Vladimir Hyrunov, the manager of WBA "regular" heavyweight beltholder Alexander Povetkin (25-0, 17KOs), is hoping a deal can be reached to fight IBO/WBO/WBA/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50KOs) - before both sides are forced to enter a purse bid.

Wladimir Klitschko and Alex Povetkin have been ordered to fight each other twice by alphabet organizations, and both times, that went to a purse bid with K2 Promotions winning (Klitschko`s group). Povetkin had mandatory challenger status but both times he has backed out of the fight for various reasons.

Sauerland seems to have more invested in Povetkin at this point, and I think they will try very hard to win the purse bid this time around. Sauerland is by far the most powerful European promoter and I think it`s somewhat possible that they win the purse bid this time around. Kalle Sauerland (son of German-South African Wilfried, guy who always wears stylish suits at most European fights) is pushing very hard for Povetkin this time and he will try his best to win the bid.

It looks like this fight finally will happen and I am ***Super*** Excited, this is easily my most anticipated fight of 2013. I can`t wait for this fight and a win for Wladimir will be glorious and even further his already alltime great status.

Can`t wait for this one! I`m a big fan of both guys but of course I would be fully backing Wlad in this fight!

It looks like Wlad will fight a voluntary on April 6th before fighting Povetkin in the summer. Apparently Solis is on the short list for being the April opponent.

Wladimir will blow the slow and plodding Solis away in 4-5 rounds for sure. I'd love to see him pummel Bryant Jennings into submission. Or what about Deonte Wilder who has been fighting tomato cans to his undefeated record? That fight will never happen because I doubt Wilder even fights a B level heavyweight his entire career. Surprisingly, Boxrec has Vitali as the number one heavyweight in the world now.

Solis got KO'd in 1 round by Vitali but complained about the stoppage. Said he was beating Vitali until he injured his leg. Of course, Vitali was beating him at will and Solis was intimidated from the opening bell.

Do we need Sponge Bob to get flattened a second time? There has to be somebody that can have more box office appeal than this mismatch? For those who missed Solis' first title fight here it is....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxW_1r_SZGA

The subhuman animal Chisora at it again!

[h=1]Report: Another Klitschko-Chisora incident[/h]Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and Dereck Chisora allegedly were separated by bouncers after a chance meeting led to a confrontation at a nightclub on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza according to the Mirror tabloid. There is no love between the Klitschkos and Chisora. Last year Chisora slapped Wlad’s brother Vitali in the face during the weigh-in for their fight, then Chisora spat water in Wlad’s face in the ring.

Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin a big hit in Moscow

Wlad: "There's something special in the air"

Report/photos by Przemek Garczarczyk from Moscow

Countless TV cameras, many doing live coverage of the event. Almost 300 accredited reporters – it was an unbelievable scene in Moscow’s “Mary Jane” restaurant. With 56 days to the fight, for just an initial press conference between two heavyweight champions and two Olympic champions – Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51 KO) from Ukraine and Alexander Povetkin (26-0, 18 KO) from Russia – everybody wanted to be part of the scene before what looks like will be a historic fight on October 5 at Olympic Area in Moscow.

“This is a worldwide event, with more than 150 countries broadcasting my fight with Povetkin live. There’s already something special in the air. We are both Olympic champions. We are both world champions – this already makes this fight something special. I’m sure that it will be very entertaining but also a technical fight. I’m not taking Alexander lightly, but I’m also not overestimating his skills” – said very relaxed and confident Klitschko, who later spoke with Fightnews.com.

“I know what I have to do to win this fight. I know what my strengths are. But I want to show my skills in the ring – not talk about them now” – said Povetkin, who arrived in Moscow from his strength and conditioning training in Kyrgyzstan, and was also brimming with quiet confidence and determination.

“I wanted to do the best possible boxing event in the world. Event without a clear favorite, when nobody knows who will be the winner. Of course, I wanted to do this in Russia, in Moscow. I’m very happy that I succeeded. Only when this great event on October 5 will be over, I will think about another great, world class boxing challenge. I’m only interested in the hard, tough tasks,”said event promoter and organizer, Russian businessman Andrey Ryabinsky.

Ticket sales for Klitschko-Povetkin will start in the coming days, with organizers expecting a crowd of more than 30,000 boxing fans from all over the world.

What a fight! Easily one of the biggest fights of all time. Gee, I wonder why this is getting so little coverage here in the US? Instead I get to see 122lbs Mexicans fight over and over and over and over and over again on HBO and Showtime. What a joke!

Actually I didn't realize it will broadcast be on HBO...but still as a generalization, the lower weight classes (mainly Mexicans) seem to get way more coverage then heavier weight classes. And I for one, don't really get too interested in weight classes below middle weight.

Some thoughts...

The world has clearly moved on from the days when big fights were mainly promoted in America.

In the photos above, Wladimir looks like the president of all superheroes in this galaxy. Povetkin looks like a dork.

I'm not just expecting but desiring Wladimir to win and win convincingly. Wladimir has the abilities to beat any and all comers while Povetkin does not. Wladimir's best beats the Western afflete myths.

The more the world moves away from the thoroughly corrupt boxing business in the USSA and USSK the better.

Another thing about Povetkin, he was in up to his ears with Russian Jewish mafiya street thug and USSA zio-tv commentator Teddy Atlas. I wouldn't trust him at all. Maybe he'll just lie down gently in round one in order to avoid getting a terrible beating.

If you are in your early 40's+ you will remember the days when Monaco and exotic locals had many major championship fights. Boxing has always been about following the buck. The first hyped superfight of the 20th century was in Australia because it was a site that could attract the largest gate without rioting. To be honest having every major fight in Vegas is rather boring anyway. Seeing fights in Germany, Macau or other locals suits me fine...:mod:

+100. Long gone are the days when boxing was restricted as an American sport.

Today boxing is truly a globally competitive sport, as noted in the fact we have numerous world champions from all continents except Antartica.

I once did an analysis on Boxrec, where I showed that from roughly 2000-2010, Americans lost about half of their hold on world championships. Furthermore, for the most part, the championships lost by Americans had been gained by Europeans, and to a lesser extent South Americans and Asians.

In the 1980's, Americans would have constituted approximately 70% of world champions. By the 1990's that was at around 60%. In 2000, as my analysis noted, that number was about 50%. Today it is roughly 25%.

It's important to understand that many "great" Negro American boxers from the past had it easy in the sense that they were only competing with other Americans, and the odd Brit, Frenchman, or the ultra odd German or Italian. There were very few South Americans, Asians, and Eastern Europeans were essentially nonexistent in professional boxing before the late 1990's (which also just happens to be the time Americans lost hold on pro boxing, lol!).

Boxing has become much more competitive in the past 20 years, mainly due to the end of communism and former Eastern Bloc boxers going pro. Additionally, Asians and South Americans have began turning pro in greater numbers. Russians and Ukrainians have always excelled in amateur boxing, and had they turned pro in the 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's, etc, we most likely would have seen them beating many Negro Americans, as they are today.

Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, and other Negro champions from the past had it easy in the sense that they faced very small talent pools. These Negroes didn't have to fight any Eastern Euros, South Americans, or Asians. Calling them "world champions" is stretching the truth a bit, and its more accurate to call them "American champions", or "Western champions".

Its also worth noting that Amateur Boxing tournaments occurring in recent times would indicate that boxing is going to continue moving away from the USA. The best talent in the world is being produced in Ukraine, UK, Cuba, Ireland, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Japan. The future of the sport is going to exist in European or "ethnic" American markets (ie Cubans or Mexicans turining pro in USA).

I firmly believe that MMA has become popular as a sport, largely due to the fact that boxing has been continually moving away from the American sports market. MMA is "the answer" to boxing leaving the USA. If you look in MMA now, for the most part, its gotta be 80%+ American fighters. So, because boxing has been taken over by internationals (mainly Europeans), MMA has been encouraged as a mainstream sport.

That's one of the reasons I'm generally not a fan of MMA. MMA is all about pushing American athletes, and many times that is Negro athletes (the same ones who got beaten out of boxing by Euros and Asians... so now MMA is the "new thing"). Dana White publicly rooted via his twitter for David Haye to beat Wladimir Klitschko, and that tells you which direction the head of UFC is pointing. MMA is another fabricated American sport where they will try and push their Negro athletes because they can't do it anymore in boxing.

In fact, MMA's acceptance as a mainstream sport coincides almost exactly with the time that heavyweight boxing became dominated by White Europeans.

I'm getting real excited for this one. I don't give Povetkin much chance but it will be nice to see two white heavyweights take center stage on HBO.
