This isn't the best Cardinals team when it comes to demographics and won-lost record but they're a lot easier to root for than the Mets. Way to go Carlos Beltran, taking a called third strike with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

What's that now, five pennants for Tony LaRussa along with a bunch of other playoff teams. He's one of the best managers ever.

I knew after the Twins went out that there was no chance for a white friendly team to make it to the World Series. I don't particularly care who wins, hockey is getting all my attention at the moment.

Me too. I usually like watching the playoffs, but so far haven't tuned in for a single inning and don't care at all about the upcoming World Series.

Yah well. At least the Mets didn't make it. With that owner who said publically that he doesn't want white players.

The Mets really deserved to lose... Cocky bastards. Ha, the best part was watching all the Met fans practically in tears when they lost.

The Mets fans,as in most cities are for the most part Whites. The establishment elite have said that the team has been put together to mirror the diverse population of the city. The same can be said about the Yankees across town.If we all think about the racial make up of our favorite baseball teams,we find that this happening in every city that has a major league franchise.

It would be interesting to know if true fans want to see the best players in the game,or ones who reflect the diversity of a particular area.

Well if Toronto wants to do that they better send scouts out to the Mongolian border to look for prospects. I remember some numb nuts in the Toronto media talking about how the Blue Jays brass had a mandate to reflect the cities diversity. The PC moron spouted on that the poor attendance reflected this. Meanwhile the Leafs sellout every game and never have a minority player...

Well, even if the proportion of whites is not as great as in last year's series, there are still some enjoyable aspects to note. Did you see 42 year old white veteran Kenny Rogers frustrate assorted Latinos, blacks (and some whites, too, obviously) last night? If he, Nate, Justin, Jeremy (and Todd "Heart attack" Jones)finish strong, the whites will stand out as the reason the Tigers won (if they win).

Way to go Kenny!

Nolan Ryan, Kenny Rogers, Roger Clemens, Tom Seaver...there are a number of white pitchers who were/are still superstars in their 40's. I can't think of any Latino or black pitchers who continued to excel even in their 40's. Can anyone expand/initiate either list?

Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Don Sutton, Gaylord Perry, Phil Niekro and Warren Spahn all were/are still good pitchers into their 40s. The great Steve Carlton (who hated the media and later got in trouble for talking about a "Jewish conspiracy" running things) faded right at 40. Jamie Moyer is far from an all-time great, but discovered the fountain of youth in his 40s.

The only non-white pitcher that comes to mind is Luis Tiant, who faded in his late 30s though he was always rumored to be one of those "latin" players who was older than he claimed to be.

Satchel Paige comes to mind. But the list is short. Probably the greatest modern era black pitcher(Bob Gibson)burned out rather young.

Paige only won 28 games (and lost 31), so he doesn't qualify as a star pitcher in his 40s.

Lee Smith was a closer until age 39 when he retired.

Didn't Paige help the Indians win the 48' league title down the stretch, with his superb relief work? At that point he was 38?(Might have been older as his age was always disputed)... I looked up the stats he was 42.Edited by: white is right

Sean Casey .462 and Brandon Inge .385 TWO WHITE STARTERS AND THEY'RE ALL BATTING ABOVE .300!! only one non-white player is batting above .300 on the Tigers.

Now look at the Cards: Eckstein .333, Edmonds .308, Rolen .438 !! only one non-white player is above .300 on the Cards. Mr. MVP Pujols is batting .167

Better to mirror the population than have the near 100% black monopoly of the NFL and NBA.

I personally would prefer to watch the best players in their respective sports play the game; but in the mean time I'd wouldn't mind watching a team that actually mirrored the racial demographics of the city in which the team is located. At least then the NFL would have to have more than a token handful of white players on the team.

It is nice to see players like Eckstein--who won a WS with Angels, Rolen and Edmonds win a WS. Rolen and Edmonds are potential HOF players. I wopuld take Rolen over Alex Rodriguez. Grittier and tougher and uh like ten times better fielder.

American whites, other than here, want to see the best players. Every other race wants to see their own kind.

well its offical...the world series was a CASTE FOOTBALL success...the whites shined...the blacks made stupid idoitic errors, and pujols didnt do anything either...Eckstein and Rolen, as well as Sean Casey shined on offense...and Monroe, and that black pitcher, as well as other minorities made bad plays and stupid decisions, im sure we all saw that throw to first base, or that missed catch by monroe in center field. Not to mention Eckstein won MVP and the overall whiter team won...not as good as last years world series, but still good.

This world series, though not among the most exciting, was interesting, and showed the attention to,the basics, and love of the game exhibited by the players mentioned in above post by jcole02.Jim Edmonds, who has been battling injuries for quite some time again showed how the position of center field should be played.

Does anyone notice how Berkman and Pujols put up fairly similar numbers yet Pujols is crowned the best baseball player in the world and Berkman gets no accolades.

A few more for us old-and-greyers: Wilbur Wood, Whitey Ford, Hoyt Wilhelm, Jim Kaat. Some knuckleballers in there. Non-whites: Juan Marichal, Ferguson Jenkins.

Wow: I didn't know that "Lefty" Carlton spake the truth about our Overseers.
