We all know Jordy WILL put a show at the combine, running a low 4.4 at least, even after that, do you guys think he will be selected in the first round of the '08 draft?

Anthony Gonzalez cracked the first round last year i dotn see how Jordy could not
I voted no but its because he is white so Jordy will have to wait until the early 2nd Rd to get drafted. However, he could move into the 1st Rd with a 4.4 40 time at the combine. I mean Nelson has it all the stats, numbers, and physical size to be a 1st Rd pick but we all know what's holding him back.

Tell me what you guys think of this observation....being white costs you around 20-25 slots in the draft, i base this on the following cases, #1 pick mario williams......#13 pick adam carriker (same size, speed, big play ability) #10 pick mike "fat boy" williams over the bigger & faster #21 matt jones, etc. So where am i going with this, being that jordy nelson is a CLONE of braylan edwards (who, we have to admit is an awesome receiver) & he went #3, and he ran a mid to low 4.4 time. I will project jordy, if he runs a mid 4.4, will be drafted 20-25, if he runs a low 4.5 (same time as dwayne bowe, and he was drafted 20-25) he will go mid second round. But if, and i pray he does, run a sub 4.4, I really believe he will be top 15, because at that point, they really have nothing to hold against him. With Matt Jones, they had the built in excuse that he never played receiver before, with Mike Hass, it was his lack of elite speed, but with Nelson, they will have NOTHING to hold against him, size & speed will be elite, big 12 player, great college stats, etc. So what do you think?

That might be a good guess, but only in the case of whites with elite measurables and production. A white Mike Williams would not be drafted at all much less in the first round or second round, and would be at best a backup tight end in the NFL. There are many blacks drafted every year in all rounds who have measurables (and often time production in college) that would automatically disqualify them from consideration by the NFL even as free agent camp fodderif they were white.

Unfortunately if Jordy Nelson runs a 4.5 flat or higher he will fall out of the top 2 or 3 rounds. The perception is already that he is slow, despite game tape that proves otherwise. He is going to have to really wow them at the combine to break that stigma. I hope he runs a sub 4.4 and then I think they will be forced to select him in the first round.
I have not seen Nelson play very much, but from what I have read, I can't see him going in Round One for the following reasons:
1) He's white
2) As more and more receivers who are drafted in Round One flop, less teams will be willing to use a first round pick at that position
3) Going along with my second point, teams are learning that they can pick up top notch talent either late in the draft or with undrafted players at wide out (Colston, Welker)
4) Teams are re-learning how critical controlling the line of scrimmage is. More first round picks will be used on offensive and defensive linemen (as was the case in the 1980s).

here is an article linked by DraftDaddy that claims Jordy is a "draft sleeper worth considering." here's the relevant bit.
yeah, not only is he a "sleeper" after destroying arguably the best "cover corner" in the country in Aqib Talib, as well as every other secondary he faced, he is also slow.
Jordy Nelson ran a 10.6 100 meters and a 21.6 200 meters in high school. so either the above stated 40 time is total bullcrap, or he has the best top-end speed of anyone ever.

Yeah, that article is pretty much ignorant crap. Most of the people on draft sites are saying that his worst negative is his rawness(is that a word?) in route-running...
There's no way Jordy will "drop far on the draft board". It's not even worth debating his 40 time now. Jordy will have his chance to showcase his skills over the next several months.
Any personnel men who disregard Jordy's talent do so at their own peril.
He'll be the Eric Weddle of this year's draft. A team with a good scouting corps will fall in love with him and do whatever they need to do to draft him, just as San Diego traded up to draft Weddle last year because they coveted him so much.

Jordy is shouting UPSIDE. He played only 3 years at receiver!! And still tore up the BIG XII! I don't understand why people are using this as a negative.

I keep looking at the NFL draft guides and more and more Jr. WR keep declaring. Manningham and Arrington from Michigan along with Jackson of Cal just declared. What little chance he had of being drafted in the first round just went to the wayside

He should. He cuts on a dime, has great hands and is one of the most exciting players I've seen in years! Jordy plays in a way that shouts, "I won't be denied!"
He has "style" and was a MAN among boys in the Big 12. He was also very good even though he had a subpar QB.
