Wasn't "their" country.
No people have an intrinsic "right" to a spot of land. They have to earn it and fight to keep it. Example: the native europe countries that have been inhabited by white peoples for tens of thousands of years will soon belong to another people. Will the "rights" of the Swedes, French or Dutch have done them any good. Not a bit. Same thing for the Indians. Same thing for us white Americans.
And when a white American like yourself refers to the land his ancestors struggled and died to make their own as a place where the Indians should "have been left alone in THEIR country" you can see the problem we face.
