Collie works out for the odious Redskins. From Yahoo…

The Washington Redskins worked out veteran wide receiver Austin Collie, according to a league source.

Collie caught four passes for 57 yards for the New England Patriots last season in the AFC championship game against the Denver Broncos

Apparently, the Patriots might be interested in re-signing Collie also. This is most likely to occur when that special time of year rolls around and the Patriots PTB realize that all of their draft picks and free agency signings aren’t working out. It happens every season, especially with their free agent WR's and Brandon LaFell and Josh Boyce could be the next victims in 2014 [fingers crossed]. From MusketFire…

Pats are still in play to re-sign Austin Collie and could potentially add a Miles Austin-type (no financial commitment/camp vet).

Collie had a nice, concussion-free 2013-2014 campaign, and seemed to have regained his great speed in the final few weeks of the season. By the start of the 2014, it’ll have been two full years since his last concussion.

Yeah, I just saw this as well. He's going to be playing in the CFL, which is better than not playing at all. He forgot to mention that not only has he had some concussions, he is melanin-deficient.

Actually maybe not playing is better then playing in a small league for a small salary and risk more brain cracking. It's his choice though, I'm sure he loves to play.

After a few years of even a minimum NFL contract I would be taking an early retirement.

I'm sure it's just coincidence that the only other receiver mentioned in the Collie article with a concussion history who has drawn no NFL interest is the great Wes Welker.

Meanwhile, Miles "Perpetual Hamstring Pull" Austin inked a $2.3 million one-year deal with the Eagles today. Austin's a shell of what he was back when he had his only two good seasons in 2009 and '10. Collie and even Welker at his advanced NFL age can run rings around Austin on the field. Using their past concussions to purge them against their will is an easy way to keep the number of White receivers in the league at a minimally acceptable number.
