SteveB, I am sure you know that all those State Champion teams from Permian (Odessa, TX) were overwhelmingly white. There were different coaches and different systems, but the one thing that did not change when they were most successful was the demographics. 1995-96 was the last time Permian won a championship. Nowadays, even crosstown rival OHS beats Permian. Oh yeah, the team and school are much more diverse these days.
I was in Plano (TX)in 1994, when Plano Senior High won the state title. Virtually all-white team. The diverse squad was across town, at Plano East.
