Wilder and Fury announced that they have agreed to a heavyweight showdown later this year

World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder and unbeaten former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury announced on Saturday that they have agreed to a heavyweight showdown later this year. The announcement was made in Belfast immediately following Fury’s shutout decision of Francesco Pianeta. Wilder vs. Fury will be produced and distributed by SHOWTIME PPV and take place in Las Vegas. A date and venue for the event will be announced shortly.

Fury can win this but only by KO. Las Vegas judges won't favor him. An in shape Fury can beat anyone except Las Vegas judges.

I think the Fury that beat Wlad would murder Wilder, but I'm not as certain about 2018 Fury. I still think he's miles better than either Joshua or Wilder, but he might not be all there upstairs, and if he mentally falls apart, either of the other champs might win it.

If Fury brings his A game, he wins, if he half-asses it like he often does against lesser competition, he might lose, although I don't think he'll be knocked out. I think if he was on the point of being KOed he might do something ridiculous like resort to headbutts, running out of the ring, low blows, etc. Anything for some drama and entertainment and controversy.

Both Joshua and Wilder are total bums compared to either Klitschko, especially Vitali, who at 35, 40 would have murdered either of these clowns.

Fury's strength has been decreased by his 100 pound weight loss, he couldn't even KO Pianeta yesterday. He needs to postpone the Wilder fight until he gets his strength back, until next spring at the earliest.

He still boxes very well, better than Wilder. But he won't win a decision over an African-American boxer in Las Vegas, he's a fool if he agrees to fight Wilder there.

I have to say Wilder is not the same spindly novice we enjoy getting stopped in the amateurs ten or more years ago.

But that said Wilder has been exposed for limited boxing skills though he does have bailout power. Fury is just the guy to get him all turned around.

I tend to agree, Fury looks like he is on a Biggest Loser type weight loss regiment. That's fine to shed weight but it could affect your punch resistance in a tough brawl type fight.

On the surface the Wilder bout looks like a cash out type fight as having two no hope opponents in a row is really not the preparation to fight a dangerous puncher like Wilder. Jennings while not the same size as Wilder would have been a perfect test to see what Fury has in the tank as Jennings wouldn't roll over and die or be resigned to his fate like the ethnic Italian opponent was yesterday. Also Jennings would probably be willing to sign for a fight as his road to a title shot isn't an obvious one as Fury's was.

In between the dying Brooklyn dialect Shannon Briggs suggests what we have been saying in this thread that the Wilder fight is probably a fight or two too soon....

Fury needs more time and a few more fights under his belt. He can beat Wilder 100 percent but he is not ready yet. Only way Wilder wins is by knockout.

I agree about his strength. I didn't see the Pianeta fight but I saw a 5 minute highlight clip. Fury looked light on his feet and had good movement. He was letting Pianeta tee off while he slipped and ducked a lot of punches. He looked impressive to be honest, but his punches didn't seem to hurt Pianeta very much. Wilder is a very basic fighter. He wants to sit at a comfortable range and throw bombs. Fury doesn't want to allow him to do that. I think Fury is bigger and stronger than Wilder and he should be physical and never let him just sit at range and throw. Wilder probably hasn't been given the credit he deserves and he has passed every test presented to him but he is absolutely not an elite champion. He lacks in certain areas and his handlers have done wonders guiding him through his career. An in shape game Fury should be able to dispatch of Wilder. But, the questiom remains as to what kind of Fury will show up.
