Really looking forward to this fight! I'm a massive Klitschko supporter, so look forward to any of their fights. Wladimir is such an alltime great, his skills, fighting tactics, and his whole career has just been magnificent to watch. He is like the Pete Sampras or Roger Federer of boxing. Wlad is simply magnificent and such a joy to watch. Wlad's 2011 fight with David Haye is probably the most excited Ive ever been for a boxing fight, in about 15 years of watching this sport!

This fight is interesting in that Wlad is fighting an undefeated European fighter, and it's gonna give us a good idea of how good Pianeta is. This is obviously the biggest test for him. Manuel Charr used his loss to Vitali Klitschko in a good way, now he's fighting David Haye, and he seems to become a better fighter since his loss to Vitali. Maybe Pianeta can do the same thing with Wlad here.

It's gonna be a great fight from two talented Euro fighters. I also love watching boxing bouts from Germany, because to be honest, the production quality is infinitely better than in USA. I find the shows much more entertaining, better matched, and just better produced. Not to mention I also prefer the Euro Boxing scene to the American as I find there are better fights and fighters in Europe.

Pianeta also seems like a great guy, so on a small level I will be rooting for him as well. I'm a massive Wlad fan though so overall I'm always rooting for him!

Prediction: Klitschko TKO 6 :boxing:

Weigh-in today in Mannheim;

Wlad is looking ripped as always. Perfect physique. When I work out at the gym I try and get jacked like that. I'm like halfway there (lol). Its interesting that Wlad is always so much more muscular and ripped than his brother Vitali, who has the same genes as him. Anyways, Vitali's fighting style is much different than Wlad's so I guess that is partially explained through their physiques. Francesco Pianeta also looks in great shape, probably the best shape Ive ever seen him look for a fight.

I'm excited for this one! Hoping for a great fight and let's go Wlad!

I think the fight starts at 4:30PM ET - which means that if I turn it on at 4:31PM it will already be over due to an amazing knockout, or if I turn it on at 3:30PM I will have to sit through three or four hours of little black and/or Mexican midgets bouncing around the ring.

Jameel McCline must be a lurker on this board......:biggrin: He states that Wlad deserves to be mentioned among the pantheon of great heavyweights. Funny note I remember a few years back listening to a PPV heavyweight card and hearing a NYC accented commentator talking about his heavyweight title shots and wondering who this White guy was(I remember Gerry Cooney's voice)......http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/mccline-breaks-down-klitschko-pianeta-193849

I've missed a couple fights I wanted to see live because the times posted by someone else were incorrect.

I would keep tabs on what is happening hours before the when the fight should start.

Considering this is in Germany, The fight should start after 5pm EST.

The schedules always seem coy about start times. And my problems above are part of Murphy's Law.

"Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KOs) should be considered among best heavyweights in the history of our sport. With legends like Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, George Foreman or Mike Tyson,” said former heavyweight contender Jameel McCline..."

That's good as far as it goes, but bums like Cassius Clay and Joe Louis weren't even in the same league as the K's, and neither were the rest of them. Clay, for instance, never fought a single eastern European or Russian or Cuban or black African, and he couldn't even beat guys weighing in the 180's (they'd look ridiculously small in the ring with a K!) without his usual cheating, like crooked judges and crooked corner men, like Sir Henry Cooper and Doug Jones and even someone named Alonzo Johnson who in realty kicked his butt. Bum of the Month Joe Louis' gloves were loaded for Schmeling II.

Hi there, as a longtime boxing fan who has watched many fights from Germany, in my own opinion, a good rule of thumb is to plan for a 4PM start whenever fights are coming from Germany. 5PM is leaving it a bit late IMO. Better to be safe and a little early (4PM), than to be sorry and miss the fight (5PM). It's important to understand these events are live, and depending on other fights, may influence the timing of the main event.

I agree that Clay was a bum. A contrived champion fighting specially picked opponants and often getting shady decisions. Not only that but the late stage of his career was pathetic. The "rope-a-dope" era was such a poor example of a fighter not doing any fighting that it is laughable when the K-bros detractors accuse them of being "boring". Not only that if a fighter went into a shell like that today they would end the fight, refs don't let a fighter ever take punches without responding anymore.

Louis however was a good fighter, I wouldn't dispute the accusation of shenanigans in the second Schmelling fight, due to the politics, but otherwise he seemed to be the best in his era which was fairly open compared to say the 1960s-70s.

I think Foreman and Holmes were also good but lucky, they missed the East Euro take over of the sport.

I think Joe Louis was probably the best black heavyweight. Of couse he got knock out by superior white men. I think when Marciano knocked his black butt out of the ring he weighed like 189 pounds.

Thanks for the streams. As everyone knows, Christophe Lemaitre is my favorite athlete on earth but Wladimir Klitschko is a very close 2nd. I watch all of his and Vitalis fights. I have always preferred Wlads style a little more but I do root for both guys obviously.

Looking for another big knock out win and it will be Wlads 60th win! History in the making.

Wladimir is such an alltime great and role model. His career has been tremendous and not only is he the best boxer right now, I would say he is quite possibly the best active athlete of all sports in the world right now. Obviously that's quite a grand statement to make, but when you consider his championship reign (which began initially in 2003), and his level of dominance, it's hard to find another athlete in any sport that has dominated to the extent he has.

Wlad is my fave athlete of all sports, by far!

I'm also a huge supporter of Lucian Bute, Felix Sturm, and lately Ive become a huge Tyson Fury and Mago Abdusalamov fan! :)

Also, thanks to Carcharias for the links;

That one seems to be working best for me.

Wladimir makes his ring entrance to "Can't Stop" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, like always!

Both guys look super focused! I can't wait. This should be a great fight :)

Wlad carved out of stone. If he were black he would be on all the magazine covers and ESPN the Magazine body issue.
