Tech.

I'm sorry but choosing GA Tech was just an awful choice if this kid wants to play RB at the next level. Nothing about this decision says "good choice". Paul Johnson just gave a white high school RB a full ride knowing full well in his head that he just landed his future 3 year starting FB. Hopefully he switches over to defense rather than languish on the offensive side of the ball being a glorified "guard in the backfield".

Lucas Cox was used at RB more than any White in recent memory at GT, but still just had 22 carries this season. He was used mainly as a blocking back. Maybe Zach will get a decent shot to be the man in the backfield. I do agree that he could have made a much better college choice though. The odds are definitely against him starting.

He was only recruited by mid-level schools and Air Force and Navy were his only other offers. He should be a three star recruit, not a two star, but we all know why that is. It's a difficult and unfortunate situation for him, but at least he's getting some offers which is more than what many others just like him get. Hopefully, Johnson, after getting beat by Air Force, will be more apt to use someone like him.

Laskey is being recruited as a b-back, a fullback in the option is not a glorified guard in the backfield, they see the ball at least 150 times a season and they are the staple of the offense, the fb dive is option number 1. qb keep is number 2 and pitch to the slotback is number 3. Cox played as a backup slotback last year and was pretty much used as a blocker when they went to the outside. They are supposed to run the ball to each side an equal number of times. He backed up both the b-back and a-back spots this year.

Anthony Allen and Roddy Jones saw the majority of the playing time at the slotback positions in 09 and had around 100 carries between the two of them combined. Anthony Allen was switched to b-back in 2010 and had 217 carries. So if Laskey gets a chance to start at fullback its the best possible option for him at Georgia Tech. Although Cox was screwed around, he shouldve been the b-back this year with Allen staying at slotback, he did fill in a few times when Allen struggled. Hopefully Johnson learned from the past 2 years on what type of players he has to play to win. It won't help his draft status but at least we would get to see him run if they start him there.

As far as I know, the b-back doesn't do much blocking if at all in Paul Johnson's offense, he does get hit every play though since he is the first option

Don't forget snow, great athletes like Jonathan Dwyer and Anthony Allen are refered to as B-Backs, or running backs. Whereas a great fellow like Laskey will most likely be referred to as a Fullback.Edited by: Jack Lambert
